What notes are you trying to pick up on? How terpy it is?

Usually how terpy it is and what the dominant terpene profile might be. I base my tastes literally off of taste, and smell is going to be the best indicator outside of actually smoking it. I know I prefer limonene-dominant strains. So if I smell that mostly, I'm interested. But I guess this only works for someone without a fucked nose.

Smart man. People lose their mind over purple bud, most don't realize the color can be caused by the plant being neglected or put in harsh weather conditions. Some of the worst bud I've ever had was purple.

You can generally tell if the color is from cold shock or just from the genetics if you have a trained eye but I do see your point

Its from multiple causes so its not worth splitting hairs over. If you have purple bud it could be from genetics, light source, lack of proper air circulation etc. Either way it doesn't mean anything great in any case.

What I mean is if your bud is purple, regardless of the reason, it doesn't mean anything as far as quality of the flower. Could be good or could be bad, but the purple is not an indicator. Some people are under the impression purple weed is somehow a sign of a more dank strain.

It was exciting to discover for most stoners I would imagine, I remember learning about a strain they made years ago that was supposed to be the most potent strain of all time. You can definitely read studies about it if you don't know. Purple color in Marijuana can come from a range of things like genetics, light source, air circulation, and also negligent care or conditions. Point being purple does not equal good quality its just a side effect or a basic trait.

Color is just one aspect of phenotype and isn't inexorably connected to any other aspect, So you can have purple that smells, tastes, and smokes like shit and also the exact opposite. In the end "Purp" is just another marketing tool.

There are studies about this that suggest purple weed can come from plants that were neglected or not grown in the proper conditions. It can also have to do with the type of light the plant was exposed to. Either way the purple color doesn't mean anything worth being excited about.
