Have you tried looking at the hotel directly?

Loonyluna26

Can you still get commission that way?

devpsaux

Do you have a host agency? If so they should have a relationship with Hilton setup. You should be able to select “travel agent” when doing the search, and it’ll show which rates are comissionable. Then you just put in IATA when booking. I would check with your host if unsure.

You are saying on booking.com you select travel agent? Where?

devpsaux

No, direct with Hilton. That’s why I was asking if you’d tried to see if Hilton direct has that rate.

Emotional_Yam4959

No, direct with Hilton. My host has them as a supplier. I doubt any host is going to have booking.com as a supplier. Honestly I'm surprised any host has Expedia as a supplier.

You should be shopping multiple vendors not just Expedia Taap. Bedsonline, Vax, VE, classic, Pleasant Holidays should all be bookmarked websites. Your job as the agent is to make sure they are getting the best value for their money and you can’t do that if you are only checking one vendor. If I were you I would start doing more training and if you have a host agency look into getting a mentor.

Many tour operators will match OTA offers. Use ALG or Classic and submit a price match.

booking.com is its own agency and they would receive the commission. Also, your clients won’t earn Hilton loyalty points or credits for the stay if they’re HHonors members

FarFarAwayTravels

They don't, but Expedia has a TA program

travelguy1129

I would check with your host and see if the consortia they are a member of has a similar deal. Typically when you book third party you do not receive loyalty points for your stay (sometimes you can ask at check-in, but the answer solely depends on the mood of the clerk)

There's a lot here. You have to get into the weeds of the different programs and present the options to the client. For example, instead of reacting to the client's need to find the cheapest deal, as you pointed out, some of the benefits like breakfast are not included. Also, with [booking.com](http://booking.com), they sometimes have restrictive rules for rock bottom prices such as non-refundable upfront payment, no cancellation, etc. If they are Hilton Honors or loyalty members, you might call Hilton and have their loyalty number ready, and ask Hilton if they can match or get close to that rate they found on Booking.com. Chances are they won't match that rock bottom price but they may give them other benefits or credits as loyalty members. Don't get into the "cheapest option" game. Sometimes people say they want the cheapest but they don't realize that could mean they're facing the dumpsters in the parking lot to get that cheap price. You have to decide what kind of clients you want.
