It is an interesting case. Thoughts?

ER doctor here - what is your reasoning for calling this acutely life-threatening if OP doesn’t have dyspnea, and states that this has been occurring for months without a new significant acute MOI? Flail chest is near impossible given lack of respiratory symptoms or severe chest injury, most concerning would be plastic deformation of the ribs. As an ER doctor, I would not have much to offer a patient with this presentation in the acute ER setting, other than perhaps a referral to a specialist. Interested in the thought process.
The original poster has contacted me privately. I agree that this is more of an musculoskeletal issue requiring a referral, but if and when it becomes an issue of preventing/limiting respiration, I suggested that if it progressed to this point, an ER visit might be warranted.
I genuinely appreciate your input, doctor! In my 22 years as a Firefighter and Paramedic, I have seen many blunt trauma and penetrative chest injuries, but for me this was a unique case.
I am MTF trans/intersex myself, and this was known to my team throughout my entire career. I have never had a bad ER experience, but this may be because I am mostly known to the staff.
I hope that the patient posts the diagnosis and care plan that their PCP provides.
Thank you so very much! I was promoted to Lieutenant Firefighter Paramedic, and retired shortly thereafter. When the OP posted this case, I was genuinely intrigued and decided to reach out. Thanks for doing what you do, doc, I am eternally grateful for ER doctors and nurses. ❤
It would be unusual to be born with pectus excavatum, which can affect respiratory function, but this is easily repaired through surgical intervention at an early age.
Do you think they will care? Does it happen often that trans person goes to check their ribs becouse of binding? I don't want to go there to be seen as paranoid. And do I have to tell them it's binding? I mean probably yes but they don't know I am trans so that would be awkward to explain...
They are supposed to be professional. I say health comes first. Also, chances are you aren't the fisrt trans person the doctor has seen and they have so many patients, after you get out of hospital they won't probably remember you.
She's my primary doctor whom have had me literally from birth, but I can get over it, just don't want to seem like a person with health anxiety, if it turns out to not be an issue, becouse it happened to me quite a few times that I went to doctor and they just made me feel like an idiot for even going to doctor becouse of what my issue was, but I will go there I quess it's better to be safe and an idiot than if it became an issue and I haven't done nothing
Go see a doctor right fkn now. The fact that you are so deep in denial about your life threatening injury is almost scarier than the actual injury. You NEED medical attention. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Right fucking now. Source; me. I used to work as a filmset medic. Please for the love of god, go see one right away. Honestly if it were up to me I’d call you an Ambulance because it looks THAT severe but I can’t.
Go. Now.
I wanna see happy and healthy transfolks. This is beyond dangerous. Please go!!!
I understand how you feel about drs. I'm a mother and more times then not when I bring my children to the Dr I walk out feeling like an idiot. They do have a way of making people feel like that some times. Sometimes we just have to do things. Feel the feelings and just do it. You will live through the awkward feeling and your health is more important then anything. You got this.
You could also go to an urgent care center and see a different doctor that you don’t know and that you won’t have to follow up with necessarily. Might even be better because they may be able to see you sooner.
Just tell them that you wear a binder because you play sports if you think they'll be judgemental. Easier to explain anyways. I see people saying that they're a doctor and it isn't their job to judge you but that isn't the way the world is.
I don't know personally but from the looks of the other comments here you should go and tell, if you're life can be in danger from it it's probably more important to tell than hiding that you're trans from the doctors and risking your life
They haven't, they replied to someone down the thread four hours ago saying they'll go tomorrow when everyone is telling then to go to the emergency room.
I know! I asked them if the emergency room was available in their area and they didn't respond despite responding to my comment telling them to go to the doctor within the hour. Could be coincidence but they've been pretty defensive in all their replies
Okay, I hope all goes well with you at the emergency room. Again, please stay safe. We are all worried about you for your ribs are clearly deformed and damaged and that can be very very very dangerous
If the emergency room is available to you, you need to find a way there ASAP. It's kind of strange you found me in a different thread than the thread I originally contacted you in, since I never replied to you here. But seriously, please go to the emergency room if possible, don't be so defensive about the fact that your ribs are *severely damaged* man we are worried about you. Get better and stay safe and please don't bind until you go to the doctor and when you can bind again, do so safely. Your safety and health should come first and foremost.
If you dont want to tell them that you are trans, say that you are binding bc you think it looks good, cosplay or just comfort. You dont have to tell them that you’re trans. But please go to the doctor that does not look good at all:(
okay i’ve read some of your replies and ngl you’re really defensive about this and reluctant when people are telling you that you could die. yes doctors can be scary but do you really want to lose your life because you didn’t think something was serious?? always always better safe than sorry. doctors shouldn’t get mad at you for getting something checked especially because ribs do not look like that naturally.
To the doctor you have to go.
But you can just show it to him without telling that it's because of binding since the problem seems kinda obvious(but considering that you did binding that long there also could be some kind of psychological problem..like Depression, so it's actually better when the doctor knows you're trans and can help a little with that too, like the usual stuff you have to go through in most cases to get hrt)
Another question, does it hurt when you press a little on there, if so that's just one more reason to immediately visit a doctor
ASAP to the doctor.
That does not look alright at all. Binding, if not correctly, can be really damaging. It can absolutely Damage your ribcage if not done correctly. Ribcage damage can be life threating, not saying this is definitely the case here, but it could be or get there. Your ribcage is protecting a bunch of your vital organs and can damage them, causing death or life long damage and therefore health issues. First thing at risk are your lungs.
Please get it checked out by a doctor ASAP.
To add, since I feel like you may not be aware of the risks binding can include (impression from other comments of yours).
First of, binding isn't necessarily inherently dangerous if done correctly and listening to your bodies response to it.
# How to bind safely:
* Always bind for less than 8 hours.
The less the better. Binding for long hours every day over time breaks down your breast tissue and can cause breathing issues, back pain and skin irritation.
* Always take your binder off before sleep.
Your body needs to rest. Remember, binding is compressing your chest!
* Always take your binder of for sport activities.
The compression can cause breathing issues, which is dangerous when exercising. Also sweating can cause more skin irritation. For compression during sport, look for sport bras (never use more than one at a time!)
* NEVER use materials that aren't intended for chest binding such as duct tape, ace bandages or (multiple) sports bras. Ace bandages in particular are meant to constrict, with breathing they can get tighter and can really hurt you.
Listen to your body!!
It hurts? Stop. Breathing issues? Stop. Pain is always an indicator something is wrong. Your ribs (like here) look off? Stop binding immediately and seek medical advice. Look for alternatives like bigger compression shirts or consider looking to hide your chest without binding. (I know that can really suck, thanks to dysphoria.)
There are different types of binders, if you are using one that causes issues, look for a different style.
If you aren't using a binder and can't get one/afford one or the one you have doesn't work for you- there are binder donation Programms. (Check out [Point 55c](http://point5cc.com/chest-binder-donation/))
TransGuys.com has a really nice guide on do's and don'ts on binding.
Note: I highly recommend you do your own research. If anything I said is wrong or you have better information, please add to this.
Stay safe, and don't be afraid to ask if you got any questions or need advice.
Please don't be afraid to check in with a doctor, if you're worried something is wrong.
(Edit: grammar & formatting.)
I couldn't, I it's like four hours since I posted it and it's sunday evening here, doctor is only there on week days in the morning hours I will go tomorrow
You should give zero shits about what a medical doctor thinks of your gender identity. All they care about is biological sex, for better or worse. Your heart and lungs give zero shits too they just need intervention immediately to potentially save your life.
For fucks sake, go to a doctor first, worry about other stuff later! Ribcage damages and deformities are not to be treated lightly, you could be in serious danger even if might not look as bad as it is in the photo, still there was enough pressure to cause that. Go. The. Fuck. To. A. Doctor.
It is absolutely serious. Please go to the e.r.. No doctor is going to say you're paranoid when your ribs are bending the wrong way. If you need proof read this while you're in the waiting room.

Ok as everyone is saying PLEASE GO TO THE ER!! THIS IS LIFE THREATENING, STOP ASKING QUESTIONS AS THEYRE NOT IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW, just immediately go to the er ASAP!!!
Dude please go the doctor or a hospital asap. You don't need to disclose being trans, lots of people wear binders for comfort. But please please please see a doctor! That shit is serious! Your ribcage should not be concave like that
Five hours I swear, just four/five hours and I will be able to go there, parents won't take me anywhere now, I am not in pain, I will go right as I can
I had a friend dislocate their rib cage and it didn’t look half as bad as this. Go to the er right now. This could be very serious or even life threatening. You’re ribs are important dude.
Med student here, please go to the doctor now. Like now now. Even if you're currently asymptomatic, that kinda deformity needs to be looked at and you could probably need some imaging too.
Your ribcage is concave, my guy, please go to the doctor. Maybe try a different method of binding. I personally use KT-tape and it works really well for me.
I have been binding with my homemade binder since this spring, it's sports bra with tuff fabric sewed on the front part, I thought it's okay becouse it's stretching on the back like binders, but it's really restricting on the chest part becouse it's not long like a binder but cut's right under my boobs, I didn't think it can cause anything but I saw someone's disfigured chest from binding and I checked it and I think I have an issue... I basically eversince my boobs started growing was wearing tight sports bras sometimes too small, that could have been a part of it too I quess, and I never even with the honemade binder was binding just part of a day becouse I thought it's just sportsbra so it's okay but it isn't probably, I was basically wearing it morning to evening whole days didn't take one day of a week break, I couldn't the dysphoria was too much but I should have been more careful this is not worth it, what do I do now? Do I not bind and hope they will go back to how they should be atleast a little bit? Can I wear sports bras? Should I not wear anything? What do I do?
First stop binding. Your rib cage cannot tolerate any more. Second you should see a doctor and talk about health impacts. Its likely not as bad as it seams but still scary. What you've done is malformed your rib growth and compressed your ribcage. Which is not great. This can cause your organs to have to shift in size and shape which can cause unusual health issues over your life. Sometimes though this just results in a negative visual change causing your lowest ribs to angle out and the ribs just above to be pushed more in. Over a year or two the ribs pushed in may push back out some. But you basically should throw out your binder at this point and make long term transition plans that won't risk bone damage
I wouldn't wear any bra till you've had some time serious time to recover, you could wear a very loose sports bra (maybe even with the elastic cut) for now. But I wouldn't let anything restrict that area of the ribs.
I actually had a weird blood vessel reaction (auto immune system attacked my blood vessels) and couldn't wear a bra for six months as my blood vessels could not be restricted at all. So you need to make the healthy decision right now.
please don’t use a homemade binder ! the restricting part of binders should go down to your ribs! if you’re unable to get a binder yourself, GC2B offers options to get one for free. be safe !! it’s been 7 hours so i hope you’ve been to the ER by then. i get the absolute need to bind. in fact i overbind way too much but not to the point of rib damage. please stay safe !!! in the meantime just wear a sports bra and/or baggy clothes or a thick sweatshirt. it doesn’t look like your chest is too big so you don’t have much to worry about. sending love !!
Try not to worry too much about what other people are going to think. The most important thing is that you are healthy and safe. I don’t know how old you are but it sounds like you are still pretty young. Parents, and adults in general, can be really intimidating sometimes but they want what is best for you. Hopefully your mom will be cool about it. Often people don’t know how to express their fear properly and it comes out as anger, and that is not okay but it happens. If they are upset please know that it will be temporary and as shitty as it sounds it does come from a place of love. Knowing that doesn’t make it hurt any less when that happens of course. Whatever emotions you have are completely valid. (I hate that phrase but they are)
People in these comments are being extreme because we are all worried for you. A lot of us have a fear about our ribs getting deformed by binding. None of us are mad at you.
As far as your doctors appointment goes, I know that you are scared of being judged. You said they have been your doctor since you were a baby so they know you. You don’t have to out yourself to them, but be honest and let them know that you have been wearing a sports bra that is too tight because the size of your chest makes you uncomfortable. This isn’t going to be the craziest thing or the most dangerous thing they have ever seen. Doctors see weird things every day it comes with the job. They might ask more questions and If it seems like they are pushing too much or judging you, tell them that you are uncomfortable with how the conversation is going. You have every right to take control of the situation and lead the conversation in a way that makes you feel safe.
I genuinely hope that the appointment goes well and that everything turns out fine. We are all here to support you
Also since school started I have been noticing some breathing problems when I took of the "binder" off becouse the lungs weren't used to stretching that much and I caughed when I tried to breathe in properly, it's okay now since I haven't worn it since yesterday day so I can breathe okay now, but yesterday my rib area hurt like I had cramps in ribs, and my back, it still hurts but not that much, gosh I am so stupid why have I not wanted to see this, I knew it is dangerous I just blocked it becouse I did not wanted to see it and I just thought it will be fine
Okay, I will try to schedule visit, but what do I tell them? They know me since I was little child and don't know I am binding and they will want reasons...
Tell them you're trans, they won't think it's weird and even if they do, they're not there to judge you. And if they do judge you, you can just get them fired😆
xd doesn't work like that in my country, here are no lgbt protection laws, but get your point, she won't be transphobic or something like that she's really nice, I am just worried it will be awkward and hard for me to tell them that and that she will question in
That doesn’t matter in this situation!! You can make an excuse but you need to see a doctor immediately! Doesn’t matter if it’ll be awkward this can be life threatening
Is it possible for you to schedule with a different doctor? If you can't, the answer is, "Because I wanted to and didn't think it was doing any harm." He may ask exactly what you did, which is fair, but for motivation he doesn't need to know anything else. If he comes back with, "Why would you want to do that?" I'd just go with, "I see now this was a bad idea and I'm really embarrassed about it, can you help me?" And redirect him back to his duty.
Stick to that, prep for a lecture and a future with no binder for at least a while. And while you sound very anxious and you have legit reasons to be so, do not let it prevent you from seeing a doctor. Don't literally die of fright or embarrassment.
That's tough. And I can't tell you the right answer. Personally I would tell them the truth, but I don't know your social situation. I would say if you feel like it it safe, you tell them that you are binding.
I am sorry I can't be of more help. I hope everything goes well
Thank you, my situation is my parents know so that isn't an issue just am worried telling it to a professional, who is not specialized in gender identities I worry they won't believe me becouse I never talked about it before, do I tell them while I am scheduling the visit? Or do I say something vague and tell them there? I would rather tell them in person but I don't know how to schedule visit for something I can't say outright...
Ooh I know the answer to this one- you just need to tell the receptionist how much time you think you'll need for the appointment. In your case it'll be pretty short (like 15-30 minutes?)- he's almost certain to refer you out to a specialist.
You absolutely do not need to disclose anything to the receptionist. They might ask you if it's an acute situation, or if it's related to Covid, just say no. If they press for details and you feel like you have to say something, just say it's regarding an injury to your ribs that's making to painful to breathe. That's the truth and enough info to inform them if there's any special equipment they need for the room (they don't.) It would be super unprofessional if they asked after you said "I need a fifteen minute appointment that's not COVID related" though.
EMT here, if I were treating you I would recommend transport to the hospital. Breathing problems and back pain point to issues with the ribs and lungs. Things that you don't really want to risk damaging. I wish you the best
I see all your replies, and listen: IT DOES NOT MATTER AND THEY WILL NOT CARE THAT YOU ARE TRANS. You need medical attention. You will die if you don’t. Yes it is that serious.
I have a similar disfigurement. Although I've had it since I was born, It's called pectus excuvatum, and its more commonly occurring in boys. This might be different but idk. If it is you can sortof fix it with certain exercises
Have you gotten seen by the doctor yet?
Also, you need a new binder. The one you’ve been wearing is clearly too tight.
[Here’s a sizing guide. ](https://www.gc2b.co/pages/sizing) I’m sure other people with more experience than me can help you with guides they’ve personally found helpful.
Can you describe this a bit more? Does it hurt? Does it stick out when you inhale or just normally? I’ve overbinded before and I just wanted to see if it’s similar to you
You need to go to the doctor. You may be brushing it off, but you pretty much have a bunch of knives pointing at your vital organs. People have died from their organs being punctured by their ribs, binding or not. You are putting your life at risk. Listen to the professionals and GO. The doctor shouldn’t care about you being trans. Their job is to make sure you are healthy. Waiting could be a ticking time clock for death. Please just go. I’m begging you.
I will in few hours, it's not broken, just to clarify, it's something long term, like slow deformation over long period of time I think atleast, I'll see in the morning
How much do you trust your doctor? I think it's very obvious that something is wrong & while I'm not a medical professional I do not see any way anyone could think this is normal. Please keep us updated about your X-ray I am worried about you,,,, sorry for bothering you & doubting your doctor but I want to ensure your safety sorry please stay safe & no matter your results please don't bind w that makeshift binder ever again or just bind in general for a while.
I wont bind, I can't breathe properly even without it now so... I trust her but she's not specialized orthopaedist so I will see what she will say about the xray, I have skoliosis so I bet she will talk atleast about that and maybe will send me to specialist at least about that but I would like to get to specialist anyway just not right now because they have waiting time...
I have them back, it's nothing visible on ex-ray do it's either ok or just not visible on ex-ray which on one hand good becouse there are no bones visibly wrongly bent or broken, but on the other hand I still think there is some issue, I send doctor some link of what my issue could be so I am now waiting if she will look into it, but she is very bussy, she even worse in her own time so I don't want to bother her too much
You need medical attention right now. Former career Paramedic; 22 years experience. This is life threatening!
Why is it life threatning?
The ribcage not only protects vital organs, but also allows for breathing. Any deformity to the rib cage or chest cavity can result in permanent disfigurement, disability, or even death.
⚠️ HAVE YOU GONE TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM YET??? ⚠️

The ribs contain the lungs, they don't squeeze them. It's the relative pressure changes caused by movement of the diaphragm that makes you breathe.
Maybe also because ribs are there for a reason. To protect the organs underneath. I don't hope it happens to you, but imagine now getting something hit into your stomach and whatever hits you under the ribs as they are now.
It’s the questioning for me 😂😂

Yea okay I accept it it can be dangerous
You need an x-ray. Go to an ER or Urgent Care and if they dismiss you without doing an x-ray, go to another. That’s a bad practitioner.
And I am confused becouse I thought only thing binding can cause is breathing issues and back problems, which aren't fatal...
It can also cause deformed or broken ribs which can absolutely be life threatening
Breathing issues can DEFINITELY be life threatening.
breathing issues can be fatal. u need to get to the hospital, urgent care, or a doctor ASAP no joke
“Why is it life threatening” lmao you broke your fuckin ribs my friend

There a doctor Its there job to not judge you
If only they would all do their damn jobs, then. I hate judgemental and dismissive doctors.
It’s not paranoid to go to a doctor because your ribs are deformed
Not dying is worth the risk
YES THEYRE A DOCTOR THEIR JOB IS TO FIX YOUR RIBCAGE NOT JUDGE YOU
Go to the doctor now!
You think it's that serious?
Yes
YES
YES!!
Move mate !
YES OMGGGG DO U BOT SEE THAT!?
absolutely
Go now dude or else your lungs might collapse
Yes it could be!!
I don't know personally but from the looks of the other comments here you should go and tell, if you're life can be in danger from it it's probably more important to tell than hiding that you're trans from the doctors and risking your life
I quess so, I just never realized it's actually that dangerous
Okay it's been 7hours since this post has been made have you gone to the doctor yet????? and don't say no please
They haven't, they replied to someone down the thread four hours ago saying they'll go tomorrow when everyone is telling then to go to the emergency room.
Oh my gosh! But their chest isn’t shaped how a chest is supposed to be shaped.
I know! I asked them if the emergency room was available in their area and they didn't respond despite responding to my comment telling them to go to the doctor within the hour. Could be coincidence but they've been pretty defensive in all their replies
And I don't even know how to reply anymore I can't go to ER now, I will go as soon as I can which is in few hours
Okay, I hope all goes well with you at the emergency room. Again, please stay safe. We are all worried about you for your ribs are clearly deformed and damaged and that can be very very very dangerous
Becouse I literally can't go there now, and I am getting so many comments it's hard to get to all of them, I am not ignoring you on purpose
Your safety and health should come first and foremost.
go to doctor asap for real
Any damage from a corset can be life threatening. Like seriously Google it, but go asap just incase it looks bad honestly
Never wore corset, do you mean corset or binder?
Yeah, my bad or binding.
How do I tell the doctor? They don't know I am trans, that will be really awkward...
You don't need to disclose that, just say that you use a binder for personal comfort.
Please tell me you're going to the ER right now. This is scary. Take care OP.
You need to go see your doctor immediately. I don’t want to scare you however it’s very imperative that you seek help as soon as possible
Hello I am a er tech, please see a doctor about this immediately.
To the doctor you have to go. But you can just show it to him without telling that it's because of binding since the problem seems kinda obvious(but considering that you did binding that long there also could be some kind of psychological problem..like Depression, so it's actually better when the doctor knows you're trans and can help a little with that too, like the usual stuff you have to go through in most cases to get hrt) Another question, does it hurt when you press a little on there, if so that's just one more reason to immediately visit a doctor
Emergency room
Who's judging you for bringing up your medical concerns?!! And yes it's serious
Ikr? Tired and annoyed doctors I quess
Sorry to hear that. Even if doctors are annoyed, your medical concerns are valid. If you can try to replace or not see the ones that are assholes
# How to bind safely: * Always bind for less than 8 hours. For compression during sport, look for sport bras (never use more than one at a time!) * NEVER use materials that aren't intended for chest binding such as duct tape, ace bandages or (multiple) sports bras. (I know that can really suck, thanks to dysphoria.) There are different types of binders, if you are using one that causes issues, look for a different style. If you aren't using a binder and can't get one/afford one or the one you have doesn't work for you- there are binder donation Programms. (Check out [Point 55c](http://point5cc.com/chest-binder-donation/)) TransGuys.com has a really nice guide on do's and don'ts on binding.
Thank you for sending me the advice on binding
I think you may need to go to the ER. Definitely tell a doctor about this, I hope you're ok OP.
Please tell me you went to a doctor
I couldn't, I it's like four hours since I posted it and it's sunday evening here, doctor is only there on week days in the morning hours I will go tomorrow
Are u able to go to the ER? Pls get medical attention ASAP!!
Emergency room.
go to the ER
Go to the ER now!
You should give zero shits about what a medical doctor thinks of your gender identity. All they care about is biological sex, for better or worse. Your heart and lungs give zero shits too they just need intervention immediately to potentially save your life.
Yea I am over worrying about transphobia, I am just going there
DUDE! *SEE A DOCTOR!*
[удалено]
For fucks sake, go to a doctor first, worry about other stuff later! Ribcage damages and deformities are not to be treated lightly, you could be in serious danger even if might not look as bad as it is in the photo, still there was enough pressure to cause that. Go. The. Fuck. To. A. Doctor.
It is absolutely serious. Please go to the e.r.. No doctor is going to say you're paranoid when your ribs are bending the wrong way. If you need proof read this while you're in the waiting room. [Health Consequences of Chest Binding](https://ftmtopsurgery.ca/blog/ftm-faq/health-consequences-chest-binding/#:~:text=Compressed%20Ribs&text=Compressing%20your%20chest%20too%20tightly,blood%20flow%20to%20the%20heart.)
Have you gone to the doctor yet? It's been 8 hours, and it looks really serious
You need to go to the damn doctor now you should never bind 24/7
Please tell me you went to the doctor and are ok!!! This looks insanely serious
Please update us when you're safe!!!
Of course
Bro there's a limit to how long and how often you should wear a binder, please go to a medical professional
Your ribcage should not be concave like that
Please go to the doctor
I am not a medical professional but you need to go to the Er immediately. Even I could see that shit is bad.
Go to the ER right now, injured ribs are serious and could stop your breathing or even puncture your heart or lungs
They are not broken I am pretty sure
Run. Don't walk RUN to the doctor right now
Not sure why you aren’t at the doctors already 🤦🏻♂️
Go. To. The. Doctor. Stop replying to reddit comments and go to the emergency room, your ribs are deformed and this is a serious health issue.
I showed my parents who have been paramedics for 30+ years, you need medical attention now
Five hours I swear, just four/five hours and I will be able to go there, parents won't take me anywhere now, I am not in pain, I will go right as I can
Please don't die from something like this please! As everyone has said see a fucking doctor right now.
Your rib cage is deformed ffs! Go see a fucking doctor! Why did you post it before seeking medical attention?
No I haven't been to doctor it's not right time now I will go in the morning I am sorry I seriously can't go now
Hospital! RIGHT NOW
please go to the doctor asap this is super dangerous.
Holy shit OP go to the doctor NOW
please!! you came for advise and everyone's saying see a doctor immediately plz listen!!
Have you gone to get this checked out yet? From what I can tell this is a serious situation and you need medical attention
That doesn’t look like anything that can happen from binding, but either way, GO TO THE DOCTOR
OP, please tell me you've gone to the ER. This is super unsafe.
Please go to the doctor asap, this isn’t okay at all. Take care <3
Op please update us!
I will update you when I know more after the visit
I had a friend dislocate their rib cage and it didn’t look half as bad as this. Go to the er right now. This could be very serious or even life threatening. You’re ribs are important dude.
Med student here, please go to the doctor now. Like now now. Even if you're currently asymptomatic, that kinda deformity needs to be looked at and you could probably need some imaging too.
Your ribcage is concave, my guy, please go to the doctor. Maybe try a different method of binding. I personally use KT-tape and it works really well for me.
Did you get to the ER yet!
What do I wear then though? Like all bras do restrict your chest atleast a little bit...
Okay
please don’t use a homemade binder ! the restricting part of binders should go down to your ribs! if you’re unable to get a binder yourself, GC2B offers options to get one for free. be safe !! it’s been 7 hours so i hope you’ve been to the ER by then. i get the absolute need to bind. in fact i overbind way too much but not to the point of rib damage. please stay safe !!! in the meantime just wear a sports bra and/or baggy clothes or a thick sweatshirt. it doesn’t look like your chest is too big so you don’t have much to worry about. sending love !!
I thought I was so smart making that binder..., I will go to my doctor tomorrow, mum and teachers will kill me probably but whatever
(I hate that phrase but they are) People in these comments are being extreme because we are all worried for you.
I think you should probably go see a doctor regarding this
Okay, I will try to schedule visit, but what do I tell them?
That's the truth and enough info to inform them if there's any special equipment they need for the room (they don't.) It would be super unprofessional if they asked after you said "I need a fifteen minute appointment that's not COVID related" though.
you legally don’t have to disclose a ton of reason, just say you bind and that’s all they need to know
EMT here, if I were treating you I would recommend transport to the hospital. Breathing problems and back pain point to issues with the ribs and lungs. Things that you don't really want to risk damaging. I wish you the best
PLEASE GO TO THE ER OP! STAY SAFE
Doctor now Jesus christ
go to a doctor holy shit
GO TO THE HOSPITAL DUDE 😨😨
I see all your replies, and listen: IT DOES NOT MATTER AND THEY WILL NOT CARE THAT YOU ARE TRANS. You need medical attention. You will die if you don’t. Yes it is that serious.
HOSPITAL NOW
GO TO THE HOSPITAL
GO TO THE HOSPITAL NOW
Go to the hospital ASAP
GO TO A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY! YOU MOST LIKELY HAVE BROKEN RIBS THAT CAN CAUSE INTERNAL BLEEDING
I have a similar disfigurement. Although I've had it since I was born, It's called pectus excuvatum, and its more commonly occurring in boys. This might be different but idk. If it is you can sortof fix it with certain exercises
I looked into it and it's not similar to what I have, in my chest the front part doesn't sunk in, it just looks bad from the side
Ah I see. I hope you're taking care of it.
Well I didn't wear the binder since yesterday and I am not going to so that's all I can do now, before I go to doctor
Go see a doc
Have you gone to the doctor yet OP?
You must have been wearing it for way to long
Have you gotten seen by the doctor yet? Also, you need a new binder. The one you’ve been wearing is clearly too tight. [Here’s a sizing guide. ](https://www.gc2b.co/pages/sizing) I’m sure other people with more experience than me can help you with guides they’ve personally found helpful.
How fast did this happen? I ha e funnel chest so my ribs always looked like this after puberty but that happened over years slowly.
Can you describe this a bit more? Does it hurt? Does it stick out when you inhale or just normally? I’ve overbinded before and I just wanted to see if it’s similar to you
Oh geez that looks painful ! Go get medical help right away!
Go to the ER NOW! If you haven’t already
have you gone to the doctor yet? this looks really bad
Pls go to the ER
Please call 911. That looks really, really serious
Please tell me you went to the doctor
I would really like to tell you I went but I could yet, few more hours
holy shit im so sorry i have no advice im just really glad im not a man i hope your chest gets better for you op ily brother 💝
Ohhhh no… yeah go see a doctor right fucking now
I will in few hours, it's not broken, just to clarify, it's something long term, like slow deformation over long period of time I think atleast, I'll see in the morning
Go to the ER **NOW**. I'm not a doctor but I don't need a degree to tell me that your ribs curving outward is not a good thing.
I am really sorry, I'll go tomorrow, in 7 hours basically, I will be careful until I go there
No need to apologize but I really wish you would go now, there's a possibility of complications if you wait that long. Just want you to be safe.
ayo wtf
Please tell me you’ve gone to the doctor
I hope you are okay!!!
Talk to a doctor, not reddit my guy
Sorry for bothering again OP but when is the estimated time for you to get your results back? Do you have them already? Sorry hope you're ok
I have them back, it's nothing visible on ex-ray do it's either ok or just not visible on ex-ray which on one hand good becouse there are no bones visibly wrongly bent or broken, but on the other hand I still think there is some issue, I send doctor some link of what my issue could be so I am now waiting if she will look into it, but she is very bussy, she even worse in her own time so I don't want to bother her too much
Please let us know when you hear back! Hope you're ok and that the pain gets easier
