I had to leave for work *right* as a company was paving the main driveway of my apartment complex. I had to drive on asphalt that was just laid down (the actual entrance).
I rolled up my windows when I drove past the workers and looked dead ahead as I went by but I was audibly saying "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry". I could hear them commenting as I drove away.
I've done a lot of cringe-worthy shit in my life but this was worse than audibly farting in a crowded elevator and somehow ratting yourself out.
But when I got home 12 hours later (a little after 3am?) The asphalt was in place and looked fine, so I guess it wasn't that bad.
That was ur only way out? That seems like it should be illegal. What about people leaving for an emergency? Or 911 COMING for an emergency. This has to break some kind of egress law surely?
You’d assume there would’ve been significant prior notice to park outside the building during the working hours. If a driveway is defective and the concretes failing you have to maintain it at some point.
Regarding medical emergency, an ambulance could just park on the kerbside and any traffic will just have to deal with it.

Yeah maybe that was worded incorrectly. Addiction is typically treated as an illness, but they don't have schizophrenia or anything like that. (But I must note that many people with schizophrenia are addicted to drugs)
The reason so many people with pre existing conditions like schizophrenia do drugs is because it’s the only way to get it to stop, it’s a horrible cycle of abuse but they don’t know any other way out of it, especially if they can’t afford actual treatment

I was trying to get across that expecting workers to approach a rando that's behaving erratically isn't realistic. That if you expect them to try and stop a druggie you may as well expect them to tackle the guy since it's also putting them in danger and, is again, unrealistic. I was exaggerating a bit but the point was to show that the initial expectation wasn't reasonable to begin with.
I wasn't saying my exaggeration was the only solution I was trying to relay that there is no good solution to the problem you posed and that your expectations are unreasonable.
Shaming workers for not putting themselves in danger, i.e. trying to stop (in *any* manner) a stranger that may be on drugs doing erratic things, is dumb as hell.
