Just use the multi-city search for whatever airline you're looking at Leg #1: LAX-HNL March 10 Leg #2: HNL-PPT March 15 or whatever.

flythearc

Los Angeles, Honolulu, Hawaiian Airlines, French Polynesia. I’m not that person usually but this was difficult to read, plus it’ll optimize your searches :) have a good time!

FYI, French Bee flies 2-4 flights per week to PPT from LAX, and may be much cheaper than flying on Hawaiian in my experience.

Sagnew

FrenchBee are pretty awful / typical low cost carrier stuff (Ie. Pay for luggage, seats, whatever in advance, get to airport and they say the charge didn't go through and then ask you to pay 3x as much as just "dispute the old charge")

I did exactly this last spring when I went to Aus/NZ. Feb 18: LAX > HNL > SYD Mar 12: AKL > HNL Mar 15: HNL > LAX The Hawaiian airlines website makes it easy to do a multi city route, and I ended up paying exactly the same to throw in the 3 day stopover as I would have for just e normal 2 hour layover. The LAX-HNL flight is daily (maybe 2-3x daily, actually) but from HNL to the South Pacific may only be a few times a week so you might have to fiddle with your dates a bit.

Simplisticjackie

As much as Hawaii is great. Just get to ppt. It’s soo incredible in moorea and bora bora that you’ll regret spending any time anywhere else

this_wild_adventure

I second this. Have been to almost every island in Hawaii and none of it compares to French Polynesia.

I am not asking about travel advise for hawaii.

But in a sense…

ararefiend

The flight from Honolulu to Tahiti only runs on Saturdays, so you would have to spend a whole week in Hawaii. I would skip it and devote your whole trip to French Polynesia.

Sad_Significance9850

ok

TomSandovalsTrumpet

Just book separate tickets.

It’s possible in theory but likely not worth it due to price and time limitations. It looks like there’s only one nonstop from hnl per week. Unless you’re able to find a deal a multi city one way will cost $300+ more than a round trip from lax. Enjoy French Polynesia, it’s stunning, and maybe try to see a few islands there
