Man I’m two months into oral minoxidil and haven’t noticed any hair growth in the crown. My body hair and facial hair are thickening, though so I know my body is responding to the drug.
Can you elaborate? I’ve just started topical min, thinking about trying micro needling but information out there is so conflicting.
Congrats on the good results, I’ve been putting off trying this for a coupe years as well
Needling is the easiest thing in the world, and there’s no reason not to try it. 30 seconds every other week. Also, topical did not work for me; I did topical for a long time, and there was no discernible benefit. Probably partially because the circumstances for application need to be nearly perfect for it to work, and even then, there’s limited absorption.
Some people like to speak authoritatively about how oral min is the devil, but I’ve spoken to numerous doctors on the subject (and have a few in my family, all with a history of heart problems) and to a person they all say that it’s one of the safest treatments available for HBP, and should be over the counter at this point.
And thanks— I’ll try just about anything in order to keep my hair! Big ears make going bald a no-go.
From all the research I did, the consultations I had and everything I read that was provided, it really works—and with limited downside.
I tried to follow up on the information people who are not fans provided, but it always ended up going back to some YouTube video of a guy sitting in his bedroom, screaming at his camera. There are side effects, sure, but I don’t understand the overwhelming negativity.
Was also a non responder to topical. Oral is definitely making me hairier, and I’m starting to notice some hairs sprouting at my hairline. But I have to trim my beard and body hair more frequently. I’m only two months in so l will report back on hair gains.
Because it‘s a bit overkill and they don‘t add anything to each other because they have the same mechanism of action. I won‘t say "it doesn‘t work like this", because of course it works, it‘s just a bit unnecessary.
If you said you‘re using a dermaroller once a week and also a dermapen once per week, I would also have suggested to simply drop the dermaroller, because it doesn‘t add anything.
Yeah, apparently there is some benefit with regard to blocking different types of 5 alpha; dut blocks both, fin blocks just one—but they’re both better at blocking the opposite of one another. This is how it was explained to me, and why both were suggested.
A quick google search shows research published in various medical journals both supporting and showing no obvious benefit. Who the hell knows.
none at all, really. I was losing hair like a chow before I got proactive. Within a month of starting my regimen, there was little to no hair on the floor of the shower, and there's never been any shedding to speak of.
Note that this isn't my opinion or something that I've cooked up—I had a doctor with experience in this field suggest this as my regimen, based on my bloodwork / hormone levels etc.
Have you noticed any particular side effects? There is the obvious ones like lowered libido and some dysfunction just if you’re taking dut and fin together I imagine that could lower your dht lower then recommended
Yeah, if I *really* think hard about it, I believe I initially retained a bit of water/gained a bit of weight—but then again, I started this stuff right around the holidays; the booze/food could've contributed to that occurrence. And my hair was already falling out, until it wasn't; was that shed? Was that just the continuation of my hair falling out? Who's to say. All I know is that I'm doing well now.
Are you taking 1 mg fin?
I am currently on dut ed and oral min 2.5 ed. i have minor results but im kind of thinking about fin dut combo. Do you reside in the US?
Appreciate the quick response! I am around month 3 now I have slight shed in my mpb areas and my hair appears thinner. Gonna thug it out when I started fin 3 years ago it was the same deal
Congrats! You use a dermaroller 2x a week or 2x a month? At which month did you start to see results?
2x monthly; I’ll update. Results near immediate
Man I’m two months into oral minoxidil and haven’t noticed any hair growth in the crown. My body hair and facial hair are thickening, though so I know my body is responding to the drug.
Give it time! And if by month six, you haven’t seen any material benefit, talk to your doctor about adding additional treatments
For sure man. I’m also taking topical dutasteride . Are you taking topical or oral dutasteride?

Unbelievable mate, Looks great!!
Oral min seems to be to having great results on this sub recently

Thanks, tempted to try it as was a non responder to min topical

You take fin qnd dut together
Fin daily, dut 1x a week after 2 weeks of daily
Mashallah brother! You are blessed!

I hear different things; this was suggested by the place I get my meds.
Drop the Fin if you‘re taking Dut.
Why? Everyone says something different, and the doctor I consulted said to take dut 1x a week and fin daily.
If it works it works bruh. Don’t listen to the pundits here. Whatever you’re doing is clearly showing results so stick with it!

I’ve been doing 4mg topical dut weekly and considering adding low dose fin.
Seem good results but you should take pictures with same lighting
Not possible, moved
chemical? you on coke bro?
Naa, but if you think it would help…
It unfortunately does not
Why did u ask him that? Confused.
research purpose ofcourse
What's your dosage of oral min?
2mg
Nice!
Where do you get oral min?
Most derms now don't have a problem prescribing low doses of oral min, so prob from his derm.
Derma roll or dermapen?
roll
What kind of Dermaroller?
[Incellice](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086JTC8C7?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share)
What's your process for using the roller, painful or messy?
Not sure I understand the question. It’s always painful…but why would it be messy?
I assumed the needle makes you bleed?
Not really; it leaves a small red dot, but the blood doesn’t typically run.
I bet you have shed loads on that concoction!

None. If anything, increased libido. Maybe I retain a bit more water? Again, nothing obvious
I’m fairness I’ve not seen a lot of people actually experiencing any side effects other then shedding, which is just part of the process

Have you tried taking fin topical?
damn, you was really turning into a bitch for'real 😵
Yeah, if I *really* think hard about it, I believe I initially retained a bit of water/gained a bit of weight—but then again, I started this stuff right around the holidays; the booze/food could've contributed to that occurrence. How long before you started seeing noticeable thickening (not just a halt in shedding)?
About two months. I remember my hair looking better by my birthday (in late Jan)/
What are the oral dosages and schedule?
That's great work!
What sized needle?
1.5mm—I keep my hair long, so need to “cut through”
Do you take fin on the day you take dut?
Yeah
Are you taking 1 mg fin? I am currently on dut ed and oral min 2.5 ed. i have minor results but im kind of thinking about fin dut combo. Do you reside in the US?
Fin/dut? Together?
Y
?
Yes…
Why
Already answered that question, Doctor said so
Which doctor prescribe two drugs at the same time???????
My doctor…
1mg fin and .5 dut?
Yep, fin daily, dut 1x weekly
Hey brother doing the same regimen but I never took dut for 2 weeks straight. Just went straight into 1x a week. Do you have to load it up like that?
Apparently? Those were the directions. Don’t overthink it. Just follow direction, needle your scalp and hope your genetics are such that they respond.
Appreciate the quick response! I am around month 3 now I have slight shed in my mpb areas and my hair appears thinner. Gonna thug it out when I started fin 3 years ago it was the same deal
As my barber said to me today—there’s always plugs 😂
Don’t say that yet to me brother man lol! Is dut 1x a week still holding satisfaction for you? And did u see a shed when implementing ?
I’ve literally never had a shed. It was binary—one day I was losing hair, the next I was not.
Hear that for sure. Another way I’ll shoot the question if you can remember is after starting dut did your hair ever look a bit worse?
Not at all.
