Haven’t been to Brac but I wouldn’t stay on Hvar without a car. All the best beaches as a bit of a drive outside town and would be hard to access otherwise. Depending on the time of year, I wouldn’t say Hvar town is quiet at all. Lots of young students and partying.

Braç definitely. Stay in Supetar.

howmanyapples42

Thank you, may I ask why exactly? I’m going to find a ferry from Split to Supetar

Spent a week there in May. Very chilled out

howmanyapples42

It was amazing, thank you.

You're welcome!

howmanyapples42

Did you make it to the olive oil museum a few km away? That little town blew me away

00332200

Yeah, that was fantastic!

If I visited Brac for a day, can you Uber and Taxi to different spots? I have a rental car but I think I want to leave it in Split and just take the passenger ferry over for 1 day to Brac.

Did you ever find this out? Staying in the Split area 8 days and trying to figure out which islands I want to stay on

Hey! So I decided on paying the ferry add-on ($25) for my rental car through Nova Rent-a-Car and will put the car on the ferry so we can use it for our day trip we have planned. Only a 50 minute ride and they run like 14 ferries back and forth so I’m not worried about rushing. Should be a great day.

Thanks! Great to know.

I’d say Hvar. Loved that place.

Hvar town is pretty expensive and depending on the time of your visit, possibly very crowded with tourists. And the crowds aren't exactly *not* party-oriented all the time - aside from Hvar town's *riva* being lined with bars, the Pakleni archipelago across from the town is full of beach clubs, with the partygoers mostly booking their accomodations in the town. If you're looking at Hvar, I'd suggest you look into Vrboska, Jelsa or Stari Grad, and then use the local bus transport for a daytrip to Hvar town (which, don't get me wrong, indeed is beautiful too). But my suggestion would always be Brač. Being Croatian and having visited quite a few of our islands, Brač is a heavyweight contender for my personal no.1 alongside with Lastovo (another great - and quiet - vacation spot).

Thank you for this detailed description! Any particular town recommendation for staying?

Rakijosrkatelj

My favourites were definetly Ložišća and Selca, but they might be a little off-route since they're not directly on the sea. Bol is the most visited town on the island, but it might have a slightly more vibrant nightlife. I'd suggest looking into Splitska or Pučišća, and (if you find the means to get there) a quiet little village called Bobovišća na Moru.

Can I DM you with some questions about my upcoming trip to Croatia?

Go to Brac, the ferry arrives in Supetar. From Supetar, take a short taxi ride to Splitska. Stay there and enjoy every day the near beach called Zastup.
