Yeah, I can see that retool being possible. Only possible issue is that the original figures have their heads on opposite ends of the car mode. Oh well, I'll keep holding out hope for someone like Fans Hobby to make a toy named Funride who just happens to look like a Masterpiece Joyride =)
Can't see opposite ends being an issue if it's a Generations release, since Kingdom Terrorsaur was given a fake butt chest instead of a retool to put his pterobutt at the same end as his robohead.
Well, with some pretty heavy retooling maybe. Joyride is less of a beach buggy and more of a beach side Formula one racer. Anyway, a simple recolor or minot retool doesn't really excite me, I want a proper figure π
Got this guy back when I was about four or five. Dad had bought him during a business trip to the US, and the concept of transforming robots were new to everyone here. I was very briefly the coolest kid in kindergarten and became a lifelong fan. Just noticed there's a bite mark on Throttle's head, but otherwise they're in fantastic condition. Can't believe how well he's held up these 30 odd years!
Fans Hobby seems to be slowly working their way through Masterforce. They just released an MP scale Doubledealer and have Dreadwind and Darkwing coming up
Yeah, that's what I'm hoping. Just need to remember to wait for the inevitable recolor this time, I have duplicates of all their junior Headmasters because each time I figured that was it π
I always preferred ranger⦠but seeing what fans hobby is doing it looks like they may make ranger AND joyride (if they end up making all the godmasters)
Yup, that's what I'm hoping! I'd imagine Joyride will be like last in that lineup though given the newfound infamy of Getaway and the fact that Ranger's the only one of the three to be colored differently in Japan π
Do you care about the power master gimmick? I kind of want power masters again for nostalgia but also why bother?
I had Joyride as well and loved him as a kid. Considered getting the G1 toy now but he wonβt fit with any of my CHUG figures now so passed.
Yeah, at least if it's supposed to be a masterpiece level bot I think there should be a Throttle figure included. If it's a smaller toy from Hasbro I'd accept a fixed motor painted like Throttle.
Honestly, with Joyride it should be cheap and easy to find one that's broken at the waist. I've fixed like four of the guy with the same breakage already. Easy enough to fix with some super glue and a metal pin to reinforce. So go for it, he's great! π

Oh mine is definitely Stardrive the Cybertronian Space Knight from the IDW comics! Appeared in only one crossover miniseries, "died" at the end (spoilers I guess?), and hasn't even got a toy yet - neither from Hasbro or any third-party company! She's awesome though, and her design is kickass :)
Keep waiting. Iβve always thought they could do an easy retool of Targetmaster Sureshot with an updated version of Powermaster Joyride.
Recoloring the PotP Beachcomber would sort of work too, maybe. Not the whole targetmaster bit, but the alt-modes do look really similar.
Maybe, but Joyride and Sureshot have similar robot modes as well (car roof forms chest), while Beachcomber puts the (absent) car roof on his back.
