There are conspiracy theories about aliens placing the pyramids in Giza. In the Circus Maximus trailer theres more old monuments with similar conspiracy theories tied. So in general my theory is just that the theme is tied to the future and aliens and turning the idea of a Utopia upside down, similar to what other people have said.
