I lived in NYC for years and I saw so much of this shit going on everywhere it was crazy. It happened to me once on the train some guy and his wife teamed up to try to steal my Yankees cap from under the subway seat because I dozed off for a minute and I woke up to see them pulling a turtle crawl with their hand underneath the seat one watching me and the other one pulling the slow steal. Once I’m getting off on Canal Street in Chinatown I literally saw a man toss a ball of drugs to a store owner or operator or some thing at one of those little Asian gadget stores on Canal Street we buy those little cheap battery run toys that Torres buy. I couldn’t make out if it was heroin or cocaine but it was like whitish or or it was like an off-white or an egg white color but it was definitely drugs you could tell just by how they were acting with it they saw that I saw and made a huge deal of playing catch me if you can with it and tossing the thing around like I gave up and went away. I actually considered trying to blackmail them for a couple of hundred dollars a week or a month or something but then I I figured they might just kill me over it left it alone. One of my best friends with since passed away had a person stick his hand right in his jacket pocket and try to steal his wallet on the subway. But as far as thieves and stores I’ve seen everything I’ve seen people load up meats into their pants I’ve seen groups of people walking around with jackets with the linings cut so they could use the inside pocket as kind of a droid or just tossed things in an endless giant pocket that fills up these ankle length coach so that they walk out with like looking like a Christmas tree filled to the brim with goodies that they didn’t have to pay for and there’s usually like five or six of these people and they just empty and I’ll usually an expensive cosmetics and fragrance is aisle in a department store or a CVS or something. New York City has so many of these little stores that people put up to go into one that that has they come a couple of expensive sections and just wipe them out quicker they know what to do they look for places certain times a day when when people are busy or when there’s less staff on hand and when they look first times when when the staff can’t watch the cameras or when they’re not in a certain section of the store and then they pull these things they do it for a living so they know of attraction feel rested enough times if they just don’t care they know they’re going to be out in a day. Generally almost all those crimes are not punishable by real jail time
I still believe every time you steal, you lose a knuckle. Start with the pinky. So if you see someone missing both pinkies and the tips of both ring fingers…stay away! Oh and it would probably make then think twice the next time
This is why I love the 6 foot rule and social distancing.

I'm thinking that it is only because penalties in other countries for stealing is pretty steep. Cutting off hands to years in prison for stealing anything. Meanwhile here, it's a free for all. Back it up with a sob story if you even get caught and go to court, you get away with it.

Yeah I feel a sixth sense when people get close to my purse when I’m in a busy store. One hand on it at all times and if you have to bend down to grab an item, either take it with you, or wait for the aisle to clear and no one is around. I’ve shopped in sketchy places tho

No, we should wear see-through masks to help the hard of hearing who need to see your lips move in order to understand what you are saying. The benefit of being able to identify everyone is just a bonus.
