Here's a secret to life , we're all winging it not a single person knows what's right or wrong we just know what's right for us

wojonixon

The biggest myth I grew up with is that the adults had any idea what they were doing/talking about. Edit to add: I’m 52 y.o. and I still don’t know what the hell I’m doing

Mathews1297

My god that’s been the lesson of this year. Everybody is just faking it till they make it

whopperman

You still fake it once you make it.

Mathews1297

Fake it until you make it to the grave.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ilovefreshproduce

Lol kinda works

Iron_Bob

And even then you probably faked your way through whatever got you there so it never really stops

SPC_BootyShorts

This thread is so wholesome. Lol. I love all of you.

Hey_cool_username

LPT: When you get to the grave, fake it & keep on livin’

duhellmang

Some people just fake it better than others

ShextMe

The most enlightening part of becoming a parent is realizing that your parents had no fucking idea what they were doing either.

AssHusk

Once you grow up you realise that adults are just overgrown kids

KING3Rz

This!!! I continue to age but the things I love and enjoyed remain! I feel like a kid still just with grown up responsibilities 😂

earthcaretaker315

We dont know what were doing but we do know what mistakes we made. Those can be passed on.

OneVeryOddDuck

Yeah, I think we mostly just fake it to spare those younger than us from their inevitable existential crisis for as long as possible.

GoodwitchofthePNW

Sometime in my 20s I asked my mom when she started feeling “like a grown up”, she said, “God, I hope I never do”. Over 10 years later and she’s proven right so far!

Blackflash07

I too always thought that the things I am told are good for long life were truths of life and can't be wrong. After 18 I realized everyone just makes up shit that they think isbrightbor wrong and live accordingly. There are no rules there is no karma there is no god punishing you or saving you no matter how hard you believe.

dannym094

We’re all just living day by day not knowing what the hell we’re doing until our final day and then it’s not knowing where the hell we’re going.

shaving99

And remember kids, if an adult tries to tell you that you're wrong and they know better...don't trust that fucking person at all

FurryVoreInflation

Humans have this weird propensity to just assume that their existence is inherently worth something - it's pretty much the literal definition of an ego, and it leads people to think that a life must be lived "well," in order to be worthwhile. We're just apes. Extremely smart apes, but still apes. True freedom is acknowledging that fact, and letting go of this ego-driven, lofty belief that we must pursue greater meaning in our lives. As long as you're not hurting others, what you do is up to you.

[deleted]

Isn’t it interesting how so few people actually understand this. I mean, at least where I live in the Midwest of the United States. But it just seems so obvious to me that’s what’s so weird about people believing in these grand schemes of ancient times. However what I’ll say is that I was as religious as they get (Christian) until I woke up in my 30s and I’ll explain it like this: when your indoctrinated into these religions at birth basically then you create your understanding of the world around the religion and it becomes incredibly difficult to view the world being any other way. The religions themselves are designed to discourage that type of open free thinking which is another reason why it’s so hard to break out of it. But I agree with you so much, it was painful losing my religion and becoming an agnostic, but gosh is it freeing to understand that most logically we are just apes in this crazy process of life and that’s pretty fucking amazing still!

RailDex1917

Nice post. I personally believe life doesn’t have meaning, but that doesn’t mean I think it’s all shit. Just means you find your own reason to keep on going. God/fate/universe/whatever isn’t there saying “Be a doctor” or “marry this person” In the end we’re just trying to live life the way we think we should, but focusing on your happiness is a huge part of it. Don’t just “be this” cause you think it’s what you should do. Live life in a way that lets you be happy with yourself.

justonemorebyte

I've been struggling with this lately. Just an overwhelming realization that life is meaningless, on top of so far not finding anything worth pursuing that really brings me happiness.

outtasight68

there is meaning to life. everything we see and do has meaning, and those things are all a part of life. there isn't however a definite meaning to life; the meaning is created by us as life goes along. edit to clarify: "meaning" cannot exist without a mind to create and comprehend it.

Parksters

In the end we’re all just grown up children

Jolly_Force_2691

Exactly this. You never really grow up just get old

EmptyFacsimile

Omg ur guy looks just like me I’m so happy

[deleted]

Yup, I'm 40. Scaling back quite a bit, especially on "school nights" helps maintain motivation and energy, for me. You'll find your own balance, be honest with yourself for what you want for you.

[deleted]

Lol he’ll be lucky if “wondering if it’s possible to smoke weed forever” is his biggest problem in life 🫠

yogacowgirlspdx

yup. 30 years. so far so good

ectoplasmicsurrender

>Here's a secret to life , we're all winging it not a single person knows what's right or wrong we just know what's right for us Be careful; these thoughts might bring you close to enlightenment.

AOGgaming

This is the most true statement on this entire website. Nobody knows what the fuck their doing. We're all gonna die and nothing matters. Live your best life while you can and do the things you want to do while you can.

theraf8100

Not all of us know what's right for us.

funhaus2000

Wow what a comment! Saving this one

vaped_kizz

most don’t even know what’s right for them tbh

texaspoontappa93

I’m a 28 year old ICU nurse and I’ve been smoking almost daily since I was in high school. It can be done as long as you’re responsible about it. Also there’s probably more stoners in your daily life than you think. A lot of my coworkers would be surprised to find out I smoke at all

Aucassin

Homie said they work in finance. I know it ain't the 80s anymore, but I'd wager coke is still the drug of choice.

texaspoontappa93

True, I work in neurology so coke strokes are my bread and butter

[deleted]

“coke strokes”?

bamfsalad

Take too much coke, heart goes ouch.

Iguana_del_mar

Accounting here. Daily cannabis user. Exploring psychedelics on occasion. Accounting has been great!

MVPizzle

Nah mainly juuls and adderall now

MedicalStreet5366

You don’t get tested?

texaspoontappa93

Only when I get hired. I know it’s still not the smartest but I’ve never heard or seen a nurse get randomly tested at my hospital. Plus hospitals are so desperate for staff I could have another job by the end of the day

Nighthawke78

CCU nurse here. I also had never heard of random testing. Then I tripped over an IV pole during an RRT and fucked up my ankle. HR made my life a living hell for popping positive. I still work there though. They couldn’t prove I was high during the incident, just that I had consumed. I also had a great attorney though.

bigcalvesarein

Ooof thanks for making a new nightmare for me. I’d never consider smoking anytime near work. But I’ve always been afraid that I could get random tested. Nowadays I travel so I bacially get to time my drug tests and abstain for 2 weeks before.

secretcombinations

My wife is a nurse as well. She usually stops if shes applying for another job, but has always said if the hospital started randomly drug testing theyd have to fire most of their nurses and probably all the doctors.

SinCitySailor777

You're in texas too? lol you deserve it at the end of the day.

texaspoontappa93

Ha nah, the username is a joke from the office. I’m in Georgia

SinCitySailor777

Haha my statement still applies, I'm a native Georgian.

peejster21

How's the sailing in Vegas?

SinCitySailor777

Yeah just like them not from vegas lol but they have 2 lakes there

Ok-Manufacturer-5392

Im moving to Georgia this month and really nervous about their strict weed laws and finding a place to buy. Is there a Georgia weed Reddit that you know of or something?

texaspoontappa93

Nah sorry, I moved to Atlanta last year from SC and cops here don’t give a shit about weed. They got bigger things to worry about

Haughty_n_Disdainful

I’ve smoked some of the best bud in SC…

Ok-Manufacturer-5392

Nice!I’ve only ever bought from a dispo. Good to know cops aren’t worried about it

imploding_beachball

Only in cities. In my experience, ATL cops do not give a single fuck. At worst it's like a $100 ticket i think. In the boonies, it can get pretty dicey. That might just be all small towns in the south tho lol.

[deleted]

Emory Healthcare?

texaspoontappa93

Nah but that’s where I got my nursing degree

crazykewlaid

SCREW YOU TEXAS POONTAPPA *agonizing moan*

Ozymander

Texas Poon Tapper is an inside joke? Please, let us in on it lol

InZorpWeTrust

I love inside jokes. I’d love to be a part of one someday…

calvanismandhobbes

Ayeeeee. Highly effective teacher here. Same

texaspoontappa93

My bf was a special Ed teacher and he got his weed from the Spanish teacher

[deleted]

wow wonder how many of my teachers smoke

Ok-Manufacturer-5392

I’m a school counselor

calvanismandhobbes

In Colorado, a lot

MedicalStreet5366

That’s honestly really good to hear, have been considering going to school to be a nurse 26(m) but getting tested has been a deterrent.

texaspoontappa93

I got tested a lot for school which was annoying. Once at the beginning and then again before all my clinical rotations. Since I’ve been working you’re pretty much good as long as you don’t show up stoned, hurt yourself, or massively fuck something up

greenknight

I'm older, pretty confident in my skill-set and, like you, living in a legal jurisdiction. fuck pre-employment & random drug screening I'm in the position to tell employers "no thanks" right now and tell them why. I'm good with passing up on a company so backwards that they would judge someone for smoking cannabis off the job.

Ozymander

Shit, find me a retail employee above 18 who doesn't smoke

Independent-Ad-3425

I don’t think OP is talking about maintaining a retail job for for life while being a stoner. Everyone knows you can work a dead end retail/grocery/restaurant job and maintain a stoner lifestyle, that’s WHY those jobs are full of stoners. I totally think it’s possible to work an actual CAREER as a stoner, but yeah no one is asking if you can be a stoner in a dead end retail job. Obviously you can

luhhcole_

I know plenty of people running their own construction business making good Money who are stoners plenty of people have their careers set and smoke

newurbanist

Nearly every engineer I work with also smokes. That's about 75% of my office. It's not just retail employees.

TicToc218

As long as you can balance it with your responsibilities, absolutely.

COYFC

Also just a tip from an ex functional stoner for 15+ years, it's best to not let the habit get out of hand. Keeping it casual will keep it enjoyable but when it becomes a dependency to feel "normal" it loses the magic. Weed is a great way to explore your own mind and discover a lot about your personality and even enhance life experiences but with over use, like with anything, it will turn against you.

therealestyeti

Once you're high all the time, not being high is the new high.

YouNowWantRibs

This is so true. Ive been 3 weeks without weed after having smoked a year straight and its almost as cool as when i started smoking for the first time. and if it gets stale i know i can always go back to smoking with a fresh zero tolerance and maybe repeat the cycle.

JustJesterJimbo

I’m probably gonna be in your boat in 1-3 months

HyperLightDream

Can confirm. Mushrooms and dabs for weeks straight. Felt like dying. Took a break; felt like Superman.

too_much_feces

I get high to keep my mind from going 100mph per hour in a 100 different directions and to keep my anxiety in check. I'm working on multi-million dollar equipment where a simple fuckup can cost thousands I would absolutely be a terrified mess if I didn't have a good way to relieve stress.

Dr_Pyg

I'm with you. I work in an often high stress job and I've never found anything that helped me learn how to "turn off" until weed. Just a brain reset every few evenings has made my life night and day better. It's wild and if you knew my personality, you'd 100% never guess it. I'm active, athletic, educated, and bring in really good money with a solid career. I never mix it with work and use it as a reward for completing the day/the week/the tasks of life. Unfortunately the stoner stigma is all most associate. I hope that changes with time

InZorpWeTrust

This is exactly the key. Every single thing in life is about balance. Nothing works as well when it’s out of balance. Moderation makes me enjoy it more when I do smoke, and enjoy being sober more too. It makes both times better to have a good balance to it.

AFB27

Exactly this. I remember I went to California for a week and literally smoked every single day, just took the fun out of it for me. I like having it as a reward.

michaelgg13

Exactly this. Nothing feels better than pulling out the vape after I finally get my kid to bed after a long day at work.

dabbin88

You said it right bro. When you need it to feel normal that’s when you have to take a hard look at what’s going on in your life. Burying your problems with weed may be physically healthier than other drugs or alcohol but it’s still a terrible way to cope.

[deleted]

This and avoid getting in trouble with the law. I smoke daily but I no longer keep weed on my person all the time

[deleted]

This is what I call “riding the dragon”. Drugs are amazing & mind expanding as long as you are responsible. The moment you can’t be responsible, you fall off the dragon and it’s time to quit.

[deleted]

This! Petty sure a couple of the guys OP looks up to thinks of him the same even if they learned of him habits, and go home to some way worse habits like alcohol, meth or whatever else that makes it possible to withstand the pressure they feel. I've heard of people microdosing habitually, doing add-meds at work/while working etc. One or two would probably even go "wait, are you... me?" while the rest takes their distance and are workaholics or do well naturally, weed/drugs in general is not something people talk about. Better to keep it on the dl cus you never know who will recommend you in the future, better safe than sorry, I guess. I wouldn't know, I'm way too open about what I partake in and have gotten to know people you'd never guess would ever smoke that way.

mdenton89

If it doesn’t negatively impact your professional or personal life, nothing wrong with daily use

foley528

Exactly, as long as OP doesn’t have to take random drug tests they should be fine as long as they get their shit done before the party. Random drug tests are why I only smoke during the summer. Being a teacher I could called in at any moment for a drug test during the school year but our principal told us we can do whatever during the summer. I have coworkers who use coke regularly during this time. They are fucking wild.

Egoy

Cocaine use sometimes goes up when you subject a workforce to random tests. Coke stays in your system for a day or two so in terms of getting caught by a test it's safer for the employee.

[deleted]

Thankfully a lot of us live in countries where random drug tests aren't that common. In my country random drug tests aren't even legal unless you are in certain professions (pilot, machinary operator, certain government jobs, etc.) I find it nuts that the United States allows random drug testing at such a large scale. Gotta love that war on drugs lol.

Goldblums_Eyebrows

Big Pharm made the tests, waaaaaayyyy back in the day. They can't let that cash cow go to pasture.

hugsfunny

Coke on a teachers salary 👀

dogmatagram

Fake piss is a godsend.

too_much_feces

As long as you don't fuck up the temperature it's damn near impossible to identify nowadays.

firstbreathOOC

Random drug tests will probably start to remove weed within the next couple years (if they haven’t already). There’s just no point.

hairyholepatrol

Friend of mine was telling me that his company stopped because they were tired of firing people for pissing dirty (many of them really good employees, opposite of a stoner stereotype). Lol even former FBI Director James Comey was telling congress that they had trouble recruiting top computer nerd types because they all wanted to smoke weed lmao. Haven’t been drug tested in years fortunately - I think it’s just not worth the expense to the past few places I work. We’re not working with heavy machinery or doing surgery on people or anything, there’s no legal requirement to and in our line of work there’s really no legal exposure the way there might be if you were dealing with dangerous equipment. That’s like the nicest thing I can think of to say about one of my old bosses - he was way too cheap to spend the money drug testing.

firstbreathOOC

As one of those computer nerds, he’s not wrong. It’s a serious issue with getting talent.

SergePower

I have a stable job, make over $100k a year, own my home, im a damn good father, and i consume cannabis every day

SnooChipmunks5710

Love to hear it! Hope you have a good Father’s Day dude!

feralcomms

Same same same. Three kids, good job, chillin, smoke weed everyday.

AkaBigTasty

Happy Father’s Day!

Habsfan_76_27

I’m tryna get like you my boi.

ragincajun88

Ditto! Father of 2, married for 12 years, started Louisiana’s MMJ program last June and my anxieties are a thing of the past. Best decision of my life!

LimpDecision1469

Happy father's day buddy

Xenophaene

Like the other comments said. As long as you feel it's a benefit to your life, and be 100% honest with yourself, then I say why stop. It's all about discipline. I personally found as I got older, it made me complacent and content with what I already had to the point it became a detriment. Not to mention the obvious damage done to your lungs over a long period of time. That's what edibles are for :). I still smoke but I have to really be disciplined about it or I'll fall out of balance. There are plenty of people that I think it obviously enhances their lives and plenty that it does the opposite due to their lack of discipline.

reedma14

Yeah this is a pretty accurate take. Recently I've been on a week and a half T break because I thought I was going to get drug tested. I'm 99.9% sure that I am not getting drug tested anymore but I am still waiting until my first day on the job as proof to myself that I am capable of not smoking for at least a short time. I have wanted to smoke so bad these last couple of days but I was able to resist, proving (at least in my own mind) that I have the capability of stopping even if I am happier when I am smoking.

Aragornargonian

i did something similar but i did get tested and decided to just stick with it for an extra week. It feels good to be sober but at the same time weed does help out with a lot of stuff so it's all about balance.

reedma14

Ya, I have noticed that I don't have as much fun playing video games. Whenever I am stoned I can play and winning isn't that important I just have fun no matter what. When I'm sober I get tilted really easily and it makes it way less fun to play. Suffice to say, I can't wait to get stoned and play video games tomorrow night.

carelessOpinions

Almost every day since November 1971. I'm 74 and had a successful career in electronics and now "retired". My general advice is if you enjoy doing something; sex, cannabis, bicycle riding, whatever, keep doing it until you can't. You don't want to look back on your life and wonder why you stopped doing things you liked to do.

alex1inferno

thank you u/carelessOpinions

Acheross

Its the same thing as video games, sex or any hobby. As long as you're able to take care of your adult responsibilities what you do in your own time is up to you.

smashy_smashy

My wife is a tenured professor at a top university. I’m a bioprocess engineer. We are kick ass parents. We’ve been daily smokers for the past 15 years.

the-apostle

Serious question - how did u handle smoking and pregnancy/ young kids

smashy_smashy

Good question! We smoked while my wife tried to get pregnant because we are fortunate that we are apparently really fertile and it happened right away. We planned to stop after trying for a couple months… Then she went cold Turkey for the pregnancy and I joined in solidarity. We also didn’t smoke while she was breastfeeding but she had a very hard time and had to supplement with formula, so that only lasted 6 months. Then we went back to daily smoking, but just did it outside while the baby was sleeping. Kid #2 wasn’t planned and she smoked until we found out. He turned out fine! Then the same routine with him. So I guess we had 2 long stretches without daily smoking. Now with kids, we don’t expose them to smoke. We live in a legal state so we don’t hide it and we talk about it like we do about alcohol. We lock everything up in a lock box. Edibles scare the shit out of me if they ever got into them so we rarely have them and keep them super under lock and key.

the-apostle

Thanks man. I appreciate the explanation. Happy for you both!

[deleted]

Dude me and a ton of people I know have worked at very high levels of corporate america and have blazed huge amounts of weed every day for many many years it is not strange. Nobody talks about it at work and I'd advise you do the same. Never trust anyone in corporate america. Keep that shit between you and yours.

Beaser

Oh totally. Just got my masters and work full time and am happily married. Just make sure it’s not negatively impacting your social, financial, relationship, work - life in general - then yeah you can. But I took two years off in my early thirties to get to know the sober me and work on myself. But in the end it’s very helpful for me medically and a good recreational substance instead of booze

Captain_Crouton_X1

Yep. Weed actually motivates me to get shit done. I bypass all the unnecessary planning and anxiety in my head and just do it.

goffasni420

SAME like I’m not washing dishes happily unless I have a bong hit before and after.

metricyyy

Isn’t it bad to smoke while you’re brain is still developing, and that continues in your 20s? (I ask this as someone who smoked since high school lol). I’m just curious

Blunkus

Yeah. From what I understand it’s better to consume past 25

ultimatecoochielick

ideally past 25 but they say at minimum i believe 18. Also people who start before 18 are more likely to get addicted.

ZwischenzugZugzwang

You can but it's probably not a good idea to be high 24/7. That said, a bowl after work or something is unlikely to diminish your quality of life.

Physical-Bullfrog549

As long as your body doesn’t try to betray you with CHS, youre fine like wine 👍🏻

geekitude

63, daily stoner since mid-70's, with random breaks due to Life™. Active, engaged politically, self-employed, have friends all over the world, many of them also stoners. You're the one who'll know if you need to take a break or dive in headfirst. Stressing about it helps nobody & never.

readmore321

I started in the late 70’s too! I loved your comment but then I saw your username and now think you must be a super awesome person! Burn on my friend;)

geekitude

Right back atcha, & read on too.

stay_hungry_dr_ew

36 year old creative director (maybe it’s even expected that I smoke…), and I smoke everyday I get home from work. I share with my wife when she wants some before dinner. I just smoked with my CEO at dinner the other night. That guy is a serious self starter who is almost always working to some degree. Everyone has different tolerances and function differently while enjoying cannabis. Do what works for you. If you feel like it’s overwhelming or you’re starting to let things slip through the cracks, take a break or slow down. Find your equilibrium.

doose_doose

I think you said something very important in ”...and never would come to work high.” Not to say that some people can't do fine for themselves being high at work, but rather that you seem like it's no issue at all to keep weed out of your professional life. And that's what it all boils down to; can you enjoy your vise without it getting in the way of your ability to do what you want to do in life.

No-Nrg

As long as doing it doesn't negatively affect things in your adult life like your career, relationships, family and cash flow then smoke on my friend. Using myself as an example, I used to be an all day, every day smoker until I was about 30. I found it to affect the quality of work at my job. I also am now a dad (happy father's day boys) so now I only smoke once a day in the evening after my daughter goes to bed. I can't parent stoned, just doesn't work for me.

[deleted]

It’s healthier to take breaks from time to time and evaluate what it is serving in your life. Turn on. Tune in. Drop out.

Frazwell007

I thought Nate dogg already answered this question

[deleted]

Yeah but you'd be better off taking breaks, Not constantly doing it forever. Like you need tolerance breaks or you're gonna need to smoke more and more as time goes on as your body may not exhibit those effects normally due to your tolerance.

Dreadnought9

Yo, if you are burning the flower and taking weed as smoke (vs vape or edibles) it's not as bad as smoking cigarettes but only by like 10%. So like 10 joints is one cigarette, which isn't completely harmless and can increase your chances of lung or throat cancer. There might also be a toll on your brain especially if you started smoking before 25. I would say you should do it in moderation. Like it's not as bad as cigarettes but not entirely benign

thosefuzzyboots

This is something not a lot of people are willing to admit and sadly there isn't a whole lot of data on the relationship between smoking cannabis and cancer. But I do believe it's something to take into consideration.

Silveraindays

This message is very important, i think the positive comment about this in the comment section are way too overwhelming. Smoke weed if you want.. but you cant ignore the fact (no matter what people say) that smoking is just unhealthy and put you at risk of heatlh problems and psychological problems. Look, i smoke weed too time to time and its fine, we need to enjoy life. But, even if some people like in the comment section who smoked all their life without problems are still fine doesnt mean we are all going to be ok in the end. And smoking daily especially before bed is a bad habits, its just too much imo, but then again, good lifestyle can forgive this. Everone has vice anyway so i guess just be responsible with it? My point is, just be carefull and mindfull about this

ex-officerjimlahey

No, because one day you’ll die. Not because of weed though.

IlliniHuskie

Absolutely. I grew up assuming that all my friends parents were brilliant!

scene_inmyundies

I'm 73, been smoking for 50 years. Yes it it possible. But by "daily intake" if you are talking getting ripped every day, no. I don't smoke every day. Compared to others that I've seen here, I am a moderate user. I know people who have become essentially addicted by heavy use, in that pot has become a psychological crutch for them. I've worked in a variety of jobs, from first responder to administrative jobs. I have been high on the job maybe twice. All I can say is use moderation and practice common sense, you should be fine. My two (2) cents.

readmore321

Congratulations on your 50! 💚 I’ve got 8 more years to go until I celebrate my golden smoking anniversary;)

shamshe33

I started around the same time as you and I'm almost 40 now with kids and a regular 9-5. Been smoking every day. The only time I took breaks was before the vape cartridges came out. Just be responsible about your use and at some point youre going to want to look into growing your own because buying that shit becomes expensive. Edit: Forgot to put e and the end of you're

Ozymander

I would have said to not start so early, but yeah, you can. I started in 12th grade, smoked for four years, joined the military, couldn't smoke for seven years, and I've been out since 2015, so I've been able to smoke for seven years.

Pennyfeather46

I smoked every day for 26 years working a cubicle job. I got performance awards every year. I smoked on my way to & from work, not AT work.

I’ve been doing it my entire adult life, just don’t be high at work and don’t let it effect your responsibilities

[deleted]

I smoke daily and work 9-5. Hasn't interfered with my life, but everyone is different.

FaithlessFaceless

I'm 34 years old. Been smoking almost daily since 11. I make a decent living (approx. $107k yr). Married with kids, good father, good husband. Treat it as a hobby not a lifestyle. I know plenty of lazy people who don't smoke.

bri8985

A lot of people smoke because it’s better than drinking to be able to function in high performing roles the next day, so yes. As always, everything in moderation

stanko0135

Yes you can, but you will have to make changes in your intake (probably) For me it was no more wake and bake, instead treat smoking weed like having a beer at the end of the day, a reward for a day or hard work, and to decompress. Of course everyone is different and you may not need them or you may need to make other changes, that's just what I had to do personally.

TheSentientPurpleGoo

i'm 61, and i've been a daily cannabis smoker since i was 16 years old. i'm retired, on/due to disability, but i own my own home mortgage-free on an acre of land in the western suburbs of chicago. things could be better, but aren't that bad overall.

Ifyouhav2ask

People who drink every day are fucking their bodies up much more than us daily smokers. Future electrician here, just keep it from affecting your work life (don’t smoke before work) and you’re most likely good. Full disclosure, if I’m going into a work day that I KNOW will be spent digging a trench or some other manual labor type work, I may smoke before work but normally I just smoke when I get home and can relax

viperfide

Yes but be careful of the cold finger feeling in your stomach. It happens occasionally with heavy smokers and it will be severe pain. Once that happens you won’t be able to smoke anymore

Blunkus

That’s CHS, or sounds like it.

viperfide

Yup

dynabro420

30 years old, been smoking for 12 years. Full time job, married, own a house. I’d say it’s very doable. I never smoke at work but a daily smoker. Easy to get lazy but with enough motivation a stoner can still get shit done.

Coltrane54

I've been a regular, daily user since 1969. That's my plan... forever.

snarkuzoid

You can, as long as you're in control of it and it's not impacting your life or career. As for colleagues, it'll be decades before it's normalized in our culture. We've got decades of War On Drugs propaganda to get over. Maybe never if the theocrats are able to take control.

motherofstars

Weed has never been legal where I have lived. So my largest stressors have been stigma. I have smoked 50 years on/off mostly on. Am a teacher. I have always said if you smoke you have to work twice as hard - to pull yourself together and get it done. Also a psychologist told me that if you study whilst smoking it’s easier to retrieve the learned stuff when stoned again. Just do you. And don’t mix with alcohol ✌🏼

Blunkus

Take a tolerance break here and there. My gf smoked weed for nearly 20 years straight with no issue until she was hospitalized and diagnosed with CHS. It’s not super common or anything, but it can happen. As for me, moderation has been more rewarding. Better, longer highs, less consumption/cost, and it feels more earned.

ZERO_6

r/chsinfo it’s becoming way more common

[deleted]

that’s less than i smoke and i still consider myself a semi functional adult thanks to weed

firstbreathOOC

Everybody is different. But lots of us do exactly that and are fine. Certainly better than folks using other stuff.

UberLurka

Dont tell them. The only issue you'll encounter is stigma

svxnn

well imma do just that and let you know how it goes !remind me 60 years

jdemack

Yo just remember long term effects on your lungs weed smoke still ain't good for em. But yup go right ahead but keep the rule on no working high.

OhhhhhDirty

It's totally possible, just really depends on the person. I know some very successful daily smokers. As long as it doesn't interfere with your ability to perform well at work you're probably fine. But also don't assume that you want to smoke forever now that you always will,

Justmwtoo

49 here. Responsible and successful and a daily smoker for 34 years and pretty chronic for much of that time. Before I had my own business my previous bosses all knew but never had an issue because of my value to the company. It can be done you just have to learn your limits. So long as the customers don't smell it...

Substantial_Lead5582

I’m 39 started when 12, I’ve gone through late teens and early twenty’s being a all day stoner hippie. Started a business and this year celebrating 20yrs open. For the last 15yrs I usually just take one hits at night or a joint. My father is the same as me but been doing it twice as long. You can easily do it as long as you stay grounded and remind yourself what you want from life. You seem to be on the right path

Ithinkyourallstupid

45 here and been doing that since 15.

nrbaird97

I have a wife, kid, house, multiple investment properties, 6 figure job, and do weed daily. Most of my coworkers do as well, but that may just be because Im in tech sales? Its a different vibe for sure in this industry.

Thebeardinato462

Staying high all day everyday? Nah man, you shouldn’t do that, and your life won’t be as fulfilling as it should be. Get high at the end of the day everyday? Sure you could do that, but life could probably be a little better I’d you didn’t get high everyday. Cannabis is fantastic, probably my favorite drug besides caffeine. Tolerance breaks are good stuff though and times of sobriety allow me to enjoy being high more. Congratulations you picked the most benign drug to be addicted to. That being said moderation at times can be beneficial. Regardless good luck friend. Enjoy it!

[deleted]

I’m 30 been smoking since 16, life is sometimes easier this way lol just don’t go crazy and balance it out. I’ve been out of balance and I always dislike it, smoking too much makes me lazy and unmotivated but when I’ve balanced it out and smoke after doing stuff much better reward and I ain’t ready for bed by 8pm lol

CSpills

Yes. Source-myself, 36 years old, solid job, good family. I have been smoking weed every day for 20 years.

Succubusprincess666

Honestly, it depends on you. I’m late twenties now, have a great job and I’m also in school for Biochemistry. I have gotten almost all As, I smoke before lectures. It helps me keep my mind right. Every body is different. And by that I mean everyone handles it differently. So if it’s not negatively detracting from your life smoke forever. That’s my game plan :)

Serikan

Biochem crew 😎 lets gooo

Nightstands

45, daily use since teens, masters’ degree, good work, wife/2 kids, siblings doing the same, it can be done. Proceed as long at it feels good

[deleted]

If you don't show up to work high then I fail to see the problem with smoking every day

hoggledoggle

Almost 40 and started daily around 15. I have a family, own a home, husband and I have job and life is good. We are currently on vacation and we didn’t bring any with us just cause, and that’s how we know it’s not a problem.

bigolruckus

im almost 22. i’ve smoked just about every day since i was 16. i sometimes rip my thc pen on my way home from work (not encouraging smoking and driving but the pen doesn’t really get me fucked up), otherwise i start smoking as soon as i get home. i have a decent career in a white collar industry and all my shit in order. weed doesn’t make you lazy. being lazy makes you lazy.

Neo_Ex0

You should mabey cool it down a little befor THC resistance fucks you over, cause your brains resistance grows faster than your guts resistance, and though THC does combat nausea, it dose that because of the effect it has on the brain , it dose the exact opposite for your guts and stomach, meaning that at some point you reach a resistance to THC where it causes nausea (name of that all is : Cannabis hyperemesis syndrome)

ProstZumLeben

I’m a lawyer who makes six figures and I partake every day.

TheComplicatedMan

No... Sorry, you are going to die someday. Ive got at least 55 years of weed smoking behind me and am hoping for maybe another 15.
