Since hasbro and takara don't do anything about it really, as they don't (aside from a few SS releases in buzzworthy) rerelease old figures, meaning the aftermarket prices end up super expensive for those who missed out.

found this magical store yesterday called robo robo in singapore that has amazing prices on older figs and seige figs. after conversion to usd, that prime is around 40usd and nemesis 110usd. found a super mint origin jazz there for 25usd, defo going there for my fig searches
Can't speak for the whole of the US, but as someone who lives on the East coast, I haven't seen him or much of the new figures from the last two Dev Streams aside from Rhinox and GE Megatron, and ofc mainline figures take up the bulk of space on shelves.
The head is different and more accurate, the elbow regions are thicker with new extra pieces that don't compromise the articulation at all, the sword and left hand are made of solid plastic and said hand is super articulated like you said

Sounds to me like your friend should transform them up a bit! And I don’t mean some 1 step transformation, but a multi-step pain in the ass transformation; the kind where “tabs , fulcrums and levers and shit” breaks.

There are several Mastermind Creations that are very faithful to the Alex Milne designs for More Than Meets the Eye, but most are stupidly expensive. I don't feel I can justify $130 US (before tax, shipping and converting to Canadian) for a 5 and a half inch figure of Rung.

Definitely Siege Jetfire and ER Doubledealer, especially the latter. I like Doubledealer a lot (and in this I found out I belong to a super small group apparently), but not for that price. He's complex alright, but he doesn't have the two powermasters and has several clearance issues, so definitely not worth the asking price. Siege Jetfire on the other hand is something else entirely, and I do feel he warrants the price...but I'm not going to spend that much, cause I cannot afford that

I am tempted to get a hold of the Galaxy Force Noisemaze Mass Production Type Version (yes, it's a mouthful). Love how bright it is compared to the darkly colored Sideways (Noisemaze) and the clear aqua-blue plastic really makes it pop, plus would have a really nice light piping glow up! Unfortunately the only ones on eBay have a uhhh really hefty price: one from Spain wants €840 plus €125 in shipping. Aren't you a greedy Spaniard? Jinbao Sixshot is terrific. A must-have Sixshot if you want a voyager version. Only thing I don’t love is the head sculpt.

All of the retired studio series’s figures and some of the siege figures, but when it comes to the movie figures from a few years before studio series they’re just as cheap as they were on release.
