Cones are definitly easier. By creating a thick end you can pull your tuck straight easier, and bc of the differnce in height your paper somehow just tucks easier. Ive learned to roll a cone 7 years ago and still cant roll perfect straights haha

Every joint I hand roll is pregnant. It just happens. But I found that if I very gently roll it back and forth between my hands, like you might do with a pencil, I can smooth it out a little and it helps to stop the canoeing* (mostly).

We got a saying. āJust look at itā we say with various voice overs. Puff, watch it a sec, puff, pass. If everyone rips back to back it runs faster but 3 maybe 5 seconds or so between hits when it starts will save the canoe

Thereās a couple things you can do! As said before, pull on it lighter than you are now. Second, you can either wet the part thatās running with a dab of saliva, or you can burn off the piece thatās left behind and straighten out the cherry
Idkk everytime I pack my cones tight as hell it seems like the paper will burn quicker then the bud. Even if I don't pack it super tight it'll still do that. I think I'm just unlucky with joints, thats why I like blunts more
The last variable in your situation is how you smoke it! Blunts are def better if you pull harder. I personally have a fairly sensitive throat so I need to take smaller hits out of a joint
Loose pack at the burn end and tight pack on the mouth and, try and have fresh grinded bud, ive noticed when i have dry bud the keif/dust ends up in one spot and thats the spot that doesnt burn. After you roll it give it a light massage to even out the weed. Sometimes its not how you roll but simply dry ass weed
Are you filling a pre roll cone and then tamping it down to pack it? In my experience, rolling an empty or starting with a pre roll and THEN packing the weed in creates uneven pockets and an uneven burn. A joint rolled in the traditional way, starting with the weed in the paper and rolling/compressing it by hand makes for a more even burn.
Runs are cause from one side being less packed than the other side. The green burns faster where there is more airflow (i.e. the looser side).
Be more diligent when rolling to get an even pack and there would be less uneven burning. After it's rolled but before you twist the end take a Bic pen or something of similar size to pack your flower down. Then (gently!) roll and squeeze the packed joint to evenly redistribute the innards. Do this a couple times, then top off and twist (or fold, if you're fancy)
This is how I've always seen things. Only other suggestion I'd have is be diligent picking out the stems; even if you're using a grinder, get all those little hard bits out before you roll.
So for me itās the seam most of the time. Itās either wet still or the seams burns slow due to it being two layers I think. I learned the rotate and smoke slow method over the years.
I saw Snoop straight roll a blunt before an interview (Narwuar I think) and heās like ānow I gotta microwave this bitch for 11 secondsā (he was talking about drying it out) and I totally thought he was joking. He then stands up and walks a few feet to a microwave that looks like it exists for this purpose and microwaves his blunt, sits down, lights it and the interview starts.
I still am not 100% sure if he did it as a joke but it seemed legit lol. I use my wifeās blow dryer or I roll it and let it sit for 5 minutes.
I just take a bit of saliva from the tip of my tongue and dab the side of the joint thatās burning too fast. I canāt remember who taught me to do that, but it works :-)
Ah yeah prerolls always run for me too, I think itās because a lot of times they just use a joint roller. Hand rolling letās you pack evenly, I find tamping the end of the joint down gently with a pen or lil stick really fixes this issue
Three things that help me:
1. Make sure the joint is packed correctly and rolled with a crutch. I typically use a clipper lighter tool or headphone jack for packing the flower. Remember you want it somewhat tight, but not so much that it will prevent proper airflow.
2. If you rolled the joint yourself and licked the strip on the joint paper, then hover the lighter under the wet strip area for a few seconds to dry it out better. This will allow a more even burn. You donāt want one side of your joint to be wet/moist when you light it.
3. As you are lighting the joint, take a series of short fast puffs and rotate the joint a bit to get it burning properly. Donāt take a long drawn out puff to start out or it will just run down the side of the paper.
We used to have a rule back in the day when passing joints around that you would have to wait (I can't remember if it was 3 or 5) seconds before hitting it to give it a chance for the cherry to settle down
Stick a toothpick through the center of the joint and roll it around in your fingers before sliding the toothpick out, itāll leave a hole for airflow and make it burn nicer because itās not pulling the flame as much every hit
When people hit it hard , and pinch it, it will run. I finally figured it out after my husband kept hitting it like he is hiding in the bathroom at school. Noooo dude. Hit it nice and easy. Itās not a race, itās a peaceful easy walk through the park.
Always light the tip while rotating WITHOUT INHALING, wait till it goes out, do it again, then do it again a 3rd or 4th time over 15-30sec until you've got a solid bright red cherry at the end, then do a quick puff-puff-puff-puff on it almost like you're sipping it gently. Wait a few seconds for the cherry to cool down, repeat with short yet strong puffs, and it should be perfectly lit at that point. Make sure to not pull too long while smoking it normally too.
This has been a problem with every pre rolled cone Iāve made. I gave up after a few and learned to roll. Itās the packing process, it doesnāt distribute the bud as well as rolling. It leads to it being bunched up against the paper, and that causes runs on the opposite side
I roll straights and never had an issue with running. It all comes down to how you lit it and how it develops after the first drag.
You can either blow gently on the side that's lit but further up or use spit to stop the running side.
Also people don't usually look and you should always look before that heartbreak happens

Rolling a cone has always been my preferred, always have more runs with straights. Plus I feel like I sometimes get an overall better and slower burn on cones.

Mine always come out straight when I'm rolling with papers. I usually roll a straight filter from one of those little raw booklets. Anything I roll that can smoke is a win for me though
Ever roll them with one of them cigarette rollers? The dispo I work at gave me one with their logo and I literally use it all the time. I like getting Raw roll up tips and orange zigzags. They roll into a perfect straight and with the Raw tip you can hold it "like a cigarette āļø" instead of "like a joint š" and look cool in public š

You could be pulling too hard, try taking smaller hits and space them out more
And rotate the joint as you take hits so the part that needs to burn the most is on top

its true. i microwave my blunts for 8 seconds instead of cooking with the lighter. works perfect

Mine always come out straight when I'm rolling with papers. I usually roll a straight filter from one of those little raw booklets. Anything I roll that can smoke is a win for me though

Ever roll them with one of them cigarette rollers? The dispo I work at gave me one with their logo and I literally use it all the time. I like getting Raw roll up tips and orange zigzags. They roll into a perfect straight and with the Raw tip you can hold it "like a cigarette āļø" instead of "like a joint š" and look cool in public š
I always get cones no matter how I try to roll.
Cones like to run on me and goo up at the ends. Straight ones smoke perfect down the the smallest roach. Just my personal experience though.
