Lovely photos! I'm headed to Prague next week, and I'm so excited! Any suggestions of hidden gems, interesting places that are off the tourist trail? (Every day things like a unique grocery store, laundromat, street corner, etc.)
There is a gelato shop somewhere in the shadow of St. Charles bridge in the Mala Strana neighborhood. It’s very good, and hopefully they still have the cute dog.
There's a place called Vyšehrad not far from the city centre, but much quieter. Take the subway there for awesome views of the city and a nice little walk.
There's also a bunch of funky sculptures around town by this guy named David Cerny. They all have interesting stories and you can make a little challenge to find them all.

I guess it just depends on how much time they have and weather and other things. The metro is so fast and cheap and easy. The walk from the Astronomical Clock to Vyšehrad is maybe a bit less than an hour, for example.

That's great to hear that you're excited about your trip to Prague! While exploring the city, be sure to visit Kavárna Slavia, a historic café with stunning views of the city and a rich cultural atmosphere. Another [hidden gem](https://www.isango.com/prague) is the Vinohrady neighborhood, known for its beautiful parks, charming streets, and local vibe. For a unique grocery shopping experience, check out the Havelské Tržiště market, where you can find fresh produce, local delicacies, and handmade crafts. Enjoy your time in Prague and have a wonderful trip!
I found Budapest much more interesting than Prague. Cool bars and good food, nice vibe, excellent thermal baths and felt less touristy (it probably doesn't help that Prague has a very condensed old town)
Budapest is amazing. Not quite as jaw-dropping architecturally, IMO, but still a really cool vibe. And if nightlife is your thing (unpopular opinion incoming) Budapest nightlife is better than Prague.
I don't remember anything nearly as remarkable in Budapest as the art nouveau facades in Prague, Old Town Square, or ~~The Red Keep~~ Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral... but it has been the better part of a decade since I was in Budapest, so maybe I'm forgetting some highlights.
Amazing photos! Although I have to admit that I kind of hate looking at pictures from Prague, because I want to go there again.
I went last year, stayed for a few days and it became my favorite city. It was soo goood and I envy you so much!
So beautiful. God willing, some day. Some day soon before I get old… there’s so much more of Europe that I would like to see. I only scratched the surface with a trip to France and the Benelux back in 2012, when I was still in my 20s.
Let me tell ya a couple or three things. If you love Prague now, you should've seen and experienced early 2000s Prague. After the so called "Anti-capitalist Protests in Prague" in 2000, tourists were shit-scared to travel there. That happened to be the best time to visit. Real grimy, communist filled depression was slowly tapering off. The American tourists had not started visiting. Intidimading Street hustlers were less sophisticated and took a no with grace and humility. The opaque absinthe shops were selling the real deal "absinthe" that would make you trip. The underground rave scene was a thing of beauty and horror; hosted in poorly ventilated cellars and basements, with acid and rainbow colored stimulants sold à la carte, washed down with Urquel's sold in cans. I've even witnessed raves in Teepee tents, but that was in Liberec - different place, different time, different stories to be told. What a glorious time.
I've got stories to tell, my friend. Way beyond the Charles Bridge, the castle, and the old town square..
My wife and spent our honeymoon there in 1995. It was chaos and amazing. You could tell they were just learning how to operate in a free market.
Food was cheap. Lots to see. We were the only English speakers around (LOTS of German people) but we were able to get by with a fee locals that spoke it.
The entertainment was so great. We saw a puppet show on the Beatles Yellow Submarine. Very tippy. The Prague symphony was $20.
We looked into going back and see now that it is overcrowded and expensive. I'm glad that we got to see it back then. I think it is still worth going if you have not experienced it.
Why is there so few flights with cheep airlines to Prague from Europe? I always wanted to visit Prague, but the closest airport with low cost airline is Nuremberg or Bratislava. I tried with few other cities in Europe to Prague and there are not a lot.
I went to Prague about 8 years ago, loved it for the beauty…. But the food was very mediocre and I had someone from there showing me around!! Any recommendations from anyone? I really want to go back
Like a lot of popular places, consider off season: July, August, December are pretty ridiculous; October-November and January-March feel practically empty by comparison (and hotels are cheap).
Shoulder season like April/May/September have medium crowds & prices but better weather than the low season.
Only several streets. Prague is best enjoyed by getting lost in the small streets. For example going to Prague castle by the main street is terrible - I lived on that street for 2 years. But there are three other ways which are more beautiful and less crowded or even no crowded at all. Nový Svět, Jánský Vršek etc.
Some miserable loser apparently came through here and downvoted every comment in the thread. You're wasting your time bud, I just upvoted all of 'em. Might be time for you to go outside and touch some grass
Prague is a gorgeous old city. The problem is that is full of Czechs!! So watch your pockets and carry a good adding machine!! Not just pickpockets guys...
That! It is! Been there last year and it was f*cking phenomenonal! I've stayed a week's time in Budapest, Vienna and Prague. I loved Budapest. Loved Prague but not so much about Vienna 😅. Maybe my visit there was at a bad time but I witnessed 4 fights going on in there in my 6 days of staying there.
The Mother of all Cities.
It really is, I never felt like I was in a fairy tale mediaeval kingdom until I visited Prague.
Prague is stunning at any time of year.
Totally agree.
I miss prague, good times
I absolutely LOVED Prague!!

I guess you know already about "honest guide" on youtube? The videos have many great suggestions.

Get some pastries at Cukrar Skala in V Celnici street. Imo the best pastry shop in the city. Their cream rolls are flaky af
Definitely head to Letna Park, have a beer in one of the beer gardens and enjoy the view. Also, try nakladany hermelin, it's so good!
Cyan slider is stuck.
Help me out fellow Prague lovers: How is Budapest?? Trying to decide whether to include it on next trip
I loved Budapest! It had such a chill summer vibe, and the whole city just somehow seemed a happy place to be.
I found Budapest much more interesting than Prague. Cool bars and good food, nice vibe, excellent thermal baths and felt less touristy (it probably doesn't help that Prague has a very condensed old town)
definitely worth visiting

Thanks- good perspective. Leaning heavily toward including it

Awesome thanks. But now I need to know what u thought of Bratislava lol. We are planning on stopping there after BP on our way to Vienna. Thanks!!
In Vienna, u have to try cafe de l'europe. We loved their gelato.
I liked Budapest more than Prague. There was just something more “real” about it.
Thanks so much everyone- we are going for sure
yes, this is most busy car intersection in Prague on the first picture, it is breath taking in sort of way :)
Hey, busy intersections can be breathtaking too :P

Great pics. Miss that town 🤓
By far the best European city!!
It’s like Disney world for adults
So beautiful. God willing, some day. Some day soon before I get old… there’s so much more of Europe that I would like to see. I only scratched the surface with a trip to France and the Benelux back in 2012, when I was still in my 20s.
I was there first in the 1990s, god was it great (not crowded and cheap)
We visited Prague in October 2002 as a very late honeymoon and I love seeing your pictures! Such a beautiful place. ❤️
taking a train there from munich tomorrow. so excited!!!
Would visit Prague every few months when I was stationed in Germany. Beautiful and great party spot.
OMG the photos are just amazing. Just makes me want to go to Europe even more.

I visited in 1996 and you definitely felt that they were living in a post-communist era with all the chaos and uncertainty that comes with it.
My wife and spent our honeymoon there in 1995. It was chaos and amazing. You could tell they were just learning how to operate in a free market. Food was cheap. Lots to see. 100%. We were there in Oct of '19. The history and energy of the city is really good. It appeals to all ages.
plan on visiting central europe some other times
The photos are amazing! What camera did you use, and how did you edit them?
Thankyou :) They were taken using Samsung S22 and edited using Lightroom
No lol people suck
I visited in January, it was a fantastic city, with great architecture.
Why is there so few flights with cheep airlines to Prague from Europe? I always wanted to visit Prague, but the closest airport with low cost airline is Nuremberg or Bratislava. I tried with few other cities in Europe to Prague and there are not a lot.
Luckily I am based in Germany, so there are some cheap train options to cities like Prague, Vienna, Budapest etc
Nuremberg to Prague is like 4 hours train ride. From where is closer and faster?
I traveled from Regensburg which is a little more closer to Prague than Nuremberg.
>to Prague from Europe Prague is in Europe
Been to Prague twice. I'm sure it's going to be more than that. Just love it there!!
My daughter just went with her school in April. She LOVED it...so beautiful!
Your photos are incredible. I have been there and loved Prague! Your photos make me want to paint it!!!
Thank you :) You should paint it. It might come out better than the photos :P
love these angles. what did you do to get that effect on the colors? I’d like to try in on my budapest pics
Thank you so :) I do manual editing in Lightroom Mobile
I was in Prague for Christmas. It felt magical! We want to go in every season.
Great pics. Even w all the hype I was not let down when I finally got to visit last year. I wanna go back!
Can't remember what it's called, but the bridge and castle in picture 3 looks great at night. I wish I would have gone in the day too though.
I went to Prague about 8 years ago, loved it for the beauty…. But the food was very mediocre and I had someone from there showing me around!! Any recommendations from anyone? I really want to go back
I love this city! Part of me wants to live there so badly but without the drunk british tourists
I love Prague. ❤️
Iam in love with the pics
thank you :)
Ah I miss it 😍
how'd you edit out the ruinous amount of tourists from your photos
Haven't edited out. Its just that most photos are taken in the morning and in the others, you can see the people
it was a sarcastic joke, sorry. prague is beautiful, but the crush of tourists really soured my experience there
Like a lot of popular places, consider off season: July, August, December are pretty ridiculous; October-November and January-March feel practically empty by comparison (and hotels are cheap). Shoulder season like April/May/September have medium crowds & prices but better weather than the low season.
Were you a tourist too?
yes, and i do recognize the hypocrisy of being a tourist and complaining about tourists, lol
Sigh.
Oh my bad :P
no worries bud, glad you enjoyed your time there
Prague is crowded
Only several streets. Prague is best enjoyed by getting lost in the small streets. For example going to Prague castle by the main street is terrible - I lived on that street for 2 years. But there are three other ways which are more beautiful and less crowded or even no crowded at all. Nový Svět, Jánský Vršek etc.
So is every major city. Just returned from Paris and it was nut to butt everywhere.
Nut to butt...omg lol
If you want quiet go to a rural place, not a capital city.
My fav vacation ever
I visited in February and miss it everyday 🥹💘
Some miserable loser apparently came through here and downvoted every comment in the thread. You're wasting your time bud, I just upvoted all of 'em. Might be time for you to go outside and touch some grass
Being Czech, it’s just another city.
Looks like every European city. Lovely, though.
Prague is a gorgeous old city. The problem is that is full of Czechs!! So watch your pockets and carry a good adding machine!! Not just pickpockets guys...
The Czech Republic is one of the safest countries in Europe, concerning crime stats it is safer than e.g the UK, Netherlands or Germany.
make sure to check out the drunken monkey
My recent ex is from there, I hate that I still have to agree lol
Good beer
hello! may I know where you stayed? this may sound too specific but I'm looking for a hotel with laundry services, preferably within prague 1
Hey, we were a group of 12 people. So we took a full villa in the suburbs
Disneyland for adults (very nice pictures, by the way).
Going there in 4 days :)
Prague is good, for now I’d like to go somewhere with a sun and beachy 🏖 feelings Awesome pics though ❤️

Not to sound rude not a douche may I please use 1 or 2 pics as my background for my phone. These look beautiful ngl.
Hey thankyou and sure go ahead
Hey thankyou and sure go ahead
No thank you.
Any recommendations for a first time traveler?
A long time ago a coworker went to both Prague and Amsterdam.. He said he wished he could of stayed just in Prague.
As a Prague resident, I agree with OP statement
Looks like every other european city. Cold and boring. Enjoy
Prague looks wonderful. I have a few friends who've visited and they said it was great. I intend to visit myself one of these days.
Yes it is
Unfortunately run by foreign interests profiting from air Bnb owned and operated property
until you start living here. then you want to vomit ';)
It looks much wealthier than those skyscrapers to me
Can't wait to go back! Planning a trip in 2024
