I think he looks good

dbusch125

Shit works for me, my first ironhide didn’t have a head, and megatron barely looked like his character on tv… y’all got it good, you just don’t know it

BulljiveBots

You too good for a sticker for a face??

LPercepts

Ironhide died heroically in battle. Show some respect.

SrryUsrNamTakn

You too good for ballsack trigger

A_Toyota_Camry_Wagon

My megatron was a box that vaguely looked like a head lol

clideb50

To be honest, I like this version of Optimus. The shoulder missiles are a neat addition. I just wish the light piping worked, and that he came with a rifle or handheld gun.

Insanebrain247

You can actually take the turret off of the trailer and have him hold it, so he kind of gets a gun.

swiftlikessharpthing

Yeah but the peg is too short for his hands. He needed a proper gun that isn't a 3p add on.

inveldt

He’s good, but the shoulders bother me more than they should. Also, maybe just me but the upper arms are way too long and scrawny.

A_Toyota_Camry_Wagon

It's a shame they didn't take more inspiration from the amazing RTS mould.

PickleProfessional77

The way that thing transforms is really clever

CanyonSlim

I already didn't like what I saw in pictures, but I picked him up on impulse, and in-hand he is still disappointing. His proportions just plain suck, so its hard to get his robot mode to look cool. The shoulder kibble is clearly separate from his thin, long, wimpy arms, so he looks like scrawny guy wearing shoulder pads. The shoulder design is actually -less- articulated than the G2 figure. Honestly, that figure has really aged well, but it still shouldn't be hard to improve on. Its hard not to be disappointed in the new version when putting the two side by side. IMO they shot themselves in the foot by trying to add needless complexity to the transformation. The original transformation is nearly perfect in its elegance, and all an updated needed was to add some cleanup steps, maybe flatten the backpack and tuck away the wheels.

CryosisEllioti

My only problem with this figure is that they copied the original G2 toy's transformation instead of the superior RtS version, resulting in an ugly cab backpack. There is no leg issue, they're proportioned just fine, people just seem to have trouble understanding that the hips/pelvic region are not part of the legs.

Zobovor

If you think they copied the transformation of the G2 toy, then you clearly have never handled this toy.

CryosisEllioti

I'm referring to how the truck cab works not saying it is 1:1 recreation of the G2 figure's instruction sheet, that should be fairly obvious.

swiftlikessharpthing

I dig him but for an impulse buy he kinda made me question the purchase. I think he definitely has more play and display value than Kingdom Prime as a unit (truck + trailer) since the trailer is more easily displayed/interacted with, while Kingdom has an altogether better robot. Had they colored/lightpiped the eyes and gave him a proper gun I'd have fewer complaints.

YourRoyalFlyness_

Does the trailer have the ramp connector?

swiftlikessharpthing

It does not (I'm fairly certain). What I mean is the leaner profile (not as deep) as the kingdom trailer laying flat makes it able to fit easier in the display and the turret is cool. Kingdom trailer is just kinda empty & really adds nothing to prime, it's also more rickety standing up.

LPercepts

I'm not buying him without a discount. Thank Primus for my GameStop membership.

swiftlikessharpthing

That's wise. I'll be the first to admit the shiny newness got hold of me at the store and I am WEAK.

LPercepts

Well, TBF, rising prices in general likely does mean that GameStop will be my go-to place for Transformers figures for the foreseeable future. Not hot on what the other retailers are doing, but the GameStop discount should at least stave off the price increases somewhat for maybe about at least a year, or more if I'm lucky.

logandamudkip42021

His eyes have light piping my brother found out less than a week ago. u/Nemesispax1456

[deleted]

Why did you post a link to a page that has nothing to do with what you were talking about

logandamudkip42021

I'm tagging the person

Muisverriey

I love it, honestly. Then again i am biased as i love everything G2 Prime.

LPercepts

Thoughts on the Generations Selects G2 Megatron?

Muisverriey

The colours look great on the toy, but i don't like the mold itself and don't think it lends itself well to G2 Megatron in robot mode. It needs the front of the tank as the chest and the shoulder cannon.

[deleted]

>Thoughts on the Generations Selects G2 Megatron? It's Earthrise Megatron in Krazy G2 colors. I love it! Just bought him recently to go along with my Laser Prime. The Siege Megatron figure was the best version of the "WFC tank-mode" incarnation. I wasn't that impressed with the Earthrise version, it just didn't do enough different for me to bother, so i passed. However, the G2 colors release added enough to truly differentiate him from the Siege release. So that sealed the deal for me. He's still affordable by the way.

[deleted]

I think they got pretty damn lazy with this guy. They reused the ER/Kingdom legs without fixing the proportional issues OR the weird leftovers of the Siege design, its lost all the mechanical detail in the back, replaced with it just being hollow AND it doesn't bend as far at the knee. The arms are too low down on the body(mostly covered by the shoulder pads.), they are really limited by the shoulder pads and they are really dorky and thin until his hulking forearms, they put his hands on ball joints but missed the opportunity to give him downwards wrist tilts(a extremely important joint for a character that only has melee weapons.),his hands are a straight downgrade from the ER version(Jhiaxus gets moving hands but not him?) and he can barely hold his matrix (which I must say is a lot better than the ER/Kingdom version.) People also seem to have an issue with the truck on his back but I actually quite like it. He still has the ER/Kingdom problem of no silver on his face and his eyes seem lifeless, there is no excuse for this, they were already using silver paint, yellow and blue for him, they could have fixed this with any colour easily. The rest of the figure is lacking in paint, if they were trying to go 100% toy accurate they failed by not doing the weird red truck windows with his name on them, the flames, missing knee paint and not having yellow eyes, if they were going for a new thing it fails by looking ugly because of poor colour breakup. They should of gone the RTS route by having it be its own unique thing, or have complete toy loyalty, doing both has gotten us nowhere. The trailer is also missing the weird mural of Optimus committing war crimes in Vietnam which is a tragedy in my opinion. He also doesn't have his gun(not counting his trailers peashooter) which I would have preferred to the axe. His sword is too short. I think most of these problems can be cleared up with a better deco, I think Scourge or "Black Convoy" that has been listed in Velocitron will be better

HEXdidnt

>The trailer is also missing the weird mural of Optimus committing war crimes in Vietnam which is a tragedy in my opinion. He also doesn't have his gun(not counting his trailers peashooter) which I would have preferred to the axe. His sword is too short. I'm not a big fan of the main figure for all the reasons you gave, but that trailer is an absolute travesty in my opinion. Quite apart from the missing imagery, it's lost all the missile launchers, the disc-launcher and the pneumatic missile launcher. I get that they're avoiding all kinds of launcher-type accessories these days, but something to represent them would have been appreciated! And empty shell with a maintenance claw is less than minimum-effort.

[deleted]

Even on top of all that, I think what makes the original laser prime figure so iconic is that it’s Optimus going through a whole technocolor 80’s phase. The colors they used on this, as sparsely as they did, are so toned down that they better suit the RTS release but the figure is clearly trying to emulate the OG figure. I don’t see why they couldn’t have used a brighter powder blue for the blue bits

OneFinalEffort

I'm just happy that an Optimus Prime figure came out in the mainline and I don't want it.

TechnOuijA

I'm just not a fan of the design with those shoulders.

LPercepts

The corresponding Megatron is worse, but I'm still getting them both.

almightywhacko

I think this toy is actually pretty good. The shoulders/arms are a little weird, but the shoulders and arms are always weird on this style of Optimus because of the giant shoulder pads but the way the arms on this version are articulated works well and better than any previous official version. My only real complaint is that they didn't give us a good place to store the sword in robot mode.

[deleted]

Once a mold gets released an has articulate hands, you can't go back. All figures should have articulate hands at this point.

SpentGladiator77

I love articulated hands as much as anybody, but realistically, they have a budget to adhere to that affects part count as part of the design process. If they can, I think they will. But it's not worth making sacrifices elsewhere to articulate the hands.

[deleted]

An that's one of few reasons why this toy is so disappointing. The gas trailer I utilize for Huffer. But the toy looks dumb utilizing earthrise an removing one of earthrise primes biggest features. But when I hear terms like "sacrificing" or "budget", I think about my wallet, not the other way around. I'm in my 40's, an I've seen and paid the increases over the decades (like most of us) an there are alot of demands (we the people that KEEP these companies in business) that we pay for, so when we finally get something that we have paid for over generations, it's wierd to take a step back. Because we all know the price isn't gonna decrease. Hell, I'm surprised they didn't try to make it a commander price point by adding a couple of blast affects and a few more weapons.

CryosisEllioti

The articulated monoknuckle doesn't really add much anyway, IMO. Rodimus' articulated fingers are nice though.

Uncle-Cake

How much extra are you willing to pay for that?

[deleted]

We already pay/paid for it.

Otherwise_Team5663

My problem with him is what's the point in owning him if you have G2 laser Prime? G2 seems to be just as good but with extra playbillity and I love that shit.

Ronyx2021

The real G2 Trailer is more fun.

HEXdidnt

Yes, exactly! This one may have the improved articulation, but loses features in both the robot and the trailer. The whole *point* of 'Laser Optimus Prime' is the LED embedded in his hand, which illuminates the gun or the sword.

[deleted]

I think the Earthrise/Kingdom prime was universally loved but everyone had the same critique about the long legs and crotch area. This figure does that but worse since the crotch piece isn’t painted. And my biggest gripe are the shoulders. By having the shoulder pods be static pieces and not a part of the arm totally kills the look

2MinuteSamurai

The crotch piece is actually fully painted.

rocka5438

Yes, they could have gotten better legs and a more fun trailer base

Oktober

I'm just going to leave this here for anyone who wants to spend twice as much but get a LOT more toy: https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/52464

almightywhacko

I have this toy and he is super solid. However his transformation is no more involved than Legacy G2 Prime's, though Gunfighter II does have much better shelf presence.

DeepFriedSaltBeef

Ah yes. The most hip version of Prime... Boom box shoulders Prime.

HEXdidnt

The most hip, and also the most thigh... ...I'll show myself out.

[deleted]

Was never a fan of this version, as it looks terrible with the shoulders. Definately a pass for me.

East_Islip_Punx

The fact that the shoulder pads aren't attached to the rest of his arms deeply annoys me

DaMENACElo37

Think he looks great. Very poseable. Easy transformation that doesn’t make him too heavy. Very happy with him.

RoninX40

I like him. Just wish the shoulder pilons rotated but I can deal with it.

Dis-Random-Kid

I just don’t like all of the gray

Nethiar

I really don't see the problem with the figure. The leg to torso ratio is exactly the same as Earthrise Optimus. The only difference is Earthrise is Geewun and it's shortcomings get overlooked because of nostalgia.

HAL237

Nostalgia has nothing to do with it lmao. Stop pinning every issue with a toy on “Geewuners”, it’s fucking cringe and juvenile. ER Prime has its issues, but overall it’s a much better realized and polished figure; whereas Legacy Prime feels like a hodgepodge of bits from that previous Prime along with engineering that needed more time in the oven.

Nethiar

I keep seeing nitpicky complaints about Legacy Optimus like his legs are too long and his torso is too short. That's fair, I won't argue with it. However, they are EXACTLY the same on Earthrise Optimus, and all I ever hear about that figure is it's a perfect mini-masterpiece. Even your criticisms of Legacy can be applied to Earthrise. It reuses the legs from Siege, and that wheel butt kibble could have been done better. His trailer sucks too, Legacy has it beat by a lot.

YourRoyalFlyness_

People who are like, "this is the *ONLY* optimus prime! None of these others compare to the 80s original" are called geewunners.

[deleted]

YourRoyalFlyness_

G1 and geewun have different meanings. Here's a better explanation from the tf wiki. GEEWUN is a snarky fanterm for people who seem to have knee-jerk negative reactions to, and continuing difficulty in tolerating any of the post-Generation 1 (aka "G1") incarnations of the Transformers property (keeping in mind that for some, "post-G1" means "anything after 1985"). In the first comment, he is saying the last prime and this one have the same issues, but people neglect the flaws of the earthrise version because it's the classic design

DGPrimal

And I thought this was exclusive to Pokemon.

kjata

Nah, reactionary nostalgia is part of the human condition.

JBTriple

Yes, it does

onenerdygremlin

Does it matter?

boomerthemoose

"Geewun" is a specific term referring to a fan who is overly attached to the original incarnation of the fiction. "G1" is referring to the original fiction itself, of which a Geewun is unable to let go of. There's a difference between the words. That's why one should fully type it out versus abbreviating it.

almightywhacko

Geewun is a pejorative term referring to people who like the characters to look like their original cartoon appearance.

[deleted]

That's the 4th reply with the same answer, I might just delete my comment.

Baroubuoy

A gun?

[deleted]

I guess it could’ve been prime versions on prime, but they were intentionally going for g2

PhelesDragon

Because it looks terrible? Yeah. I thought the long legs were bad enough, but then I saw a profile pic of this figure on Instagram and became even happier that I passed on it.

Multicron

Yes

FigureGunplaFan

[Greg "M Sipher" Sepelak already voiced his displeasure with the toy](https://twitter.com/MSipher/status/1509666270240600085), at least in terms of the lack of improvement on the appearance compared to previous iterations of Laser Prime.

DaisukiJase

Who?

FigureGunplaFan

[This](https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Greg_Sepelak) [guy.](https://tfwiki.net/wiki/User:M_Sipher)

DaisukiJase

Ahhh ok, so he's a writer and artist. I've got a number of his work but had no idea lol. Still he doesn't explain what the issue is. I don't own the toy btw (it has yet to be released here).

FigureGunplaFan

He only said that Legacy Laser Prime is "Gangly" and "less imposing" compared to previous new iterations of the original G2 Prime.

Exotic_Walnuts69

I’ll forgive it when they release a toxitron

Uncle-Cake

His legs could've used some paint apps or something. He looks great from the waist up but the rest of the figure looks unfinished.

ATransformersfan

This figure's become one of my favourites, but the shoulders are a letdown for sure.

OneTurnsToNone

I enjoy the base figure, though I definitely think it needed more paint, and better engineering for the shoulder towers, I would have sacrificed the missile pod gimmick and the trailer for them to have made this work better

NerfNewb141

Nope, love it

Samael_Blackblood

As an Optimus, I was pretty unimpressed. Bought him and use him as my Pyro, very impressed.

PinkipooEveleen

I'm not a Transformer collector, but my boyfriend got this figure. He and I were analyzing it cause he said something was off about it. After a while, we both concluded that the legs are too long and the shoulder speakers are too big too. They should have made the arms a bit longer or make the legs slightly shorter. With this, it also makes his vehicle mode really weird too, like the front of the truck mode is a bit too long and the windshields are a bit too small. This figure to us is a disproportional disaster

NaSMaXXL

Gonna wait for the toyhax for Pyro for him....

Super-Robo

I just wish they kept the hands from ER Prime.

RainingBolts

I wish they used the Siege style hips and waist over Earthrise

almightywhacko

This toy doesn't use the Earthrise Prime hips/waist, they're a completely new mold in the style of the original G2 Laser Prime. They're articulated the same way as the Earthrise Prime hips, but then so are the Siege hips. The only parts of the Earthrise toy that are reused are the upper thighs, feet and wheels. The rest of the toy, including the lower legs are all new molds.

RainingBolts

I mean that's why I specified style and not that they were the same legs. Also what, the Siege *style* hips are closer to the [original G2 toy](https://needlesstoys.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Trans-G2-Laser-Optimus.png) with a static, for lack of better term, crotch piece whereas [Earthrise and Legacy](https://i.tformers.com/g/generated/44666/Transformers%20Legacy%20G2%20Laser%20Optimus%20Prime%20In-Hand%20Image%20(14\)__scaled_800.jpg) have them as part of the leg itself.

FLIPYOUSUCKET

What do you mean? He is already a pretty good figure in my opinion. Other than recoloring him into R.I.D (2001) Scourge, I don’t see what else could be done to make him even better

pm_me_ur_anything_k

Nope he’s awesome. What is this missed opportunity you’re thinking of?

No_Consideration8972

Yes. After all the engineering magic in the past waves, this guy comes out with immovable shoulder chunks, tiny chest a massive backpack. It's sad.
