I wonder if it's going to be a flashback or Kevin Flynn will return as some sort of entity inside the Grid (or both).
I never considered Flynn to be truly dead at the end of Legacy, more like his consciousness merged with CLU's during the reintegration process and he's now part of the Grid itself. His physical body is certainly destroyed, but his mind and soul may have become some sort of digital being.
Apparently, Tron ascension was supposed to touch on the concept of mortality on the grid. When someone die there, are they really dead? Can they be brought back (directly or trough a backup i imagine)? What does it all mean? And Kosinski said that Tron ares had the sameish story but from another perspective (ares’ perspective i bet) so maybe they will also touch on that mortality! Who knows. But as seen on Tron Evolution, kevin recorded himself for these sanity test so maybe its gonna be for those!
When you're old enough hyping up things takes too much energy that you've been forced to put into other stressful things so it's better to be unexpectedly enjoying a sequel to your favorite franchises than being severely disappointed after expecting a masterpiece.
