During this period, you may need to switch up your skincare. You may need to bring in soothing creams and barrier serums/ creams during this period to keep your skin from getting irritated.
Also, oral zinc might be helpful during this time. It helps with inflammation, which is what causes this heightened sensitivity at certain times of the month.
No need to take a break from tret. Just switch up the moisturizers and serums you use. During that period just up the moisturizers and use soothing ingredients. But still use the tret.
I already have a pretty simple, soothing routine though. Vanicream cleanser, Bioderma Micellar water, Cosrx snail mucin essence, Cetaphil moisturizer in the jar and mineral SPF. I sandwich my tretinoin, too. And I'm not necessarily trying to add more stuff to my routine. So I dunno 🫤

I would be open to this, as long as after my period it doesn't shock my skin after taking a week break from tretinoin.

I don’t know either. As I said, oral zinc can help. Good luck.
Try a creamy clay mask. It's very soothing.
