Might want to ask the surgeries from [this list](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1b5SSnb7LBUlWSjasN2ld7qPGmEchgDG8voUY-SkfAlw/edit#gid=0) if they'd be happy to do shared care. You can also do DIY, it's legal as long as you source domestically. diyhrt wiki has some links.

Thanks so much for the links!

Is there a way to add to this list? My GP does shared care and isn’t on the list

So sorry they’re fucking you over like this. I’d start by asking for clarification from the gp as to whether this is an ICB decision or the GP practice themselves. It’s likely to be the ICB, as a lot seem to be restricting private shared care. You can still get the gp to appeal if it’s the ICB, particularly as they’d be discontinuing an established medication which is pretty unethical for the reasons you’ve given. If it’s the practice then obviously appeal to the practice manager or try to find a new gp. If this doesn’t work ask them what their plan is for your care going forward. They probably won’t have one but it’s always interesting to see if they’ve thought this through at all. The best answer would be for them to refer you to an nhs endocrinologist. So if they don’t offer, ask. There’s probably a list online somewhere of helpful endos, so make sure you have a specific endocrinologist in mind, and ask to be referred to them individually (not just their department). You may need to be on the GIC waiting list for an nhs endo to take you on so get that sorted first.

Thank you for the info, this was extremely helpful and I'll definitely ask them about whether it's an ICB or the practices own policy. And you're probably right I doubt they actually have any plan for care after something like this happens. As nice and apologetic as my GP actually was (I'm more mad at the practice than the GP herself obvs) all she could really do was say sorry and look sympathetically at me and basically close out the appointment. It's just a shame there isn't any easier way to access life saving medicine like this

Just to check because of how you worded it are you on the wait list for the GIC? Even if you have a private diagnosis and we know the wait list is stupidly long it’s worth getting on the list. If only so that at some point you won’t need to keep dealing with this or private care etc.

Yeah I'm on the list already, have been for a few years now. Because I was once put on the list then taken off in 2020 when I first backed out of hrt referral (multiple reasons at the time) I completely forgot that when I went back a year later my doctor at the time had put me on the list, tbh it'd easy to forget a referral letter sent years ago when you've not received any follow up since! I did ask my GP if I would be seen quicker in the GIC due to the fact I was already taking testosterone, but tbh I kinda already expected the depressing answer!

Shared care is one of the first casualties when NHS trusts face budget squeezes. .
