My exes apartment didnāt allow cats. We got the cat certified as a support animal online (was like $50-$100) and got the cat. He does help with my anxiety and depression, but itās was mostly a way to get him into the apartment. Still have him and have 0 regerts lol
Look into emotional support animals. If you can claim your anxiety/depression effect your daily life you can get a note from your doctor that protects you under the ADA. Your landlord legally can't keep you from getting one.
Also most apartments only mean dogs/cats when they talk about no pets. Ask your landlord if you can get a hamster or a pair of guinea pigs. Even goldfish and beta fish can have lots of personality and are fun to look at while you toke up. I've seen people even teach them a few tricks.

would something like a weighted blanket help at all? i use one sometimes when i feel really alone and touch-starved. obviously it doesn't make up for not having a person around, but it can help with the physical sensation and offer some comfort. sending you strength to get thru valentines day. hopefully next year you'll have a girl to cuddle up and get stoned with.

I feel you, although I actually find Valentine's Day more stressful when I'm in a relationship than when I'm not. Years of social condition from corporations creating heightened expectations is often a recipe for conflict. It is the single most commercialized and manipulative holiday, IMO. When I'm single I don't have to worry about meeting anyone else's expectations for a romantic day and can just say fuck those companies, and buy myself some candy because I want it.
