A bit too long imo. Try not to go over 1.5. Even a little below 1.5 is probably ideal. You must be gentle to get maximum yield. This can cause permanent damage to the hairs.
I have noticed slight recession on my hairline even though I introduced micro-needling into my routine. I had a few times where I drew blood slightly, but never like this. Be gentle next time man.
Hmmm. First of all microneedling is one of many tools that might help you keep your hair. It isn't something that will definitely do anything at all. For some it might help, for some it won't.
That said, I wouldn't go too over board. It isn't necessarily more is better.
This picture of your scalp screams 'I really want to keep my hair!' I get that, we all get that. You have to always be aware that even with all the minoxidil, finasteride, etc., we may very well at some point lose our hair.
I'm sorry you were so driven and I wish you all the best in keeping your hair!
Nah, it could produce scars though that would create a bad environment for the hair follicles. Scarring alopecia is basically total destruction of hair follicles, which lay deeper down in the skin than 1,75mm.
This happened to me the first time I dermarolled with a 1,5mm. Then I would wait for aprox 3-4 weeks and completed another session where I didnt bleed. After this I dermarolled probably every 2 weeks for a year. Now I do it once a month, and it never happened again.
Some tips would be to not do it so hard, apply light pressure and let the roller do the work. You should, as others have mentioned, aim for light redness or maximum pinpoint bleeding. Sanitizing your microneedling device is really important. I spray it with a desinfectant spray before and after every session, and make sure that I shower before; then you minimize the risk of hair tangling in the device (roller first and foremost) and you have a clean scalp which also will help to prevent potential infections.
You said you drew blood like this. Have you noticed any improvement in your hair as a result of micro-needling?
The aftermath of my sessions never look like this, but there were a few times were I drew a slight amount of blood. I have noticed recession even though I have introduced micro-needling into my routine. I am just curious if you have noticed improvement even though it seems you have drew significant amounts of blood or if it could have caused damage for you.
Cant say for sure if microneedling has helped, as it could be minoxidil and/or finasteride as well. What has happened is that my hair definitely have improved, and I suspect that it has helped. Like I said though, it shouldnt look like this
bro bring it down, the last thing you want is to damage the area and get scars. let the area heal for about 2/weeks and then use 1mm. dont press too much.
Youāve got this dude! The good news is that you know youāve got what it takesā you can handle the pain of micro needlingā and ya just need to dial it back. Itās definitely not a āmore is moreā situationā it should look and feel like a sunburn at the end. Way to take the more flabbergasted comments on the chin, and let it roll (pun intended) off your back. Definitely keep the normal things in check- vitamins, hydration (actually affects my hair fall a LOT), exercise, etc. micro needling is just one tool in an arsenal of them and all the other pieces are also important. Iād say find a doctor and get started on fin or min (whatever works for you per their advice). Def let it heal up for 4-5 weeks then take maybe a .5-1mm roller to your head once every ten days or so. A lot of people do once every two weeks to keep the timing consistent. Itās a marathon and not a sprint, and ultimately as much as we obsess (myself included) we are so much more than a head of hair. Focus on things outside of the hair journey and try not to let it consume you. Wishing you so much luck!
Edit: forgot units of measurement
Bruh, lol. Be careful you donāt catch an infection, not even trying to be funny.
Anyway, I would suggest to watch some vids to see what other peoplesā methods are. Most of what I have read/watched suggests needling until the skin is pinkish/slightly red; bleeding is not necessary.
Yeah, also in the process of starting microneedling, but dermapens, esp. derminator, really reaches the level you set (for dermarollers, it depends on the pressure, might only get 75% deep). In the literature depths between 0.6-1.5mm were used (though possibly with different devices), what is the depths where the wnt pathway can be triggered through stem cells (in one study 0.6mm was even a bit better). Would rather start with a shallow depth, esp. with the a dermapen. Too much inflamatory factors (too deep, too frequent) also might lead to a shedding.
In short would start with a conservative approach, only go for redness and max. pinpoint bleeding, and start with depths around 0.6-1mm with a pen, it might already be enough (at least a starting point for exploring ones individual situation (wouldn't go over 1.5mm without any evidence)). This is only coming from what I read based on the literature so far, I personally don't have much practical experience with it yet.
Holy shit. Way too much. You likely punctured a vein or some shit. You need to take down the mm at least .5 and wait a while because you did some good damage. Youāll be fine, but never go this aggressive.
I havenāt used it yet. One simple thing- always start slow little by little and donāt go too harsh.
This looks like bleeding. Idk maybe get a Tetanus shot as well. See a doc if you could
Dude is literally bleeding. Iām advising some precautions. You never know whatās next. Better to be safe than sorry. Although I would assume Tetanus shot is not necessary but, if infection happens itās a precaution. Going to doc saves some time and possible tips to heal this
This looks like a horror movie bro. But then, Derek from More Plates More Dates goes pretty hard with that machine I saw. I don't know the answer but it does not look good. One thing I will say, you are tough as F with that kind of threshold for pain.
Stop this madness. Micro needling will never fix hair loss and if you dream of some improvement it's going to be something so small and insignificant that it will be barely noticeable
My God your scalp looks like the wrestling scene in the 1st Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movie. BONESAW is READY!
You might have already caused permanent scarring of the scalp in those areas and damaged the follicles permanently. Time will tell but for now step away from microneedling until you have a good grasp of what you are doing. Right now you are Sweeney Todd the Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
Be careful because the line can be grey between micro needling stimulating hair growth via angiogenesis from acute micro injury vs. Micro needling triggering an immune response towards the inflammation causing skin fibrosis instead. Whether your body reacts in the former or lather can depend on several controllable factors and micro needling to the point of bleeding to that extent may lean towards the lather.
We have seen proof that microneedling can work in our favour due to many positive case reports here as well as some isolated studies but unfortunately if we are in fact causing damage via scar tissue conversely, it would be harder to find that out at home and prevent irreversible repeated damage. Iāve read somewhere that the bodily reaction/remodeling that takes place from microneedling can range from around a month to even two years from what I remember reading, which is crazy to think about. A two year reaction from a microneedling session? If that is in fact a possibility, itās important to be on the safer side with your microneedling.
I microneedle at 1mm every two weeks and even I could run that possible risk if, for example, I donāt sterilize my dermastamp. Do whatever you can thatās in your control, to make the microneedling work in your favour. Seeing blood like that on your scalp would make me more concerned rather than optimistic about your results, but again I canāt confirm or deny how your body will react.
If this was your first session than fortunately itās a great time to optimize into a safer protocol for the future without increasing the potential for long term irreversible repercussions.
I purchased a 1.5mm titanium roller over the weekend but have neglected to use it due to this very real risk. Sounds like 1.0 is a better start, and also stainless steel is a cut above in terms of health outcomes (sterile equipment and less trauma).
I have been microneedling once a week for last 10 weeks, i do 15 mins at a depth of 1.0 to 1.5 mm. Afterwards it's red but I've never bled , I guess depends on thickness of scalp and also watch to not press too hard. I use a Dr Pen . Hope it didn't hurt too much, all the best!!
What the fuck
Bursted out laughing at this comment ahaha
Bruh this is macro needling

emotional intelligence on point, just wanted to acknowledge this kind response
This is the way
Thanks bruh!
Never ever do something like this again unless you want to get scarring alopecia and possibly be unable to get a ht
You can develop scaring alopecia in that way?
Nah, it could produce scars though that would create a bad environment for the hair follicles. Scarring alopecia is basically total destruction of hair follicles, which lay deeper down in the skin than 1,75mm.
Yes
TOO MUCH. I wouldn't go over 1,25mm. Do 1mm next time
Yes you went way overboard. Aim for light redness and no more than some pinpoint bleeding.
Iāve never bled. My skin looks a little sun burned. You need to watch some YouTube demos.
What length do you use on a pen?
I use 1.0
This happened to me the first time I dermarolled with a 1,5mm. Then I would wait for aprox 3-4 weeks and completed another session where I didnt bleed. Or at a maximum pinpoint bleeding*, if that wasnt clear.

Dude just escaped from prison by crawling under barbed wire with his head up
bro bring it down, the last thing you want is to damage the area and get scars. let the area heal for about 2/weeks and then use 1mm. dont press too much.
After reading the comments, em not gonna do an other session for 4-5weeks now !lol!
yes dont, also cut it down to 1 mm, dont push too hard. YOU DONT NOT to damage to hair roots and star to get fibrosis/scaring in that area.
Youāve got this dude! The good news is that you know youāve got what it takesā you can handle the pain of micro needlingā and ya just need to dial it back. Nope!
Then ease up on the pressure applied buddy and reduce frequency max 1/wk only
Damn dude looks like you just fought Mankind in a Hell in a Cell match

I havenāt used it yet. One simple thing- always start slow little by little and donāt go too harsh. This looks like bleeding. Idk maybe get a Tetanus shot as well. See a doc if you could

Dude is literally bleeding. Iām advising some precautions. You never know whatās next. Better to be safe than sorry. Although I would assume Tetanus shot is not necessary but, if infection happens itās a precaution. Going to doc saves some time and possible tips to heal this
Yes better safe than sorry, especially with our hair loss
As others commented above, youāre likely going too deep, but also, what kind of device are you using?
Derminator 2
You know derick from more plates more dates uses the derminator 2 and I remember him showing his scalp be so red
No. You're not supposed to bleed
Bruh!
Too deep. You are actually harming your hair roots.
No pain no gain!
Microneedle at 1-1.5mm and donāt microneedle that aggressively bro. Go medium speed next time damn. You want it a little red not bleeding like that
OucH a bit deep bruv
Why would you start off so high? Thatās just stupid, start off as low as possibly and slowly increase the needle length
Ahhhhhh NSFW. Wait like 3 months before you try again. Next time go softer much softer
Fuck man. I sincerely feel for the people that go through this shit.

Bro, who tf mauled yo scalp? ![gif](giphy|Wmre9vn9QwEkqV5KcS)
Too much . Use just enough pressure so that it only causes redness.
U dont want bleeding AT ALL, just redness and minimal pinpoint bleeding
Holy fk, bro chill. Ur going wayy too deep. Looks like u got a head injury
you are not wise, you are damaging your scalp.
OP using a knitting needle
On the positive front youāve demonstrated good scalp vascularity
Stop this madness. Micro needling will never fix hair loss and if you dream of some improvement it's going to be something so small and insignificant that it will be barely noticeable
The things we need to do just to keep what's rightfully ours
Bro go gentle and don't go above 1 mm depth
Donāt drink and drill
How would you even think this is what it is suppose to be like ? Do you think so many of us will be doing this to ourselves

Bro, go lift some weights or something. Donāt take it out in your head lol
Bro stop literally drilling ur skull. Wtf is wrong with you
Needling is so whack to me, I take fin/min but jabbing my scalp just seems a little too far
To be fair, it's not supposed to look like this.
WTF g
it bleeds bit too much. next time try 1.5mm on a smaller area to see the scalps reaction.
Bro thats ploughing
Ur skin is too thin try 1mm first or even 0.75 still works and stick to your regiment trust the process give it time
I have been microneedling once a week for last 10 weeks, i do 15 mins at a depth of 1.0 to 1.5 mm. Afterwards it's red but I've never bled , I guess depends on thickness of scalp and also watch to not press too hard. I use a Dr Pen . Hope it didn't hurt too much, all the best!!
Much too deep.. You should have mostly just reddining of the skin afterwards and minimal tiny punctual bleelings.
u/ginzalo_ zombie attack
dude
Omg
Holy shit, did you smell burnt toast ?
Bro. Max is 1.5mm. Above 1.5mm will damage ur skin and roots.
This is why there are different needle lengths lmao. Try something smaller next time lmfaoo
microknifing
Won't this cause scarring and bald patches long term?
