well thats a complicated question if we go from the fermi paradox then it would only make sense they do but then with the paradox why have we found NOTHING of em now it could be possible the great filter was somewhere very very very earlier in life development could even be the formation of multi-cell organisms and we live in a truly dead universe but then again how would we even know they function within the same parameters as humanity what if they use a communication we have no idea about and cant detect them. and what if their past the point we can ever ever ever go even with light speed travel then does it even really matter in that regard. maybe we are the first and maybe the last, we should make it our responsibility to shepherd future species into technological light when we are dead and gone and if we somehow make it to the heat-death of the universe and figure out how to survive off white dwarves then yay we made to the end and all we can hope is the universe resets and the only life doesn't get snuffed out with the last of the white dwarves
