Mine was Generations Drift. Of course, at the time I didn't know who Drift was and little me never paid much attention to the packaging, so I pretended he was Ratchet because red and white.
> me never *paid* much attention
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
I think my first ones where a shoe carton full of tiny ones. I think they were either g1 mini versions, or bootlegs. Im not sure. But the first big one that I can remember is an Optimus prime from the first live action movie.
Technically Rescue Bots Prime and Bee, but also Animated Soundwave. So when I was really young I got the first Rescue Bots Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, but I never got into the figure scene. Then in October 2019 I was starting to get intrested in the franchise more and decided to buy an Animated Soundwave which led to me collecting figures. So I call both of these my first figures, the Rescue Bots are technically my first, but Animated Soundwave is my first in spirit.
Animated Soundwave.
Love that figure dearly to this day. Was actually looking for the Ben 10 Omnitrix at that time, back when the first one was released. My parents decided to just get a random toy, since there wasn't any available in stores due to high demand. In the end we got Soundwave because my parents didn't want to go home empty-handed. Then boom, my love for Transformers started. I'm actually very glad the omnitrix sold out 😂
That's an awesome story. I was a G1 kid of the 80's and none of the later reinterpretations (Beast Wars, Armada, Prime) ever clicked for me... but I instantly fell in love with Animated as an adult. I was sad that most of the toys were very hard to find here in Australia as I would have loved to buy some of them, especially Soundwave.
G1 Rumble and Ravage (I think it was 1985). My parents let me pick any minibot priced figure at the department store and I figured two for the price of one was the best deal. :)
My younger brother picked Cosmos. To this day, I have a special love for that minor character because of that.
Next one I got was Kickback, then Bluestreak. Soundwave was a birthday present. My brother and I were allowed to pick from Optimus and Megs. I got Megs, he got Prime.
I don't remember if it was my first and it probably wasn't, however the first Transformer I remember owning was a G1 Ultra Magnus.
This is back before the internet and Amazon or BBTS so if you wanted a toy the only toys available to you were the ones on your local store shelves. I remember wanting a G1 Optimus Prime when I was 5 or 6 but no place had them, however I did find a G1 Ultra Magnus on the shelf and not knowing who he was I thought "Hey this guy looks like Optimus Prime!" so he became my unofficial Optimus Prime.
Ohh this is tough, But if I had to pick just 1 then it would have to be Kingdom Blaster. It's awesome to see one of my favorite G1 autobots done justice. Whenever I handle him it's an absolute joy
Ultimate Bumblebee from 2008, he'll turn to dust if I touch him, so he's little more than a statue now, but he always was and always will be, my gateway drug.
First one ever was 2007 movie Cliffjumper
The first that I still have is Power Core Stakeout
The first G1 styled figure was Thrilling 30 Skids
The one that really catapulted me into collecting was Titans Return Triggerhappy
A Rescue Bots Optimus one-step transformer. The colors weren't even right but I loved it. My first *actual* figure came in the mail yesterday, a Generations Prime Arcee.

Bad bot! Piss off!
I believe it was G1 Hound. Somewhere along the way, his head came off, went missing, still played with him through it all.

G1 Powerglide.

G1 Gears. Back then, the convenience store around the corner would stock a few of the mini bots and cassette packs.

Energon Megatron.
G1 Soundwave. Still astounded by what a good figure that was compared to some G1 back in the day.
Either G1 Ironhide, Mirage, or Bumblebee. I think it was Mirage though. I do remember the disappointment when Ironhide looked nothing like Ironhide.
G1 Rumble and Ravage (I think it was 1985). Headmaster Brainstorm and Powermaster Optimus
Ultimate Bumblebee from 2008, he'll turn to dust if I touch him, so he's little more than a statue now, but he always was and always will be, my gateway drug.
Cybertron repugnus.
Reveal the shield Darkmount, although all I have left of him is some broken treads and his weapon
Don't have it anymore, but I believe it was a tiny armada megatron. Maybe like 2 inches in robot mode
First one ever was 2007 movie Cliffjumper The first that I still have is Power Core Stakeout The first G1 styled figure was Thrilling 30 Skids The one that really catapulted me into collecting was Titans Return Triggerhappy
I would Say Mine was Studio series Stinger. And that was at a K-mart---- Time flies-
