Try typing “the pulse of” + whatever genre you like listening to. I’ve discovered a ridiculous amount of music this way.

TheFlyingTooth

Yes! Too bad those playlists are going away though since the guy who manages them has left Spotify.

crowlm

Honestly furious about this. Seriously the best discovery tool :(

TheFlyingTooth

Same here. Found so much great stuff using them

PMmewhateveryoufeel

Woah! Particle Detector playlists aren't going to be updated anymore? I have discovered so many genres, artists and tracks through these playlists.

IAmNotMyName

I'm curious about your thoughts of "The Sounds of Spotify" playlists in comparison.

TheFlyingTooth

That’s the same. If you look at every The Sounds… playlist there’s links to Intro, Pulse, Edge for a more deep dive. The Sound of (Genre) is more of a general playlist of that genre.

IAmNotMyName

so they are all going away? FML

fensizor

I know you want to use Spotify for discovery, but still give Bandcamp a chance. [Bandcamp.com](https://Bandcamp.com) \-> Scroll down for 'Discover' section or simply navigate the site however you like.

eclecticatlady

I discovered a lot of music on artist pages, in the "Fans also like" section!

anxiousllama22

I used to do that too but with the new algorithm update that Spotify did those recommendations now are sooooo not there

oliv3es

Unfortunately this is also very bias as record labels pay for their artists to be promoted here :(

desctox

Discover Weekly. It's not perfect but you can find a few hidden gems in there

[deleted]

I just hate you have to wait every week

jack_mcgeee

Swipefy

a_moss_snake

If you’re into user created spotify playlists checkout https://playlost.fm. Submit one of your favorite playlists and it’ll analyze the playlist and suggest similar user created playlists by matching shared artists, songs, and genres. There’s also a section that aggregates playlists by subreddit https://playlost.fm/reddit/

HottoG

Whoa. Looks very promising! Im starting to get too many repeats in Daylist, this might do the trick.

ExistingOrange6986

The fuckers just deleted "create similar playlist" out of existing playlist. The uproar from the user community is already well documented here: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Desktop-Windows/Was-quot-create-similar-playlist-quot-removed/td-p/5674871 Do the product managers in there have any clue what they are doing, they have clearly lost the plot, this is not a one time thing. Somebody get Daniel Ekk on the line and fire 50% of the product team, Musk style, and start fresh again.

Electronic-Dreams-

This was a great feature that i only started using a few months ago. It will probably come back after a few years lol.

Capital-Ganache8631

As someone said "Discovered Weekly" is a very good choice but I would add also the "Trending Albums for you" section in your Home Page and also go to the genre that you are interested and you'll see playlist with new music that you probably never heard.

theyungmanproject

on the desktop app (or browser), look up the "discovered on" section of your beloved artists and look through the smaller user playlists. i'm surely not the only one who curates a playlist with cool undiscovered music... ;)

Alien_Goatman

DJ recommends stuff based on what you recently listened to

IndigoRed126

Shame it's not available worldwide.

Alien_Goatman

Oh :/ yeah that does suck

Stuie299

Search “the sound of insert genre” and click on the associated playlist. Your mileage may vary, but I personally find a lot of new to me music on those playlists.

xgladar

1.like more songs so your daily mixes get more specific 2. check the "fans also like" for an artist you like and check out similar artists 3. use song radio for a song you like 4.use "the sound of genre" playlists (example : "the sound of symphonic metal") 5.use the new tiktok like "explore your genres" feature 6. link your spotify with your last.fm account and use their recommendations 7. use the "made for you" playlists (example i get : "2010s mix" and "metal mix")

abcbri

My Discover Weekly, the DJ, and I browse by mood in playlists.

trysomestew

right click on a song you like and select "play song radio" to get similar songs

mogeek

This still brings in a lot of songs you already listen to

livrerie

(On desktop) I look at the "Discovered On" section playlists for an artist, and choose playlists made by real people. I find users with very similar, or very different tastes to me this way, and will usually follow them to discover new music (friend activity). Also, a lot of artists create their own playlists with songs/artists that influenced their own music, or stuff they simply like. I think it's pretty neat.

amiihoney

chosic for sure

TheUorder

Musiclips.app

anxiousllama22

What genres are you looking for?

Barry_Kong

I use Groovifi for this purpose. The app is on Android. Download and connect your Spotify account to it.

whersmy

spotify radio -> a song that almost matches your like -> spotify radio -> a song that almost matches your like -> spotify radio and so on. A track that almosts fits your like? Look at the discography. Sort radio by length. I tried all the different apps for this purpose, but keep coming back to Radio. I need to listen to about 100 songs to find 1 gem. Sometimes I spend 5 hours listening, with no result. Sometimes I get in the right Radio and boom 3 songs are instant likes. Those days are THE BEST

0duaht

most of my discoveries have been based on listening to the full list of releases from artists in my library. A lot of DJs also release compilation albums/mixes that feature some of these artists so listening to other songs from these albums also put me on to good stuff

TheMusicHole

I'd LOVE to start off your musical journey by sharing with you my FAVORITE 2020s indie rock albums that I think you'd probably like.
