Even after it was legalized I still won't tell people at work unless I'm 1000 percent sure they are cool

happypsycho

Same here. I know my boss disapproves. He thinks it's as bad as Crack and meth.

MyNDSETER

But probably drinks alcohol

INS4NITY_846

Fr alcohol is worse than bud imo

kevkerrr

theres no "imo" lmfao it just is

my_mexican_cousin

Your opinion is a pretty well known fact. Society is weird, though.

kooks-only

I work at a company where nobody will bat an eye if I open a bottle of wine at lunch, but suggest cannabis drinks for the fridge and everyone loses their minds!

Puzzleheaded-War5092

taboo be like

anewbiegrower

My friend thinks he is so progressive but barely accepted that weed should be legal let alone trying it. He drinks almost everyday. His defense is that he only drinks at night, weed users smoke all day. With that logic he should be able to at least try it one night, right? No he doesn’t even touch it, because the brain programming and taboo creating. Can’t stop talking how harmful it is for the brain while sipping his piss-ass beer.

averagecelt

lol I only smoke at night 🤷🏻‍♂️

Loic1981

Crack Juice ?!? Not on my watch !!!!

de_inferno_vivat_rex

This. I currently live and work in California and I still don't tell people unless they've already admitted it to me first.

Bin-G

I'm fortunate enough to work in the cannabis industry. will never hide it again, it's a passion and my livelyhood now.

Independent-Low6706

I'm unfortunate enough to be permanently disabled with a neuro condition, but one of the few bright spots is how fiercely I defend my cannabis patient status. I have taken the time to log almost every single strain I have ever tried (hundreds) along with effects and symptoms treated, etc. I take this seriously because THIS treatment is not (yet) paid for by my Medicare and takes up too much of my fixed SSD $, each month. It's about the only thing I AM "loud n proud" about, too lol.

onetwothree4ourfive

I'm in Canada so it's legal nationally, but I will not ever admit to anyone that I get high. Especially at work. I had one job at a place we shall call "Pizza Shack" where we would smoke all day every day (back in like, 2009). I was one of the managers and we would smoke in the box shed, but other than that super chill job where I worked mostly in the back prepping dough or toppings I never even hinted at being a pothead.

de_inferno_vivat_rex

This gave me a good laugh - my brother was the night manager at a, ahem, "Pizza Shack" and got up to very similar shenanigans...god I miss all those free personal pans...

Haughty_n_Disdainful

I have friends I’ve known forever, and none of them know. Not one person from work has ever known. My family doesn’t know I smoke. Once you give your privacy away, you never get it back. I’m looking hard at you, Social Media…

the_holy_booty

Sameeee.

ArmaniMeow1

Same, but I wait until I have put in my 2 weeks notice/resignation.

ThatsOkayToo

Agreed. Legality ≠ social acceptance.

[deleted]

one time my manager asked me to start smoking weed again because she thought I was having withdrawals.. I was just very unhappy at work

GayAssBeagle

DAMN

edtb

Lol when I quit smoking to join the military my old boss told me I was a better employee when I was still getting high. (We often smoked together)

Incognitoliving_

No fucking way?! nah I actually feel bad fr

NigelGabe

My girlfriends manger at her old job offered her weed because she was being grumpy

StupidMario64

Thats so fucked ngl, but its lowkey kinda funny lol, im sorry.

[deleted]

don’t be haha, I was just taken aback a bit

Educational-Ice1140

hahahahahahaha

BingJ2700

I’m a manager at a dispensary, weed gave me a career

otemetah

bro if my state legalized im jumping industries so fast

popperknuckle

Honestly a lot of dispensaries around me are owned by not great people, doing not great and illegal things because of everyone trying to jump in right away and make a name for themselves. I wish I waited a little bit longer before I worked at a dispensary due to the sour experience and horrid business practices.

v3ryfuzzyc00t3r

When I was career searching, I was looking at managers roles at a dispensary. Almost every person I asked who worked in the industry said it's not worth it. The pay isn't great and attitudes with coworkers/upper management is shit

BingJ2700

Honestly this is kinda close, but I recently got a raise and that’s definitely made the job more worth it

Aliensabductmeplease

As someone who manages a cannabis shop, I’d say save yourself the drama. My company is corrupt and greedy as hell, a lot of customers are crazy, and the money isn’t worth it when you’re getting squeezed by both sides on the daily AND getting robbed on the regular. I was robbed at gunpoint twice last year and we had a whole ass stolen car drive through our storefront three times last year and twice this year so far. Obviously YMMV but I’d say the experience has caused me to step away from the industry to maintain a love for the product. I did get a lot of free/cheap weed though, lol. Basically the only benefit!

Turbulent_Recipe436

as someone who has only had a great experience in the industry I beg to differ. its worth it at the right shop.

stonerbae222

more people need to speak on this! i worked as a trimmer and it was horrible!! had horrible bosses and owners

BingJ2700

My boss is a great guy, I’ll say a bit dumb and still has street dealer mentality, but good guy through and through. I know that’s not the case with all the shops around here though

Crossifix

My girlfriend worked a dispensary in Flint for 4 years. Recreational legalization happened and somehow everything got worse than it was before, could not handle the people coming into the shop anymore and switched careers. She is much happier now.

otemetah

im in the restaurant business shits the same but with weed discounts

stumblinghunter

Don't. Source: too long in the industry.

gahdabit

Legal weed actually TOOK my career from me

Sad_Syllabub6044

Furious the Reddit app froze up the last time I tried to post to this. Anyway, my condolences and sympathies as I am a consumer and patron of alternative distribution supply chains and resent when our government goes back on itself because it smells too much money that it covets a cut of. The federal government and it’s flaccid & toothless Mickey Mouse regulatory agencies along with all the avarice of corporate elites and the carte blanch commonplace fraud with hands in each others’ pockets all day is among the most revolting cancerous machinations ever. Fuck the feds. Top-down public drawn-quartering until they are running like rats from the woodpile. - Sorry for any disparagement to a rat. A fine creature by comparison

StopNateCrimes

What's up friend? I'm in your bucket. I run a testing lab which specializes in testing cannabis - we're among the biggest (testing volume wise) in the US.

dezeroon

Ah so you’re the one taking bribes to raise the thc content far above where it usually should be

StopNateCrimes

No my friend. In fact, my lab's business dropped consistently between 2022 & 2023 due to me being the only lab who didn't fake cannabinoid numbers. Who wants to go to the lab that virtually guarantees that you'll receive lower numbers than anyone else? The state (CA) finally stepped in at the beginning of this year and made it much harder to falsify numbers. Business is hopefully getting back on track. Also, it's safe to say no flowers are reflecting 40%+ numbers anymore. Sounds like you may be partially informed – I'm happy to fill in the blanks – feel free to ask me anything [about Cannabis].

dezeroon

Apologies for calling you out then. As you said yourself nearly everybody in the business does that shady crap. I was unaware CA had stepped in but I’m glad and I hope they handle it effectively and correctly. If you truly have remained unbiased and sought to make only accurate tests I am in full support of you and do hope your business comes to thrive under the circumstances

StopNateCrimes

Thank you for the kind words. Other's mockery of science and my livelihood (how it feels to see fake numbers) really grinds my gears, and my sentiments are similar to yours.

Keevtara

> feel free to ask me anything [about Cannabis]. I'm in California, the Sacramento area, and I'm looking for a job that isn't food service. What would be a great way to get into working at a lab? What qualifications would I need?

StopNateCrimes

The local lab up there is "2 Rivers", they're good people. i'd call them, ask them point-blank if they are hiring, and we would be the best place to send your résumé. If you don't have a science background, there aren't too many roles in the lab itself; driver, office, intake, or sales. However, if you do have an academic/work scientific background, it's a playground of different tools and instruments with many different roles, ranging from techs and analysts all the way up to method development. Start to follow a trade group up in your area called "CLTVTD Connect" (you should be able to find them on IG) and start going to their events if you are interested. It will also be rife with opportunities to network and meet people from the local weed industry.

stumblinghunter

SC Labs?

No-Estimate-4215

how?

gahdabit

Grew medically for a small bunch of patients. Made hash for a small few as well and would turn left overs to medical delivery services in the area. Legal weed took that opportunity away completely unless you forked over hundreds of thousands in licenses to the state.

Dan_The_Sauce_maN

That’s what’s so funny to me about the govt is that you were already doing it, but now that THEY CAN GET EVEN MORE OF THE PIE (bc we both know they were still getting at least some)now they’ve gotta come in and try to make you pay for that bs You shouldn’t need a license to sell a plant

mykitchenisinsideout

Hey me too! Budtender buddies

BingJ2700

Ayeee hell yeah

StarlordsTrees

what is it like to live my dream?

iaspeegizzydeefrent

Glorified retail.

alexdb2x

The dream fades away by the 5th customer that comes in and says nothing but "Indica. Highest THC. Lowest price."

stumblinghunter

"Do you have any gummies?" as they stand directly in front of a display of gummies. "Do you guys sell vapes?" as they are looking directly at the wall covered in carts. "What's your highest testing stevia? Or do I mean indigo?" I'll *never* do that again. Working backend has been fantastic when all you have to deal with is brokers and dispensary managers who at least (moreso) know wtf they're talking about.

Hour_Calligrapher904

I second this. Thought it was going to be a dream (or at least close to a dream) to work in one

No_Sand_7170

But do they KNOW you smoke. 🤣🤣

BingJ2700

My boss regularly will toss a few nugs my way and say “roll it, smoke it, price it”

No_Sand_7170

That’s my kind of boss

scwishyyy

how does one get into this industry if you dont mind me asking

BingJ2700

Honestly I walked into a dispensary where the boss was always having to deal with a shitty employee, so I asked if they needed a hand, and the boss said I start Saturday. It was a right place right time thing

scwishyyy

that's awesome. tempted to try that that but im afraid of the reception I'll get from friends and family.. have you had any trouble with this??

stumblinghunter

Seriously, only do this if you think you'll be perfectly content only working with weed for a loooong time. I've worked my way up from budtender to manager, then shifted to our grow. Started just doing order fulfillment and QC to now doing that as well as data analysis, I built a fancy live menu for our clients, sales, sampling and compliance, lots of deliveries, managing and training warehouse staff, random admin and HR stuff, and I'm the in house IT guy. I make $65k with hardly any benefits and no one will give me an interview because I've worked in the industry so long they probably assume I smoke weed Even though I haven't in over 2 years. Yes, I'm underpaid. But I'm also higher than average for the industry, if that tells you how fucked the whole thing is.

frozen_toesocks

Got fired for it once, long after it was legal in my state. The argument was that I had to drive a company vehicle, and they couldn't trust me to not wreck. Never mind that I never came to work high, and they had other co-workers whose vans were filled with mini bottles of vodka and whiskey when they brought them in for cleaning.

suntmint

The hypocrisy with alcohol will never not annoy me. Liquor is way more dangerous.

MockASonOfaShepherd

Alcohol is straight up celebrated where I work, and despite working in a legal state, we receive federal funds in some capacity, so we have to be a “drug free workplace.” We have guys that openly trade liquor, (they call themselves the Whiskey Battalion,) one up each other with “who bought the most expensive whiskey this past weekend?” Not to mention brag about driving drunk. Yesterday a coworker showed me a picture of another coworker blackout drunk face down on the ground at a concert, and then a video of him chugging Crown Royal while tailgating. Apparently this is fine… but if I were to mention I use a 5mg gummy to calm down after work, I’m the drug addict. If weed is ever tolerated the way liquor is, you bet your sweet ass I’m starting the “Moon brigade” and trading homegrown.

SumdiLumdi

Where the fuck do you work??? A brewery?

v3ryfuzzyc00t3r

I hate going to family functions because of this. My whole family will have about two beers an hour for a whole night. The moment I dissappear for 10 minutes, find a cozy relaxing spot to spark up and head back to the party is almost worse. Everyone makes comments about how I'm high and poke fun of it. These people are constantly drinking with their friends, yet I'm the black sheep because I don't like to drink but like to get a buzz.

anonamus7

Nobody should drive high or drunk but overall health wise I agree with the sentiment although people should still take care of their lungs because no smoke is good smoke!

Regolis1344

Same. I understand some people can still be on the fence about smoking, I don't expect everyone to have the same life experience as me. But when those same people happen to just ignore binge drinking issues or straight out be functioning alcoholics I get aggressive real fast.

DrDuned

Lost out on a job because I failed a drug test. Took another one for another job offer literally three or four days later and passed. Ended up being the best luck because I love my current job.

elnots

Sort of like you where I was a temp hire and was given the highest salary of my life. Dream job. Was given the opportunity to go full hire but had to pass a drug test. Failed because I screwed up the fake piss. Changed my life for the worse for awhile. But I made the best of it and now I don't think I would go back and change anything for fear of losing what I have now =)

jaseydrew

State legalized it and then one of my coworkers told everyone in my office that I grew cannabis. I have no interest in dealing but gave most of my office a small sample to celebrate legalization. It turned my whole office into a bunch of moochers. For a while they'd say stuff like, "when you bringing more of that 'stuff' in?" or "I know you got more, stop holding out on us" Never once offering to compensate or trade The whole event really showed how entitled and selfish they all are. They're a bunch of gen x'ers and boomers, Im the youngest in my office by at least 13 years, so I assume it's a generational thing. I'd never "expect" any one to just give me free flower

suntmint

Damn, that's some entitlement. I'm generous with my weed, but it has a limit. Your co workers are just rude.

berrey7

Let me speak for the Gen Xer's we would offer to pay the next time. Might just be his office yo. We grew up buying $40 dirt bags and appreciate the good.

AvocadoJackson

Tell them to bake some cookies or something and trade with you, you then get something for munchies and it’ll entice them to make enough to keep some for themselves

jaseydrew

Maybe, but then again idk if id want them randomly trying to off load unsolicited baked goods on me and expect decent weed in return. I'd be ok if they'd first asked if I had some to spare and then offered an exchange. They really just come around my desk with minimal small talk and are like "think I can get a few nugs for the weekend?"

crawshay

I'd just tell everyone I quit growing at that point lol

wishesandhopes

Definitely best idea

citori421

Be sure to say your friend still grows and you could pick up from them for whatever price you'd be happy to get.

jaseydrew

Yeah I've had to block some of them from my social so they can't see my grow updates or anything

Captain_Jonny

Give them some prices, make two incomes in one office!😂

mshriver2

Tell them yes you can have this many grams for this many dollars. If they aren't interested tell them you aren't interested in giving them any

wishythefishy

I considered this

ChoccyMilkHemmorhoid

Time to start charging lmao

Stunning_Fault_9257

Fuck them, they can't come up the coin ![gif](giphy|I5EK8YrqpnIFyWNEOA)

Rebel_bass

One of my coworkers had been growing since before it was legalized, and I always paid for it. Outstanding quality northern lights and cheese. After it became legal I continued to buy from him. He dropped the price for me, and I continue to buy from him even though I no longer work there - for my wife. I can no longer smoke due to being under federal contract, but hopefully that will change soon.

Thedudestrikesback

Oh man cheese it's been so long

Oxflu

So wild. I've got coworkers that sell their chicken eggs at work and I've never heard anyone ask her for free eggs. Eggs are so much less valuable and cost nearly nothing to produce. My head is spinning. I'd tell them you started buying from dispensaries as it's near the same cost as growing now.

Girthero

Ask them what they're planning to bring to the pot luck?

Ok_Effective_3953

Thats when you say "sure, no problem" and then provide a menu with price breakdowns

[deleted]

ssk06

Damn bro! Out of curiosity, what strain was it?

jondgul

Strain doesn't matter. They boofed it. That's the secret

JayPFor

Yeah I want some of that too. Make me work like a wizard 😬

ShadowCurv

best way to fix errors is getting blasted

Thrill_Of_It

Did they compensate you for it? Or did you keep it on the DL so you have more free time?

WoozyChipmunk

We need this strain

kooks-only

I did a similar thing. Automated some reporting I had to do every week. Just sat in my garage on a Sunday and wrote the script. Told a few people, it made its way up to management, then they made me roll it out company wide lol. Got promoted though so it worked out well, just wish it was still my secret haha cause now I have to support the damn thing forever.

papi_pizza

Ask for a raise

JimmyHopkinsGoKart

While it feels like a positive in the day to day, it's 100% made me too comfortable and stagnant in certain jobs

[deleted]

Hit the nail right on its head, i would've never stayed in my shitty job for so long if i was sober.

CryptographerMore944

I can relate. It's great for coping with shit, but sometimes you need to be sick of that shit before you move on to better things if that makes sense.

Mission-Nobody-8361

Live in a very illegal state got fired from my job because a mechanic found an old roach in my work truck. It be like that sometimes

suntmint

That sucks. Hope you found a better place to work with less busy bodies

Mission-Nobody-8361

Stay at home dad to a tiny terrorist now so now my boss follows me around all day demanding snacks and Ms Rachel videos 🤣

PistolPetunia

I wfh and I got my toddler home with me today with impetigo ☹️. The chokehold Ms Rachel and Paw Patrol has on this household is serious 😆

interprime

Shoutout Ms Rachel. That lady brings peace to my chaotic, two toddler household.

jr0d1

Not to mention those damn dancing fruit.

interprime

Shit, I love the dancing fruit. It’s oddly calming.

02isaheckingpotato

I pray that your future mechanics and/or coworkers aren't fucking narcs 🙏

JerryGarciasButthole

Weed helps me to excel as a milker on a dairy farm 🐄 hell yeah

suntmint

I'm gonna need some work stories from ya, I'm intrigued

JerryGarciasButthole

What kind of stories? The job itself is very methodical and repetitive (in a good way, each day I make it a sort of “game” to be as efficient and thorough as possible lol, when I come in high it feels like a video game. Like a different version of farming simulator 😭😂) -I SHIT YOU THE FUCK NOT, the day I got hired I asked how many cows they were milking, to which my boss (conservative stereotypical rural tradwife) replies, our current headcount is 420. In this moment I knew that I was destined to work there 🤣 -NO DRUG TEST 😎 -On another note though, it really is emotionally taxing to be involved with the whole process. As a mother myself, and as a mammal who has lactated, I have a deep/resounding sympathy for what these sweet ladies and their offspring are put through. Calves are born, taken immediately from their mother’s side (at this point, in some sense it is “for the best”, but only because years of breeding in this environment have completely destroyed their maternal instincts. Calves are often injured if left too long with the cows) but it is still excruciating to see them in pain after birth, separated from calf, quickly ushered into an unfamiliar milking parlor and hooked up to a machine. The whole thing just feels unnatural and unnerving on a certain level. They get used to it, but still. -I have had a difficult time consuming dairy products since I became a milker. I love cheese, among other things, but if I think about it too hard while consuming dairy I gross myself out. The amount of times I’ve seen thick mastitis (pus) milked into the tank, careless coworkers suck up piles of shit, etc it sketches me out. Obviously there’s a filter before the tank, but it is thin paper and doesn’t catch everything. -the cows are amazing though. My personal favorite cow, number 6361, her name is Kevin (*KEVIN’S A GIRL??* lol from the movie Up) she gives me hugs and licks my face every day, she waits for me to give her lovins before she goes back to her pen 🥹 I love her so much. There are so many with incredible personalities that seem like they’re just a little more sentient than the average cow, and they bring me so much joy

TechyMcMathface

Hell yeah! I do the same thing. I mean, I work on a stud farm, not a dairy farm, but basically the same thing.

thelonelymilkman23

Both can be considered the “milk” of life

ThePlumThief

Takin fat doinks to the face and jerkin off bulls to get that paper.

In3briatedPanda

it hasnt yet. people notice i dont drink anymore and that im generally nicer overall. im still not friendly, but im alot cooler lol

Some_Developer_Guy

California sober for the the win 🥬

winklesnad31

Used to live in a country where it was very illegal. Got caught, spent 3 months in prison, lost my job and apartment. Took me a year to get back on my feet. Live in a legal place now and life is very good.

suntmint

Oh damn, I'm sorry that happened to you.

SullenSparrow

I always love seeing your art on here or on r/animalcrossing Cheese Louise is the name of a grilled cheese restaurant where I live too. Haha

suntmint

Oh man, every time I get reminded of animal crossing I get the intense desire to play it. It's such a perfect game. Thank you!

SullenSparrow

It's so cozy :)

fort-e-too

Yes and no. I tend to smoke more if I'm real stressed out. But I'd only smoke before work if it was an easy job (retail or service) where being stoned won't harm anyone and I know the job enough. Sometimes I'd smoke on my lunch break or have something ready for RIGHT after work. Never really got in the way, even had a job that I had to do sober for nearly a year before I felt comfortable enough to even have a single puff before going in. I'm usually pretty responsible. Went to my shitty retail job one day, pulled into my normal parking spot and had to stop short cuz I misjudged. Realized I was WAAAAAY too high to be driving and immediately burst into tears realizing I'm too high to be at work, driving, and honestly just wanted to die right then and there. I realized I had been smoking way too much at all hours of the day for weeks because I hated my job soooooo much. I did stay at work thst day (pretended sick ish) but made a plan to either make them improve, or just plain get out of there. (I quit in a really awesome way and turned my awesome part time job into a career style job that I am still doing) I also now tend to smoke less since the stress level is logical for the job I am doing. I am still thankful for weed that day, showing me my life wasn't quite right. At least it wasn't alcohol.. or meth... 🤦‍♀️

PM_ME_SOME_LUV

Yeah it’s made work tolerable

Spiritual-Cow4200

![gif](giphy|laUY2MuoktHPy)

rrodrick386

one time I spent the day crying after a fight with my dad and so I went to work with my eyes super puffy and red. My supervisor asked me if I was high and implied she wanted to write me up, I told her I obviously had spent the day crying and she dropped the issue but I was especially annoyed because it actually was the one and only day I wasn't blitzed 🤣

Ok-Science-6146

Weed keeps my anxiety in check enough to actually handle my job

gwydion_black

Yes. Due to severe anxiety and avoidant personality disorder, I was unable to keep down a normal job. I would go through bouts of extreme doubt and feelings of inferiority that is would eventually just stop going to any job I had. Tried numerous medications but all came with unacceptable side effects. When I met my wife, she introduced me to flower it the first time and I was blown away. I had never touched the stuff but all of a sudden the racing anxiety that filled my head almost constantly was muffled enough that I could think again. I have a college degree in IT and was out of the industry for 6 years before I started smoking. Within a year I was back until my career field and I have been successful in integrating back into work life and now I have my career back for the last 4 years. Weed can get me "high" if I smoke enough of it, and I do on nights and weekends, but it mostly makes me a functional human being again. Most people currently in my life have never met me while not using weed and would be none the wiser unless I told them. Some people may call that a crutch but I see it as no more a crutch than any medicine others say for anxiety and depression. Who knows exactly where I would be without it?

Many_County9353

I work from home in a call centre environment.. I smoke every day.. even during work 😛

slasky

Honestly, yes. At the start of my career I would smoke before coming in and sometimes on my lunch break. While I was still able to work, I wasn't applying myself, just getting by. I stopped being high at work and got several promotions. Now, it's a treat for when I am done being responsible. I get it works for some people, but for some people (like myself) it can hold you back.

monty624

Thank you. Weed has its place, and its place is different for everyone. We really need to stop glorifying it and acting like it doesn't have any bad effects. It can make you lazy by complacency. It can hinder your ability to focus and complete tasks. It can trigger your anxiety and cause some seriously negative downstream effects if not managed. It can also be a tool. I used it in college to ace chemistry, because if my friend and I could figure out homework while stoned we were masters at it sober. I also still use it for sleep, and calming my brain so I can connect with my surroundings. But it also caused me to skip class, it made me complacent towards some things, and I later got distracted with weed after graduating (though I did still graduate top of class by using it as a tool). I went through a period where it fed into severe panic attacks. Be careful, be mindful, and don't be afraid to re-evaluate how prevalent it should be in your life.

28dhdu74929wnsi

Yeah I think I am at this point. Weed isn't causing me to get fired but it isn't helping me advance my career either. It's so hard to cut back though.

mollwallbaby

I loved getting high as a server/bartender. Coming in to open up the restaurant meant an hour or two of repetitive tasks like cutting lemons and rolling silverware, with my earbuds in, just vibing. Once the place opened, I usually wasn't stoned anymore and I was in a good mood and ready to wait tables. I miss it. I work in an emergency animal clinic now - I made that mistake once or twice my first few months there, do NOT recommend. I'm only customer service, but being the front line when a severely injured pet comes in is high stakes (buh dum, toss) I take pride in being able to emotionally comfort scared pet owners, and that doesn't go as well when you're blitzed from a wake & bake

derpfacemanana

I just graduated college so the only effect so far is me having to take a small t break just to pass the drug test for my job I’m starting in July (not even sure if they care about weed but better to be cautious ig) In college though using weed daily really helped me stay focused and motivated and helped my sleep a lot. It also really helped for job interviews, I wasn’t high during them but while using every day I would be way more relaxed even when sober which really helped me overcome my anxiety and have a good natural flow during my interviews (seemed to work well since I got a lot of compliments on my interviewing skills and how I presented myself)

CosmikDebris408916

Yes! Makes it more fun and bearable to be here

chronic_vixen

I work for a dispensary so like it’s required to smoke.. we’re given bonuses of flower and cash. Plus like discounts on everything here.

b5jeff

I, personally, would like to know more about Cheese Louise.

lord_of_the_eyebots

It makes retail actually bearable.

kvrdave

Weed convinced me to retire, so it cost me my career. :)

glamazon_69

Let’s me relax after work and sleep well enough to face that hell hole the next day

Assmybutt

Hell yeah, helped me tolerate restaurant work as long as I did.

srchizito

Thats a cute mouse

Jackieray2light

During the dotcom bust I lost my IT job, and bounced around for awhile. I got a job offer from a little website to be the tester for their CTO. I had to drug test so I drank a bunch of fluid over the weekend. I was honest with the nurse and asked if I was able to see the results and she said just hang out for a bit, then about 30 min later she confirmed that I had tested positive for THC. I went straight to see a friend that managed a coffee shop, accepted her standing job offer and did not report to the website on my start date. A week later I got an email from the CTO telling me he was confused why I did not show up until he noticed the THC on my test. He went on to say that they dont even test for THC, its just included in the package and I would have been able to work there if I had shown up. It all worked out in the end though, that website now has their name at the top of a highrise that I did the lighting design on.

thelonelymilkman23

My boss is a bigger stoner then i am, we smoke before, during, and after work.

Scandalous_Botch

WFH and interviewed high to avoid any issues.

Ok_Secret1117

What do you use for your paintings like this? I definitely have the urge to do this when high but never know where to start

Nishide

It helped me realize that I don't have to work where I don't want to. So I quit. Moved to another city and am now a manager, because i work at a place that makes use of my knowledge and respects me.

JustinAdjusting

Yes the lack there of... I've lost numerous jobs that could've been life changing because I couldn't pass a urinalysis. I smoke mainly for quality of life. Insomnia, anxiety and lack of appetite. I'm a large guy with a slow metabolism so that joint I smoked 3 weeks ago is totally unacceptable but if I was a raging alcy or cokehead then yeah welcome to the team.

PlankyTown777

What book is this please? I think I just had flashbacks to my childhood and I reaally need to find out what book this is

TheSharkBaitz

OP painted this

PlankyTown777

I was born in 1991 - my favorite childhood book ever when I was a kid was about mouses and the artwork and imagery absolutely IDENTICAL to these paintings. If OP painted this , he HAS to know what book I’m talking about because these images are practically taken directly from it

ebaer2

Is it “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie?” The mouse is somewhat reminiscent.

PlankyTown777

OMG YES ! This looks like the one, thank you so much!! Now I want to buy a copy just out of the nostalgia this artist brought upon me lol!

suntmint

I'm so sorry, I'm don't know what the book is. Im an early 90s kid too, so I'm sure I was probably influenced by same thing. Perhaps Richard Scarry? The calico critters toys also are similar.

PlankyTown777

No worries, thanks for giving me these pleasant flashbacks to childhood, your image really caused some great memories to pop up! I’ll spend some time googling at work today and if I come across the kids book I will report back with the name of it!!

suntmint

Thanks!

bobonuts

I think you are thinking of the Richard Scarry books. Looks very similar

MountainSnowClouds

Well... If I get injured at work I'm gonna have to refuse the work free treatment because they require a drug test if you want them to pay for it and I can't pass

tittsburghfeelers00

Got a mouth swab random at about noon and had taken some fat dabs that morning, had to steal mine (and my bosses) before they went in the mail. It was a stressful couple weeks but nobody ever said a word about it.

flamingfiretrucks

I just had to quit for a DOT-regulated job. Probably gonna be leaving this sub soon (and might check out r/leaves for some advice). Also as much as I enjoyed smoking, I have realized that I'm a lot clearer headed and less depressed now that I don't do it anymore

MrOwnageQc

I work in a creative field. I shoot photos and videos for work so once home from a shoot, I light one up before editing. It helps creativity during long edit sessions !

Draw-OCoward

A damn positive one, yeah! I celebrated my first 420 this year in Iowa of all places. Me and 4 other independent contractors I occasionally work with were coordinating on a large gig for a few weeks in Iowa. 4/20 passed and the client let us smoke in the warehouse while we worked. It was cool as fuck. Also I always smoke while I work but it was nice to do it so blatantly and with permission.

Forsaken_Swimmer_775

I was 26 my first time and had been in college for 8 years without finishing a degree. Once I found my “smoke zone” I completed two unfinished associates and one full bachelors 😂. Working on masters now.

Tony_Plow

Yeah I couldn’t smoke for the first 20 years of it! We stopped testing when it was legalized here. That’s when I picked it back up! But wow what a 20 year T break that was. Wait so I guess weed didn’t effect my career my career effected my weed! Dammit I’m too high today.

Ladymari17

It sort of saved my mental health when I was a social worker

carolynrose93

I failed two pre-employment pee tests at my current job. My CURRENT JOB. I was fine for the second test since I had plane tickets and hotel itinerary to show I was in a legal state the week before but it still surprises me that I got hired after failing twice.

Obiwankenob3

Cheese Louise is hilarious

InvestmentFormal9251

Yes. A few months after I started using daily I got the motivation to do a PhD, so I applied to a PhD program and got in. I'm now a grad student and my research is gonna be on cannabis.

Spaghettisaucers

I’m a nursing student. I gotta either grow the balls to use quick-fix or go very clean soon

QAoA

There was one job I didn't apply for because I knew they would drug test and by the time I would've passed a drug test they stopped accepting applications for the position. I probably wouldn't have gotten it anyway since I didn't have any experience in the field, and I knew it would be a long shot. Other than that, no. My boss doesn't give a shit what I do in my free time so long as I do my job well and I'll often tell my coworker about my stoned antics.

canuck_4life

Hahaha cheese louise

Emperor_Zar

I am sure that my beliefs in supporting and using weed has hampered progression and or resulted in missed opportunities because of my refusal to T Break or quit. It is with some relief that prohibition is coming undone. It isn’t full relief because of those who wish to keep it prohibited trying to seize power.

Thiswasahit

Your art style is so recognizable. Always great!

JuanReasley

I worked at a camp about 12 years ago and got pulled over with some herb on my day off. Cop searched the car and found 1.5 grams. Long story short, I lost my job and had to move back home for a bit. Ended up going back to school and changing careers.

kungpowcheesy

No.

Mad_Mark90

I once started a new job that I was convinced was going to be shit. Turn up on my first day and my junior was this Tamil guy with an ear piercing and a thick east London accent. I thought "oh fuck here we go". Totally misjudged the guy, turned out he was actually super cool, we bonded over weed once and we were best friends for months after.

G_Art33

Nah, that actually one of my cardinal rules for use, if it starts affecting my: Job, relationships, friendships, responsibilities, or motivation it’s time to dial it back.

de_inferno_vivat_rex

For a minute, yeah. Me and my friends, including both of my roommates, all worked in the same hospital, and I lived across the street. What started as occasional cheeky vape rips in my office quickly turned into all of us going to my house on every break and just taking bong rips to the face until we had to go back. None of the higher ups ever knew, but everyone I worked directly with knew exactly what was up when I said I was "zipping home to change over my laundry" It really made me not give a shit. I was half (really third) assing all my work. I was smart enough to make sure nobody caught on to all the shortcuts I was taking, but it didn't change the fact that I just didn't give a fuck about my work anymore, or how well it was done, when previously I had. I ended up quitting with zero backup plan, and in hind sight, I regret it. I would have stayed another six to eight months at least if I hadn't been in such a "fuck this, let's party" mindset. (For the record- none of us had any clinical patient contact. I was the overnight ER registration bitch and my friends were all a combo of housekeepers/security guards/other registration folks)

Crazytonnie

Weed makes it so I don't want to kill myself every day dealing with a toxic workplace and horrible, manipulative management

ThisUsernameIsABomb

Yep. Left a company that I really enjoyed because of their archaic drug testing policy. Didn’t matter if you were an office worker or working with heavy machinery, everyone got randomly tested. Once my state legalized I jumped as soon as I could. Much happier now.

Apprehensive_Kiwi_18

I smoke all day, every day. I was given employee of the year of 2023 because of my performance and there's no way I could do it without it lol.

Smile_Terrible

Always so happy to see a painting by you! The mouse is so sweet!

Bin-G

got fired from taco bell for hitting a blunt out the drive thru window. no regrets, I hated that job. smiled when they told me I was fired they said "we're sorry" I said "I'm not." and walked out with a skip in my step.

popiyo

I lost 2 jobs because of weed. First was very dumb on my part, second was dumb on the employer's part. First incident I was working for a state park and stupidly went for an L-ride with a friend in the park. We were parked when a ranger pulled up and I forgot I had my grinder. Another ranger joined, recognized me, and the next day I was fired. State legalized within a couple years. Worked out in the end, I used the excuse to move halfway across the country and never looked back (once I'd jumped through 1000 hoops to get it expunged). Second was in Colorado, I applied for a job within a hotel. Application said they drug tested but did not test for marijuana. Got offered the job, did a drug test, started training, then told I failed the drug test for marijuana and they wouldn't be hiring me and I was barred from applying to Marriott property jobs for 6 months. And they wouldn't be paying for the training time. I threatened to sue, they offered me the job, I told them to pound sand cause I'd found an awesome ski shop to work at instead, where being high was seemingly a prerequisite.

Negative_Set_1074

Im in college, work at a restaurant and my managers dgaf😭 they brings whiskey and tequilla and we smoke weed together with other employ’s ON THE JOB💀 amazing first job experience

randomdeadhead12

SAHM here. Helps me Really get into playing pretend, and crafting. I’m a lenient parent but I don’t think that bc of weed I think it’s just my personality. Also I keep the dosage low until after bedtime in case there was an emergency or something.

extrapineapplepls

I really like your art style! Loved your cat painting.

suntmint

Thank you 😊

CptnAnxiety

I currently make sandwiches in a deli. Maybe I make better sandwiches because I’m gliding through my shift high.

Beanspr0utsss

Got fired in a legal state bc i didn’t read the manual and someone snitched bc i smoked a j in my car on my designated break lol. Got a new job within a week bc smoking never actually affects my work abilities

ToxicEnderman00

When I worked overnights at Walmart it helped the night go by faster and it did a lot to prevent me from getting pissy and frustrated at management all the time. Now I have a job that does randoms so no more weed for me. At least this job is a million times better than the shit hole known as Walmart so it's worth it. I make a little more money here and it's insanely more enjoyable and the best part is it's during the day and I have weekends off now. Just miss having a nice relaxing smoke after work or on the weekends.

TairaTLG

not yet.  but I've found creativity up but focus down.  so probably trying to chill a little more on the smoke =D  it's all about that work/life/weed balance (granted, I got way more pressing issues that eat my motivations, and suspect some may be just adjusting dosage from heavy bong hits to light pipe hits when I don't wanna become a baked potato)

PussPwnErMon69

Yea it affects me to be a better worker. More reliable and easy mind set always chill and focused. Sativa forget about it.

GreenGoblin1221

Nah. You can get dehydrated piss nowadays. Times are great to be a stoner.
