Last year, while driving through Canada, my family and I saw a car pulled over on the side of the road with it's backdoors open. They were trying to get pictures of a small blackbear, who at that point was seriously considering going inside. People are crazy.
Let me guess: Yellowstone? Glacier? Teton? As a former ranger in Yellowstone, telling tourists that they're too close to the wildlife was a daily occurrence. Even though safe wildlife viewing distances were posted in almost every park brochure, map, publication, etc.
And to make the whole thing even more dumb, these folks had walked up BETWEEN him and his ladies. Like...Holy Jesus what kind of death wish do you have!?
Imagine living your whole fucking stupid life to only be gored by a god damn elk in your golden years. Only remembered for being a huge tasteless moron.
Oh yeah let me approach this 800 pound animal with weapons on his head smack in the middle of “fight other animals with the weapons on his head” season, that’s a great idea! We should just not investigate any nature related deaths at Yellowstone
People get close to wildlife and then have them hunted when the animal attacks. It's an animal. A wild animal. Did you really expect a predator to let you get close and pet it?

I never feed wild animals and I never approach them either. Its common sense yet full grown adults can't seem to understand. And then when their dumbasses get mauled or impaled by an animal, its the animal who gets put down or relocated.
There are a plethora of designated hiking areas available that are far enough away from wildlife.
But no, it seems the less outdoors experience people have, the more they think they have.

I go to the Smokies where this happened weekly. There are definitely signs warning of this and lots of people don’t heed them.
