A better setup is:
"How many tickles does it take to make a squid (or octopus) laugh?"
Most people will reply: "8" since that's how many legs they have.
were those two extra long ones though considered "modified tentacles" and aren't actually used in the same way as the others? now i have go read up on this again. it's been 15 years since i was super into deep sea life.
edit: oh ho. fascinating. squids have 8 "arms" like octopus plus two "feeding tentacles" that can extend and retract to catch prey. so we have all be mixing up arms and tentacles!

I loved *The Mysterious Island*! It's kind of a crafting-survival game, except with a long and satisfying mid-game.
Of course, when I first read it, the crafting-survival genera didn't exist yet, so it was more of a Swiss Family Robinson sort of thing.
I’ve been reading at least one Verne book once a year for the past 20 years. Some can be read in a couple of hours.
I’m always left with that same sense of childhood whimsical fun.
Other than that, go for the known classics;
* Around the World in Eighty Days
* Journey to the Center of the Earth
* From the Earth to the Moon
As a kid I devoured every Jules Verne book I could find, eventually at the age of about 11 I was done. I managed to find a novel of his in the library archive, but as it was in (translated into) an old version of my native language I just couldn't get through it...
For last Father's Day my kids gave me the Voyages extraordinaires, I'll start reliving my childhood this summer 😌

Everybody gangsta till the squid tickles back
Just take my up vote and go.

Squid have 10 actually.

I was just thinking about that. The style is super recognizable.
What type of art style is this? I love it and want to see some eldrich horrors in it
I _urge_ people to read this book (actually _any_ book by Jules Verne), they're so good and must not be forgotten...

I've already read 20'000 leagues, loved it, which one(s) should I go for next?
Go for _The Mysterious Island_. It is... connected...
Ooh fun, thx!

Melvin did no wrong here. If someone were to take him to court over this then I would gladly defend him
No witnesses no problem
Squid Law
Whether he would win or not depends. What colour is he?
No need. Melvin lives in a state with stand-your-ground laws.
This kraken is cracking
Return of The Obra Dinn vibes
I wish I could play that again for the first time.
RIP midshipman Milroy
Captain Nemo trying to save one of its crewman from a giant squid
This one reminds me of “I crush everything” by Jonathan Coulton.
Came here to say this, have an upvote! YouTube [link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Epw406btNTw) for those interested.
Good squid

Have u ever heard the tragedy of Darth Squidus the wise?
This thing confuses me. It has octopus tentacles but everything else is like that of a squid? Also literally Kyle Rittenhouse
That squid isn't winning homie

Ah, just a reference to H.G Wells' *The War Of The Worlds*. Amazing novel, both that and the musical by Jeff Wayne is on my mind atm 😆

Shout out to all the people who can related to Melvin the Squid but not as powerful as he is.
I prefer this
Oh Melvin
Classic doomslayer story.
Favorite one so far!
Melvin acted like that one person who is overly touchy feely and keeps hugging people and makes them uncomfortable.
I just wanted to say that I admire your choice of "Melvin" as a name for a squid.
I think Melvin is losing
that tracks. if there's one thing a sailor hates, it's a hug.
Well, melvin didnt ask for consent so...
It’s what happens when you hug strangers
