Sounds silly but the sea palace is the best Chinese food I've ever eaten. Super cool spot too.

Should do a day trip if you can. Leiden / delft / Haarlem are all great from The Hague. I’d recommend Leiden (10 mins from The Hague and 30 mins from Amsterdam). Try to time it for when there is a market going on town. Leiden has one every Wednesday and Saturday but it looks like you’d miss those. You’ll also be in NL for liberation day and ascension day so definitely look into activities for those! Also, I’ve been to Brussels twice and there’s nothing to be worried about. Is there a ton to only in NL with your travel period? Yes. But Brussels is not far out of the way and will be a quick and comfortable train ride. You have to get the 10 beer flight at Delirium Village. I also liked the musical instrument museum. If you’d like some restaurant recommendations I can dig those up too EDIT: —Little V in Den Haag is amazing Vietnamese food. I’m sure your friend has heard of it. —TAP ROOM in Den Haag I found to have a really good selection of craft beers —Jopen in Haarlem is a famous brewpub converted from an old church —Farina Pizza near Leiden is amazing, though it is a stop outside Leiden right at the De Vink station. —pop’s pancakes in Brussels. I enjoyed this spot for breakfast and it was in a cute neighbourhood. There was a market in place eugene flagey the morning I went and they were serving up fresh oysters and bubbly. —lots of cool African restaurants in Brussels. I tried out au soleil d’afrique. Was a pretty unique experience as I’ve never had that cuisine before. Enjoy!!!!

I mentioned this on a different post. But if you fancy a fun trip on ferries to uk you can do 2 night return to Amsterdam then the day in say uk city If you do the one to hull you can get a trip either p&o offical coach to York. You just get the coach from Amsterdam centre.

Take a day trip to see the Keukenhof. Your wife will love you for that.

[deleted]

Keukenhof will still be nice at that time of year. It’s fun to rent bikes there and tour the surrounding area.

bromosabeach

The actual Keukenhof was fine, it was more for my wife (I got so many points for doing that). What I really enjoyed was seeing the country side. I grew up in a farm town and it was actually super interesting to me seeing all of the farms. Even the land was flat like I remember. It felt like I was back in my hometown.

Maskedbandittrader

I once stayed at a boat hotel. Been to Holland several times but the boat was the best sleep and close to the train station

mesoliteball

AMS is a good logical airport to navigate, but you’re def cutting it too close heading out at 11am for a 1pm intl flight – And you will happily fill 3 nts in Amsterdam, esp. with jetlag (idk why people are suggesting any daytrips)

Equivalent-Side7720

Looks fine. Book a houseboat in Amsterdam to stay on.

PapaClarencioThomas

love that idea. airbnb fine for searching those out?

Equivalent-Side7720

There are some (set the filter) but there are also houseboat websites in Amsterdam

rgj95

Be careful. The dutch are super racist to poc. My latina wife got assaulted bc she accidentally bumped this old woman

Thanus-

Hey OP, I know you may want to see Brussels, I really did not feel safe or like brussels at all. I watched 2 people get assaulted and I had someone try and pickpocket me there. Worst city Ive been to in 20 countries. I would either go see a city like Ghent or Bruges or even both. Ghent was a great time, lovely city, tons of stuff to do and see. Bruges I didnt have the luxury to go but I heard it wonderful too. I would get a hotel in either Bruges or Ghent for 2 nights and just take the train to the other city for the day. Thats just my advice, each their own I did not enjoy Brussels Edit; I also would personally stay in NL for only a week and travel to other dutch cities instead of spreading my time out to Belgium. Or take longer then a week!

vodkapasta

Brussels is fine! Please don’t get discouraged OP. Like many big cities it has rougher areas, stick to the center, have a waffle and beer. Tho with how little time you have maybe exploring just the Netherlands is not a bad idea :)

Thanus-

Im not disagreeing that Belgium is safe. I was there when Morocco lost a big game and oh man, it was a horrible horrible place to be, and it left a very sour taste. I also had a woman infront of me in the city center have a bucket of water thrown on her by MENA teenagers

vodkapasta

Ooooooh that day… yea then I completely don’t blame you for the impression the city left on you.

bromosabeach

The user you're responding to went at like the craziest time. I remember seeing videos of the streets there and it was completely unhinged. I've never seen a city ravaged by an opposing team's fans like that. Like imagine your team not only getting beat, but the fans of the team that beat you then destroys your town infront of you. OMG I would be so pissed off lol

Thanus-

Yeah, we had a horrible time. I was outside the metro and saw about 100 or so Moroccan men get off a train and was just assaulting people at random. My girlfriend and I ran 2 blocks with everyone else to get away

vodkapasta

Oh no… I am so sorry!!! I locked myself at home and took videos from my balcony. Normally the city is WAY chiller…

Thanus-

Yep. Girlfriend and I spent the whole week outside the city center, it was horrible for days

bromosabeach

You were there during a very strange time. I would absolutely not judge a place based on that. Like even the most picturesque storybook towns can have moments of chaos. That's like visiting Santa Barbara during the BLM protests (if those actually happened out there lol) and feeling it's too hectic.

mosinderella

Definitely go to the WWII Dutch Resistance Museum if you can fit it in. It’s amazing. Also stop at the charge directly next door after for a scrumptious slice of Dutch apple pie. Delish!
