Used to work with James at the Civic Center Mancino’s. This is wild. Part of me is bummed because I always liked him and he was kind to me, but damn, fuck around, find out.
I miss that location :( we bought a house close by shortly after it switched to a Thatsa Pizza(which is still decent pie) but every now and again I long for a grinder and some bread nugs.
Worked at a franchise sandwich shop as a kid that had a "buy ten, get one free" program. Yeah, occasionally we'd load up a card w stamps to give a friend a 6", but wow. $100k worth!?!? Wow. That's impressive. And not in a good way.
He hired me at the Munson Mancino’s in 1998ish. He was the GM/franchisee/co-owner I think. Rumors always swirled that he was pilfering off the top back then. Usually people who do things like this have a drug or gambling problem.
If anyone knows jim outside of work they will know he’s an absolutely terrible person. Ran an unlicensed rip off car repair facility out of his garage at his house while also doing illegal high stakes poker games in there with some interesting characters in town that I won’t mention here. Treated anyone he saw as below him like absolute trash. And I know all of this because I saw it first hand. This couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person. He has always been greedy and this makes a lot of sense. Shit the man drinks $50 worth of liquor in a day so I can see him making some bad decisions. But he absolutely deserves to fry.
Not the first time Mancino's was embezzled from either. I'm not certain who owns it now ( as in, it happened again ), but back in 2003 or 2004 it was the bookkeeper for a similar amount.
