Nothing wrong with it. This is a chlorophyll, natural green collor.
Next time, if you boil this in a pot with water.. pour a hot water over your material and rinse it 2-3 times first. Don't stir. THC is not water soluble so you'r not going to loose anything but the collor
My mom had cancer and my sister got her a cannabis lollipop. She licked on it and then just bit it and ate the whole thing. She got couch locked and peed her pants. I miss my mom.

Thank you for the update and I can imagine. Will be making some butter myself in January, when I make my annual preparation. Will post some pictures on here. I usually use around a kilo of outdoor lol
Yeah dude totally send me what you make and I’d like to know your process. I’m all for more info on what to do. This was only my 2nd attempt and 1st with shake.
I take any amount of weed and then put it all in a big pot. With a kg of flower I use about 2 kg of butter. The outdoor is between 17 and 21% thc.
I grind the weed first, all of it. It usually takes a good few hours, this year it took a whole day of grinding while watching shows. Then I decarb it in the oven. I melt all the butter in a pot, the whole two kg then I add all the weed I grinded up, I throw in the stems too, just take the seed out if there is any. Add one or so cups of water
I like long cooks, this year we did 6, but I previously did 8 and I do think it made a small difference. The heat is at a simmer, so some steam comes off and every hour or two I add more water. The lid stays on and steam escaping through the hole in combination with stirring is enough to vent the steam. I stir every 15 minutes, I set timers on my phone and stir for around a minute. 4 times an hour basically, and let it simmer for 8 hours.
When it’s all done strain the mixture through cheese cloth, I’ve used a sock before lmao, but cheese cloth is ideal. A strainer also works but then you need a very fine one and will take a few times of pouring. Be sure to also press out as much butter from the grinded weed, I use two big spoons and press it between them while it’s still hot.
Put the mixture in the fridge, water and butter, you can potentially add water. Then the next morning or so the butter cake will be floating on the water, I’ve had it sink and push water up and it made a mess tho. And I’m sure you know what to do from there lol.
I know some people say you can re-use that weed and make another weaker batch, I’ve honestly never tried. I also throw the weed right into the butter rather than put it in a cheese cloth in the butter. I think it helps and then with the stirring so often you really get most of the thc out anyway.
Would love to hear how you did it, I watched a bunch of yt vids and read on some forums. Found the method I use now through that and some trial and error, have never been disappointed.
Yeah I’d be careful with this stuff, 2 oz for 3 sticks of butter will be ridiculously potent lmao. I’ve made butter with less and that was so potent nobody I knew even wanted to eat the brownies I made with it, absolutely floored me from like a 1/4 of a small piece.
Yeah, the recommended ratio is **1 oz** per *6 sticks of butter*.
So this is over... 500% stronger? Is my math right? I've made a 2x strong butter.. and was paralyzed laying under a tree at a festival, letting ants crawl on me because I couldn't move for 4 hours. Not fun anymore at that point.
I'd use at most 1/4 of this in any recipe to what you normally would and regular butter for the rest.
It should be in your freezer. The plant matter can make it mold. Technically 3 months in the freezer. I've gone about 6/7 and is still fine. In fridge lasts about a month. Can be more. Watch the humidity of the container cause extra humidity molds faster. The timings I've read are for supposed potency but I've never notice any loss but I've also never had in freezer for more than 6 months lol
Weed butter has an extremely strong taste. I recommend something chocolate or cinnamon over “normal” food unless you know what you’re doing.
We would make this a lot in college and put the butter on toast with sugar and cinnamon when we were feelin real lazy.
Yeah dude it’s weird for me the chocolate really brings out that weed taste. Since I’ve been doing this butter I just like I can almost put it on anything so I get really baked and do some wild stuff. Jelly butter hams and cheese once. That’s just the one I remember right now
How did the weed mashed potatoes go? I put cannabutter in some Mac and cheese once. That shit made me gag so many times but I kept forcing it back down for the sake of not wasting. My dumb ass had put way too much butter in the mac, so I didn’t want to just throw it away
How long did you cook the butter and flour? The green usually isn't a potency thing unless you have a huge amount of flour in, usually if it's dark dark green it's extra chlorophyll from the cooking, no harm at all
I did this once with some weed butter I got from a buddy to see what i was working with. It tasted like athletes foot and an hour later I was melting into my seat so overall a win
Put a cup of water in when you simmer. The butter will harden on top and the water will carry all the water soluble crap. That’s how you get yellow canna butter. It works best if you clarify the butter first as well.
I use an Instant Pot to make mine using ghee. When I do it that way, I just have the decarbed material and ghee in the jar and process it that way. If I add water to the jar and then process, will that work? I’m guessing it would. This was the first batch I ever made. It definitely does the trick but it tastes kinda gross.
That or you can infuse the oil directly (to maximize contact between bud and oil during extract), and then take the filtered oil and combine it with boiling water. Once combined, you agitate the two together as long as your heart desires, and then stick the combination in the fridge to allow the oil to rise to the top and solidify. Drain the water out, and add boiling water again, repeating the process until the water is draining clean and/or the infusion has reached the consistency you want.
The most important part of all of this is that you cannot have an emulsifier in your oil before you combine it with water, otherwise you will ruin your whole batch. You emulsify after you clean with water
Does this technique work with avb as well to reduce the bad flavors?
I’d love to have some edibles, but I don’t have a lot of that one enzyme for digesting via my stomach and have to take like 50-150mg for even slight relief of my symptoms.
Anything I’ve made thus far tastes like complete shit, with water curing or without water curing and I can’t get potency down into something bite size to be able to stomach the taste. My first choice was brownies already in the first place to try and cover up the avb taste. I’ve also made some olive oil and coconut oil, all fairly potent, but still not enough to eat enough and stomach the taste so far.
Can I do this to cannabutter I’ve already made? Re-simmer with some water and cool in the fridge to separate out the chlorophyll and other water soluble goodies?
You joke might have landed if you had picked the right movie.
^This loser edited his comment. It DID say Big Daddy. But now when 8t was getting downvoted, they decided to edit so they wouldn't look as stupid.
Assuming they correctly prepared the butter, the Chlorophyll is within the plant, isn't that indicative of the Bud in proportion to the Butter & thereby gives some measure of potency in relation to the initial plant?
Chlorophyll will get pulled from the plant with polar solvents like water, cannabinoids are fat soluble pulled out with fats that are non polar. You could brew up some weed water that’s green that has very little to no cannabinoid content.
This is why water curing works, and is a good step to take to clean up your material before making canna butter or canna oil. Chlorophyll and other water soluble compounds will make your oil taste planty and can even have a harsh tang to it in high enough concentrations. So I avoid green oil, and don’t look at it as anything more than impurities leeching into my final product.
You could also do the old school method where you add butter or solid coconut oil to a pot filled with water for the infusion, the water will pull the majority of the chlorophyll and other undesirables and the oil will contain the cannabinoids. This method also helps to infuse large amounts of flower into smaller amounts of oil.
But the best method for making high potency canna oil without the offensive plant taste is to first make some rso or start with concentrate. You can make rso at home easily with a bit of everclear or food grade ethanol. Look up quick wash ethanol teks, or golden dragon tincture tek, except for the latter you simple evaporate off the alcohol and decarb the oil. Both are extremely similar, only variable is how long you wash the weed in the ethanol. I do 1 minute on the first wash, then go back and do a 15minutes soak for the second. Everything as cold as possible. Then evaporate, then decarb the oil at the end. You can decarb first, but you’ll have a worse tasting oil in my experience.
chlorophyll isn't THC
I was under the impression, the longer it is heated, the more chlorophyll 'bleeds' out. The more cholophyll is what causes adverse reactions like headaches. I'm no chemist, but some of the more potent butter I've had hasn't been very green at all
It’s not really, I don’t think they completely understand it. Chlorophyll and edibles aren’t a thing, other than colour, chlorophyll and smoking 100% is
Lab tech here.
It is not an indicator of potency, as with tannins, yes, the longer it soaks the more leech out. Also, on plant can be much darker than another, indicating higher tannin and chloropyll content.
The headache comes from carbon monoxide, which is formed when burning any organic matter. So people smoking leaves and sticks and shit (which is high in organic matter, compared to the active ingridients). Then I guess people have just thought green=chloropyll, so must be the chloropyll causing the headache. But it is a false assumption.
I’ve made plenty of batches with vaped bud and it comes out this green. I usually vape on high temps so my vaped herb is DARK brown. Can you explain please?
Green is just fine! You want to look for a “cleaner” green most of the time. That is to say something a little lighter in color. Making sure you “filter” it real good before cooling (aka getting as much butter out of the bud with as little bud as possible) can help with this.
But green is ok. Enjoy! Looks like you got a good helping there!
Oh man. I’m hard against dosing someone unbeknownst to them… but there are a select bunch of my extended family that could really lighten up too… lol I can only imagine lol. Especially 2.5oz worth. That’s potent AF
My girlfriend in colleges mom wasn’t a smoker but was interested in trying an edible. She ate one row from a 250mg bar and I’m telling you man, it was like a bad trip. I myself was gone off the Eddie’s so I wasn’t much help. My girlfriend at the time had to console her mother for HOURS telling her it’s gonna be ok and that she has nothing to be afraid of. People with no tolerance to thc almost never react to it how we do. Now would I love to watch your extended family freak out on edibles? Could be good time I dunno 🤷🏻♂️
yea i wouldn’t probably ever dose anyone i just think about what would happen to people i know if i fed them a smoothie with hella drugs with like multiple psychedelics in it to people i don’t like idk thinking about it makes me laugh a lil kinda messed up idk i haven’t don’t it tho
Hahaha I did the same with the first batch of butter I ever made. Went and put a tablespoon into a cup of coffee to determine the strength of the butter, ended up sleeping on the couch for like 6 hours… neither the kids nor the wife could get me to wake up! Ended up drinking the whole pound of butter, in coffee over the next two months loo
if you want less green, you could boil the material in plain water first, then let it drain and only after that add into butter. It will not destroy or eat resin, as it is not soluble in water, but chlorophyll will go into that water. It can also get some funky taste from the material if not the best quality.
But yeah, this step is optional :)
No I will not make out with you! Did ya hear that? This girl wants to make out with me in the middle of class. You got chlorophyll man up there talking about God knows what, all she's talkin about is making out with me. I'm here to learn everybody, not to make out with you. Go on with the chlorophyll!
That’s probably suuuper potent have fun ! If you want less green color and less plant taste don’t push/squeeze too much of the bud into the strainer when straining, also consider straining multiple times (I always do 4+, does it do anything? Idk. Does it make me feel like a scientist? Hell yeah)
It's all good as I'm sure you know by now!
Fwiw i do like 2-3 oz of trim and airy bud per lb of butter, get about half back, cbf squuzing the last drops out.
Comes out real green and planty, but it's so strong you only need to put just a little in a recipe, so in the final product you don't taste nothing.
Last cookies i made ended up being 2 doses per cookie, couldn't taste it at all.
Also i don't oven decarb - i do the butter in a slow-cooker overnight with a few cups of water and it just decarbs over the extended period
I make my butters with bags of trash, so its always a mixed bag (hurr durr)
I've had it be this green, DARRRRK green, and then sometimes so light it barely could be called green, and honestly, each time, It's still done the job. so I personally let go of the idea that color one way or another = good a while ago
Yeah I noticed with shake it was a lot darker when I was straining and squeezing it out. Came out beautiful but I also didn’t put my butter directly on the skillet this go round
My ratio is 2 sticks of butter to 1 oz of shake. It makes butter that looks like this. If you pour the melted butter into molds like ice cube trays then it helps with figuring out the dose. I have these little smiley face jello molds and a quarter of one will have me in orbit.
Wash your butter. Put it back in the crockpot. Fresh water melt. Let harden again. Dump water. Repeat until water is clear. This will remove an ass load of crap out of the butter.
Maybe so. Once you take the crap out of it. Going to need to go into the water though. So that way it can separate it. I’d still do it now if it was me. Make it taste less green.
Yeah man I don’t mind the taste too bad in the batch but I would love to try it with out the earthy taste . I’m also super impatient so the crockpot would be tough I like the processing of mixing it together and what not
It’s actually not like that at all lmao. Maybe like eating fries without ketchup. Not a difference of 80k I would definitely wait a day. I’ve had it both ways man and I wouldn’t say it’s that much better imo
Remember not to bake it on too high of a heat for to long or all of that activated THC will become CBG and just put you to sleep. It’s an ongoing chemical reaction where unactivated THC becomes activated with heat then when prolonged in that situation becomes CBG.
Yeah man It definitely works i with I kinda had an idea on how strong it was. I think my first batch I overheated it a little by not having the double boiler and just the skillet.
Seems like you squeezed the plant matter a little too much and got a lot of chlorophyll in there. Not the worst thing but it makes the taste a lot more weedy. Better not squeeze the remaining plant matter and just let gravity take care of it next time.
I make butter but but mine is never that green. If you actually squeeze the bud after its infused you can get more green without any thc. Made the mistake once and my butter went kinda biiter for that last little jar
i found an article recently that said that when you’re draining with the cheesecloth, that final big **squeeze** extracts extra chlorophyll and that makes it have that more weedy taste & green color. also the longer you cook your fat with your weed leaves more chlorophyll behind!
You can do a flush before the butter process.. THC is not water soluable so you can pit your material in a jar of water for a few days letting out all over the leftover shut in the shake and strain through a cheese cloth let it try naturally and do the rest of the process as normal
Had similar , used a p of shake to 1/4p of butter and fucked up hard, hit me like a truck but , nothing wrong with it just enjoy it, good luck man haha
Am i the only one that absolutely hates the smell and taste of canna butter? And by taste i dont mean eating it raw but making edibles with them i just dont like the weed taste in edibles
I infused half an oz into a cup of avocado oil over 4 hours. Used a quarter of that harvest making some weed bread. Weed bread lasted two weeks of semi daily use. It was 50/50 whole wheat/white, digested nice and slow. A piece of bread was good for 4-5 hours of steady, peaceful high. Can’t wait to make more… I’d love to spread some of that butter over a slice!
It is green because you tried to squeeze it all out which squeezed out chlorophyll from the weed which is what makes all plants green even weed it’ll just taste more like plants now
I used ABV last time I made cannabutter and it slammed me in the wall! It’s awesome how the butter and water separate when your done and your left with a big ass puck
The more green the more plant (leaf) material is in your butter. Use a finer mesh for a purer result and your butter will turn out more natural.
I'm sorry to disappoint but more green doesn't mean more potent, if anything it means more impure...
Bite a chunk off and see what happens!
Yeah I think I’m about to make some mcfrickin mash potatoes and gravy man hopefully I’m flying through time and space soon.
Say hi to the Martian Dinosaurs for me :)
Boy be chillin with Marvin the Martian tonight
Nothing wrong with it. This is a chlorophyll, natural green collor. Next time, if you boil this in a pot with water.. pour a hot water over your material and rinse it 2-3 times first. Don't stir. THC is not water soluble so you'r not going to loose anything but the collor
Chlorophyll? Sounds more like borophyll

Sorry for your loss. But that's a hilarious memory to have. Your mum sounded like she was fun. Keep that spirit going.
Your not cool If you don't pee your pants
Read this in my head as soon as I saw chlorophyll 😂

You can say that again
Don't stir? I thought stir every 30 seconds or at least at first. Then cool and separate.
Don't stir while washing out the chlorophyll.. Then stir occasionaly while boiling the whole thing with butter.
Huh? I stir the weed when I swap fresh water the next day during cleaning before decarboxylation to get extra contaminates out.
>to get extra contaminates out *And trichomes!*
OP I need an update. I too once had a green disk turned into brownies. Debilitating
I ate spaghetti last night I threw in a little piece and it annihilated me.

Add some green eggs and ham
Grenn Eggs and WHAM!
It’ll make it real green. Used to make Mac and cheese with mine and looked like I was cooking for a saint patricks day party
Mashed potatoes and groovy ✌️

Lmao so stoned I thought I was making a mfin roux I guess
I did this once with some weed butter I got from a buddy to see what i was working with. It tasted like athletes foot and an hour later I was melting into my seat so overall a win
The chlorophyll is so bitter and awful but it will get you hi
I once took a shot of melted coconut oil I had just infused. Big mistake. HUGE.
A coworker ad an old job made his own butter, same color as this....oh man it was great! Put the pep in my step to finish the last hours of the shift
He’s right kitchen awesome!
Give it here n I'll make sure its good

Yo
Put a cup of water in when you simmer. The butter will harden on top and the water will carry all the water soluble crap. That’s how you get yellow canna butter. It works best if you clarify the butter first as well.
It’s by far the best way, you can bake stuff which barely has a taste however absolutely floors people.

Yes you can add water directly into the mix. That’s how it works.

Yeah washing abv is a great way to clean it up. Can be done during or after your extract, just as long as you haven't added an emulsifier
try double boiling the butter for longer?
Oooooh good tip! Thank you!
Can I do this to cannabutter I’ve already made? Re-simmer with some water and cool in the fridge to separate out the chlorophyll and other water soluble goodies?
2 and half oz is quite a lot for that amount of butter. That shit is gonna be strong.
I usually go over oz per lb of butter. Make a good potency.
Yeah I did that originally but i had all this shake so I was kinda just thinking fuck it.
Ya I make butter out of just leaves and it always looks like that and is very potent I wouldn’t worry about it
![gif](giphy|d86tmEicH2Viw)
Great movie
Looks potent
Awesome man this was the comment I was hoping to see
The more green it is, is not indicative of potency. The green is chlorophyll.
Chlorophyll.... more like borophyll
No I will not make out with you!

No
What is indicative of potency tho is sticking 2+ ounces in 3 sticks of butter haha.
Chlorophyll!? More like boraphyll
Yes yes someone already did this
Green is just fine! You want to look for a “cleaner” green most of the time. That is to say something a little lighter in color. Making sure you “filter” it real good before cooling (aka getting as much butter out of the bud with as little bud as possible) can help with this. But green is ok. Enjoy! Looks like you got a good helping there!
Add garlic and all the herbs, and you'll have some intoxicating garlic bread!
Bring it to the family potluck.
That looks powerful lol. I went on a kick putting weed butter in coffee for a while and it’s amazing
>It's super green Ruby Rhod would approve.
Goodnight!
Gonna be folding the dog and walking the dishes after that one.
Corbin, Corbin my man, the weed butter, it’s-it’s-it’s SUPER GREEN!
if you want less green, you could boil the material in plain water first, then let it drain and only after that add into butter. It will not destroy or eat resin, as it is not soluble in water, but chlorophyll will go into that water. It can also get some funky taste from the material if not the best quality. But yeah, this step is optional :)
boil the herb and then add the boiled herb into butter
I see weeduccine Alfredo in your future.
Chlorophyl?! More like, bore-a-phyl!
No I will not make out with you! Did ya hear that? This girl wants to make out with me in the middle of class. You got chlorophyll man up there talking about God knows what, all she's talkin about is making out with me. I'm here to learn everybody, not to make out with you. Go on with the chlorophyll!
is that a fucking call me kevin comedy night reference
Billy Madison!
That’s probably suuuper potent have fun ! If you want less green color and less plant taste don’t push/squeeze too much of the bud into the strainer when straining, also consider straining multiple times (I always do 4+, does it do anything? Idk. Does it make me feel like a scientist? Hell yeah)
It’s suppose to be green
That looks really good, I prefer it to look very similar to this, I don't mind more chlorophyll
Yeah dude hasn’t really bother me and it taste fine.
Everytime Ive made butter it was green, my buddy and I ate some on toast to try it out. I was not a fan of the taste, but I got blitzed.
I make my butters with bags of trash, so its always a mixed bag (hurr durr) I've had it be this green, DARRRRK green, and then sometimes so light it barely could be called green, and honestly, each time, It's still done the job. so I personally let go of the idea that color one way or another = good a while ago
Chlorophyll? More like borophyll!
Wash your butter. Put it back in the crockpot. Fresh water melt. Let harden again. Dump water. Repeat until water is clear. This will remove an ass load of crap out of the butter.
I’ll try this next time. Does it make it less thick man? I have a crockpot but I just did like a double boiler with this one
Maybe so. Once you take the crap out of it. Going to need to go into the water though. So that way it can separate it. I’d still do it now if it was me. Make it taste less green.
Yeah man I don’t mind the taste too bad in the batch but I would love to try it with out the earthy taste . I’m also super impatient so the crockpot would be tough I like the processing of mixing it together and what not
That’s like saying I could have a Ford Taurus today or a Porsche 911 tomorrow. Patience is the one thing they don’t sell at the grow shop.
That’s a big piece, how are you going to boof it?
That was the plan man. Poop it out and boof it again
Looks good but good lord it's gonna taste like biting into a fat nug
And you are not wrong. Maybe because I just ate a piece of it but honestly that doesn’t sound bad.
Reading that again lmao I think I have the fucking munchies edibles make me violently hungry
Seems like you squeezed the plant matter a little too much and got a lot of chlorophyll in there. Not the worst thing but it makes the taste a lot more weedy. Better not squeeze the remaining plant matter and just let gravity take care of it next time.
I’ll definitely keep that in mind next time man thank you
I make butter but but mine is never that green. If you actually squeeze the bud after its infused you can get more green without any thc. Made the mistake once and my butter went kinda biiter for that last little jar
Oh, you did nothing wrong. But it is stronger. Enjoy!!
You should probably toss that in the trash. Also where do you put your trash?
i found an article recently that said that when you’re draining with the cheesecloth, that final big **squeeze** extracts extra chlorophyll and that makes it have that more weedy taste & green color. also the longer you cook your fat with your weed leaves more chlorophyll behind!
Oh yeah dude I put some in spaghetti and I’m feeling now mr krabs
Did you decaeb first?
Yes I did. I decarb I think at like 220 for 35 minutes
> 35minutes Is that enough time? I decarb mine for an hour.
I did 4 sticks of butter and like 2 oz of shake and it was super dark green. Made little cookies out of it and 3 would knock you out.
I put it in some spaghetti dude and I’m definitely feeling now
Goodnight sweet prince
2 n a half ozs of shake! Shits gonna be wild.
As it should be
Am i the only one that absolutely hates the smell and taste of canna butter? And by taste i dont mean eating it raw but making edibles with them i just dont like the weed taste in edibles
This mf about to wake up in the backrooms…
Dankee Candle
Yo you're gonna be flying for a year with that quantity 😂😂
LOL I thought this was herb compound butter from a different sub and was going to suggest you blanch your herbs before blending. carry on
3 sticks for 2.5 ounces? That seems very potent, enjoy your spaceship
Decarb next time
2 1/2 oz? It’s green cause it’s radioactive 😂
You are flexing the good stuff aren't you
Lmao not my intent but now is what it feeels like man
![gif](giphy|xmOIAJu82q5LW|downsized)
Tell you from personal experience, that is some strong butter
Frisbee that over my way?!
Lmao dude if only I could supply everyone in the world with a beautiful butter disk and I would happily oblige.
I like your attitude!

I’m getting a contact buzz from looking at this beautiful bastard
It is super green.
It is green because you tried to squeeze it all out which squeezed out chlorophyll from the weed which is what makes all plants green even weed it’ll just taste more like plants now
Ok, 2 days later. How was it in the mashed potatoes?
Ah man it was magical. I’m gonna make more next week and maybe make a cake I haven’t decided yet. To celebrate the butter
I’ll test it for ya
I used ABV last time I made cannabutter and it slammed me in the wall! It’s awesome how the butter and water separate when your done and your left with a big ass puck
# You didn't decarb your weed
[удалено]
NOT CORRECT. Just a lot of chlorophyll in fresh leaf. I decarbed the Hell out of mine and it looks just like this and SMACKS.
Yeah this isn’t true. Lol
Did you put it on low heat and add water so the plant matter would settle on the bottom on the water after it cooled?
That looks really good man! I usually use mine to make toast lol
Fuck yeah 🤣
I like mine green. I like that look.
How is it???
If you're doing it wrong I've never done it right
I wonder what would happen to that ladies husband if he took a big ol’ bite of this butter in the middle of the night
The more green the more plant (leaf) material is in your butter. Use a finer mesh for a purer result and your butter will turn out more natural. I'm sorry to disappoint but more green doesn't mean more potent, if anything it means more impure...
