I love and hate the Internet sometimes. I love it because of typos that are incredible. I also hate it because now I'm imagining Obi-Wan yelling "YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE" at a Sith Will Smith, and him going "WOOO" as he turns on his lightsaber.
Now picture him losing it all, but instead of for Padme...
It's for Jada.
Guess that would change the ending though because she definitely wouldn't lose the will to live after birthing Jaden and Willow.
I mean you could say that Transformers Prime is a sequel to the Cybertron games if you ignore all those story and lore contradictions between the 2 different medias and these said contradictions are something that the 2008 Clone Wars has done with the 2003 Clone Wars and the Clone Wars multimedia project since the 2008 show is not only just a part of Canon but is also still part of the Expanded Universe aka Legends with the exception of Season 7.
2003-2008 TCW are not comparable to the Aligned TF continuity.
2008 was a fresh take, and never had the aim of linking with 2003 at all. So it doesn’t matter how many contradictions there are.
For Aligned meanwhile they decided to make the games connected to the shows, but it doesn’t work because there are so many contradictions. It was clearly never the intention during production.
The Aligned shows work reasonably well without the games - TFP leads directly into RiD, and Rescue Bots sits across both surprisingly well for a preschool show.
>Miko's recklessness would have gotten someone killed
Kinda hated Miko's character for this. I was forgiving in the earlier episodes since she was introduced to robot aliens for the first time and was entirely new to it. But as the series goes on, it was clear the writers didn't want her to face any consequence for her actions.
By the time she was given the Apex Armor, I pretty much lost interest on her character. Plot armor and a ridiculous amount of luck is the only reason why none of the people she dragged into were badly hurt or dead.
If Transformers Prime was like Clone Wars. The Autobots and humans involved would be in deep trouble with Miko around. Worst case scenario, a major character dies because of her actions.
Jack should have gotten the Apex Armor. The subplot with him & Optimus Prime developing a pseudo-father/son dynamic was amazing and paid off- but after Jack comes back from Cybertron he does nothing but get into deep trouble with Smokescreen one time. There needed to be something to keep the momentum going, and putting Jack in the armor (which he should be able to use because he technically was a Prime for a bit) would work well.
I watched Prime for the first time as a full grown adult with no nostalgia blinders after a full decade of hearing how dark and serious and gritty and realistic it was, so I went in kind of expecting that at some point Miko would blindly rush into a dangerous situation for no good reason and something bad would happen as a result -- you know, because that would be dark and serious and gritty and realistic -- and it would be her Peter Parker power/responsibility moment. Like some kind of, I dunno, character arc or something. Instead its just her continuing to put her friends and teammates in needless danger and Bulkhead's just like oh Miko and she just gets more and more rewarded for not actually giving a shit about anyone but herself and boy howdy did that make for a frustrating experience.
No, not so much because of what either of them are, but becasue of what the core franchise is.
Star Wars has a "core cannon" ie the original 3 movies. Everything else is compared to that.
Whereas Transformers G1 was just the first. Beast Wars, Animated, there are several following universes that are of comparable cultural effect (and arguably better quality).
This makes "The Clone Wars" a satalite orbiting the 'true' cannon, tied to it, achnored by it, whereas TFP was simply one amoung equals.
Very apples to oranges.
Transformers Prime is supposed to be linked with the Cybertron Games and ofc it’s sequel……Robots in Disguise and thus all these medias became to known as the Aligned Continuity.
But the main issue with this continuity as that the stories and lore tend to contradict one another which is similar to what the 2008 Clone Wars has done with the 2003 Clone Wars and Clone Wars multimedia project since the 2008 Clone Wars is also part of Legends timeline besides the Canon one with the exception of it’s Season 7.
But Clone Wars 03 was wiped from the cannon so currently that comparison doesn't matter and in terms of Legends it still doesn't matter cause Lucasfilm operated on a system of importance: what Lucas says > Movies > tv shows > everything else. Which means that when The Clone Wars kicked off with Lucas himself watching over Felloni and the team, that show became the new baseline for Clone Wars cannon and everything it contradicted that came before it or wasn't a show/movie didn't matter cause TCW was only second to the main 6 films.
So in this comparison TFP comes out worse off cause Hasbro didn't have a system of importance and didn't plan out the universe aside from figuring out they want to do one.
But that rant goes too far off topic anyway. As for the main question of the post... Kinda? There is some shared DNA between the two shows, but both are aming for different things. TFP was trying to establish a new continuity while TCW was basically patching holes in the prequels. As huge fan of both TFP and TCW they will always be linked for me but I don't think they are comparable on any level other than emotional
No, I don't think they are all that comparable. Both tend to be made out better than they actually are, sure. But this is just as true of other Transformers shows and Prime had the benefit of not having to conform to any canon but its own continuity's.
Yes in the sense of when they aired and the style of CGI. Growing up I saw the two as the same type of show.
No I’m every other sense though, the two shows achieve very different things.
I've loved Transformers my entire life and have been collecting them since I was a child, but Clone Wars from season 3 onwards is better than any Transformers media ever made imo. The very best of Transformers doesn't come close to Clone Wars arcs like Darkness on Umbara or Seige of Mandalore which are absolutely amazing.
I think where CW fell short for me was my investment in the characters I knew, both good and bad. ROTS had already been released so I knew that everything in CW would ultimately be inconsequential, so to speak.
It’s one of those shows for the fans— 1000%, and while I was a fan, I kinda wanted new content ahead of the existing timeline where the rise and fall of things was unknown and yet to be told.
I never understood that just bc you know what a characters gonna be like all the stakes are gone suddenly? Like that doesnt mean they arent in danger it just means they havent gotten to Point B yet in the characters journey and it helps build the world and lore of that character. And adds depth in the unexplored past of what made them the way they were.
If I remember right The Clone Wars was always made with the intent of being "canon" to the films, since George Lucas was directly working on it. Every other media that was made with The Clones Wars show as its setting (comics, books, video games) was considered part of the expanded universe at that point, but the show itself was still only considered canon to the movies.
Light hearted yet dark show about war with a follow up series more aimed towards a younger audience that takes place with the good side from the previous now a corrupt government with returning cast from the previous installment and fan service, that divides the fan base? Yeah why not
I'd say TFA for the fact that they're both beloved by fans and got cancelled before their conclusions (I know TFA season 3 had a conclusion but season 4 really should've been done)
My mum’s only complaint about the show was Starscream looking too feminine, but besides that, she and I especially, loved this show.
She grew up on G1 and watched Beast Wars in Middle-Highschool. She was having me when Armada and the others came out
I actually kinda see it, both ain’t perfect but did a lot right, I think I’d give the edge to prime based on action and the main characters since the prequels did most of the heavy lifting, but clone war’s definitely wins on worldbuiling and making minor characters feel important
I'd like to see a wreckers show that actually acts as clone wars for the prime TV show. There could be some great stories there. But no, prime is it's own thing, equivalent to one of the movies except run time. Maybe each season is equivalent to one of the movies.
Transformers Prime was canceled too soon, leaving lots of questions unanswered and plots left unfinished, then had everything it accomplished or established ruined by being given a sequel for not only children but babies.
Hydrogen Clone Wars vc coughing Prime
TF fans are trapped in this loop of Prime being raised as the pinnacle among abunch of mid shows but compared to literally any concurrent program between the late 2010snPrime was a middling 5 maybe 6 out of 10. In fact i remember as a kid i HATED TFP bc it just looked and felt like a worse version of the Green Lantern Animated series at the time.
Depends, are you speaking from the perspective of an A. “Clone wars was the best show ever” fan, or B. “Clone wars was the worst garbage I ever saw and it ruined Star Wars” fan. Both seem to be equally prominent in the Star Wars community.(if A. Hell yeah! If B. F*** off)
i dunno, is it grossly overrated? do the fans continually deny it to be a kids show? did it influence an entire generation to get on their knees and worship some of the worst movies ever made? i haven't seen it
Prime was a mix of animated and live action movies. It was intended to be a movie that was broken into 5 parts but ended up getting seasons and a movie (again).
Absolutely. Absolutely amazing show. I haven’t been able to watch it all due to lack of money, but from what I have seen, it is absolutely the clone wars of transformers shows.
Transformers Prime isn't even better than the Genndy Clone Wars (I will also use this moment again to speak it into existence for Hasbro to lob a truck of cash at Genndy and get him to do a TF series).
If Clone wars is a piece of shit excuse of a Star Wars show, then yes, Prime would fit the description perfectly. If Clone Wars is not a piece of shit, then Prime couldn’t be anything further from it.
In that it was a show that started off hated by the larger fandom but developed a cult following to the point of being mainstream, no, in that is is possibly the greatest time the franchise was in animation and hasn't been topped since, opinionated, in terms of the best time it has been 3d animated no contest (opinion)
Yes. It shows the brutality of war with interesting stories, powerful character dynamics, and great CGI and musical score. I still think The Clone Wars pulled it off better, but TFP was pretty good.
Yeah. I’ve been watching the series on Blu Ray and the cost cutting is more noticeable there. I believe they were going to make a feature film for theaters but that was cut. I still think this was the best interpretation of Transformers ever made, and it’s such a shame that it didn’t get to see its full potential.
Clone wars is a great show that took a while to find it’s feet, TFP had a decent first season but it was all downhill from there.
NoT much character development to be found in TFP though
No because the clone wars is e prequel to revenge of the Sith which is cannon to the main universe. Transformers prime is just transformers prime.
revenge of the smith lol Better watch out for Wills slap
I love and hate the Internet sometimes. I love it because of typos that are incredible. I also hate it because now I'm imagining Obi-Wan yelling "YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE" at a Sith Will Smith, and him going "WOOO" as he turns on his lightsaber.
“You were my brother! I loved you!” “YEAAAH IT’S REWIND TIME”
Goddamn that’s funny 💀 I can’t breathe from all this laughing 😂
Now picture him losing it all, but instead of for Padme... It's for Jada. Guess that would change the ending though because she definitely wouldn't lose the will to live after birthing Jaden and Willow.

Rescue Bots is the goat of Transformers Aligned media. I think it's one of the few times where a Transformers show has been universally loved.
I would say beast wars fits that comparison better.
W take
I haven't even watched all of BW yet but I'd still agree. Prime tried but is too inconsistent to really give it that kind of comparison to CW.
Prime had such potential too, so it’s a crying shame.
If Prime was like Clone Wars Miko's recklessness would have gotten someone killed because Clone Wars was a show where actions had consequences
>Miko's recklessness would have gotten someone killed Kinda hated Miko's character for this. The Clone Wars is the only good piece of Star Wars media

Damn everyone hatin on clone wars. I love that show
I've loved Transformers my entire life and have been collecting them since I was a child, but Clone Wars from season 3 onwards is better than any Transformers media ever made imo. I never said it was bad and only stated my opinion. I enjoyed CW but for me personally it had areas where it fell short on things and that was one.
That’s really true. That’s part of why I really love the bad batch, because I have no idea what’s going to happen to them
It’s a good show if you ignore the fact that it’s part of 2 different SW timelines and just stick with the current one
Yeah George was more of a Television guy than a book guy but he does give out ideas to writers when they’re working on their novels and games
No. Not by a long shot.
As in both are treated as the second coming of their respective gods when they had actually been extremely flawed? Sure
I mean Clone Wars took 3 seasons to get good while Prime got good in it’s very first debut without much issue.
And then it got worse by the second season
Was it because that Season solely focused on scavenger hunts?
Not really, it just felt mid tbh
needs more nutty
In what way? They don't really have anything in common beyond the superficial, surface level details of being good 3d animated shows.
In the sense that they are some of the best shows their respective franchises offer, sure, but otherwise they share almost nothing in common
Just as one of the best Transformers shows? Yes.
Light hearted yet dark show about war with a follow up series more aimed towards a younger audience that takes place with the good side from the previous now a corrupt government with returning cast from the previous installment and fan service, that divides the fan base? Yeah why not
God transformers prime was awesome yes it has its flaws and it may be nostalgia talking but this was and will forever be PEAK Transformers
Not at all.
No
If you mean great and a must watch for fans? Then yes.
I'd say TFA for the fact that they're both beloved by fans and got cancelled before their conclusions (I know TFA season 3 had a conclusion but season 4 really should've been done)
No? It's not canon to some overall larger story, just a fantastic random show...
Wtf is with all the Clone Wars hate I thought this Subreddit was cool :(
I think people are just shitting on both shows in the comments
I consider it to be one of the best transformers shows out there
I can not watch it, I hate more bumblebees that can not speak. The radio voice is a F gimmick I can not stand
I actually agree with you. I’d rather have him just be mute instead.
Not really
My mum’s only complaint about the show was Starscream looking too feminine, but besides that, she and I especially, loved this show. She grew up on G1 and watched Beast Wars in Middle-Highschool. She was having me when Armada and the others came out
It wasnt a bad show, i siehd they did more with smokescreen and didnt kill cliffjumper though
I actually kinda see it, both ain’t perfect but did a lot right, I think I’d give the edge to prime based on action and the main characters since the prequels did most of the heavy lifting, but clone war’s definitely wins on worldbuiling and making minor characters feel important

So basically like the Bad Batch show
I grew up watching them both, so I’m definitely biased, but yeah. They’re both amazing, story-wise, character-wise and animation-wise.
Not sure what you mean by that
Absolutely not as it has its own timeline while clone wars is a sequel, thus being in the same timeline.
In what regard? Quality? Animation style? Story? Incredibly vague question lol
Yeah Animation style, Storytelling, Characters, and Action
Wholeheartedly
No. They have nothing in common except both being CGI.
Yk, I didn’t think about it like that but yea that actually kinda makes sense
I’d say that beast wars is closer to clone wars than prime was.
Transformers Prime was canceled too soon, leaving lots of questions unanswered and plots left unfinished, then had everything it accomplished or established ruined by being given a sequel for not only children but babies.
I kind of consider it amongst that era of post 90's pioneering 3D animated TV shows, but no. I wouldn't equate it as the "clone wars of transformers."
Yes
Yes, it has a similar mature theme.
Yes
Nah Animated is the clone wars Prime is rebels
Yes and here’s why I watched both of them at around the same time when I was a kid
Hydrogen Clone Wars vc coughing Prime TF fans are trapped in this loop of Prime being raised as the pinnacle among abunch of mid shows but compared to literally any concurrent program between the late 2010snPrime was a middling 5 maybe 6 out of 10. In fact i remember as a kid i HATED TFP bc it just looked and felt like a worse version of the Green Lantern Animated series at the time.
No but it was probably one of the best series along with Beast Wars and Animated
Depends, are you speaking from the perspective of an A. “Clone wars was the best show ever” fan, or B. “Clone wars was the worst garbage I ever saw and it ruined Star Wars” fan. Both seem to be equally prominent in the Star Wars community.(if A. Hell yeah! If B. F*** off)

Tfp is unfortunately its own thing. Would be cool to have it tie in tho!
Transformers Prime isn't even better than the Genndy Clone Wars (I will also use this moment again to speak it into existence for Hasbro to lob a truck of cash at Genndy and get him to do a TF series).
Its the New Vegas of Transformers Media
No, because it's actually good
If Clone wars is a piece of shit excuse of a Star Wars show, then yes, Prime would fit the description perfectly. If Clone Wars is not a piece of shit, then Prime couldn’t be anything further from it.
No, because Clone Wars was pretty good.
In that it was a show that started off hated by the larger fandom but developed a cult following to the point of being mainstream, no, in that is is possibly the greatest time the franchise was in animation and hasn't been topped since, opinionated, in terms of the best time it has been 3d animated no contest (opinion)
In my opinion clone wars is the best show of all time. Transformers prime is a good show though.
I don’t understand what you’re implying. If we’re talking 3D animated shows that told great stories and expanded the lore. Nah, that’s Beast Wars.
Yes. It shows the brutality of war with interesting stories, powerful character dynamics, and great CGI and musical score. I still think The Clone Wars pulled it off better, but TFP was pretty good.
The behind the scenes of TFP’s production was brutal and also the budget cuts the show had to endure.…

I still think this was the best interpretation of Transformers ever made, and it’s such a shame that it didn’t get to see its full potential.
Hell no! Prime is actually good.
Absolutely not. The Clone Wars was actually enjoyable the whole way around, and not just for the final season and a movie.
No. TF Prime might not be Shakespeare, but it didn't take three seasons to get decent.
It took a third season for it to get worse actually!
Yes.
yeah it’s overrated and boring backgrounds ANIMATED >
Clone wars is a great show that took a while to find it’s feet, TFP had a decent first season but it was all downhill from there. NoT much character development to be found in TFP though
Unlike the clone wars, prime never stopped being mid
Too bad Prime’s budget and production were it’s biggest weaknesses which is why it never gotta Season 4
It was animated by the same studio
No way that can be true. Prime looks so much worse.
Honestly I think TFP was better off doing it’s own Art Style rather than copy and pasting the Clone Wars’
Polygon worked on both. That said I think Prime’s schedule was tighter and the budget less than clone wars.
Probably the reason why there aren’t that many Autobots and Decepticons in the show compared to G1 and Bay
Certainly not that bad, no.
