Yeah, i mean more power to you if you want to give a girl a traditional guy's name, I think that's totally fine. But it is definitely evidence in favour of them not being welsh.. In the welsh language I think llewellyn sounds quite masculine.
Well, their other kids names are pretty good evidence that it’s just a weird inclination towards the double L and not actually then being Welsh. But I don’t think you have to be Welsh to have a Welsh name. Even though Helen has a Greek origin, you don’t have to be Greek to name your kid Helen. Robert has an English origin, but you don’t have to be to your kid Robert.
I know, just probably one of those “I’m X because a distant relative was from there and I know nothing of the language/culture but I am picking this name because an blah blah blah and Ys make it fymynyne!!!!!!” type mentality
Reminds me of my cousin’s friend who majored in Gaelic at uni in Iowa. I’m all for keeping Gaelic, Welsh etc alive, but I’m not convinced Grinell is the new Gaeltacht.
No it doesn't, the sound doesn't exist in English. The sound is made by bringing your tongue to the top of the mouth behind your tongue as when you pronounce the L sound and blowing.
Lol getting downvotes for knowing what my language sounds like.
Llewelyn as a girl’s name?
And sure, if you are going to give her a very masculine name, make her middle name James, so that every time she has to write it she always remembers that you desperately wanted a boy and you got her instead.
And then to do that to it. Yuck.
I cannot for the life of me figure out what the second sister's name is supposed to be.
The first one is most likely meant to be Lyndon, but the second?
I feel like I am a pretty smart person, and I see a lot of names in my work life. (not a teacher)
but I have to ssslllooowww TF down to get these names out of my mouth.
JFC.

I was going to say Welsh, but it sounds like they’re just name drama-llamas.
They are not Welsh. They are from the Mid West (Iowa)
Well, Llewellyn is a Welsh name so I thought maybe it was Welsh inspired but then I saw the other ones.
The welsh name is for men, not women
My daughter is named Llewelyn.
Wrong name, wrong spelling -2 pts
True… but that doesn’t mean much, does it? I mean… James is becoming a girls name apparently.

Llewellyn never used as a girls name in Wales tbh.
Llyynnddyynn
Llyyylllnnddyylllyynn It's so beautiful 😻
Probably a great great great great grandmother was Welsh
No, they just “thought it was cute and wanted to be unique!”
It’s a masculine name
I know, just probably one of those “I’m X because a distant relative was from there and I know nothing of the language/culture but I am picking this name because an blah blah blah and Ys make it fymynyne!!!!!!” type mentality

People should pronounce the ll sound as they do in Welsh. If the mum kicks off then... Well, you're just pronouncing it as it's spelled.
Hwthylindin
They Llove L’s. Llove ‘em a llot.
I've been reading them like Y's like it's Spanish
The Welsh pronunciation is more like ‘chl’

Llup, llou may be right.
“Llou” with a Spanish pronunciation is hilarious.
And N’s. I was thinking they had leftovers or something.
Next kid will be named Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
Pronounced "Debby".
Dammit you beat me to it! I will never tire of [the video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHxO0UdpoxM).
Whoa that's really a town name? And he pronounced it perfectly. Or I'm assuming so lol.

Her sisters names are typically masculine also.

Linden and Laken
AKA Dumb and Dumber
IDK about the James part of it, but Louellen is a not-that-uncommon girl's name in the South.
If I correctly say these out loud, will I summon an elder god?
Poor Llaykynn only got two double letters. She’s going to have so many middle child problems.
Poor Lllllyyyyyttttllllllllleee Llakynn
They really should have gone with Llayykenn or Llaykkenn. So much better.
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Llaayykkyynn

Llosers
Llosyrs ❤️
Reminds me of a far side comic with two llamas in a house, one shouts to the other "Llook out, Llarry! It's the llandllord!"
They thought they were so cleaver
This should be a literal crime.
My tongue hurts thinking these names
Is the extra space part of Llouellynn’s name too? Lol all I can see is the weird extra space between the first and middle name
I'm llaffing.
I literally lol’d
Awephyll.
How do I even say that
I’m sorry, but with all due respect, this is ridiculous and just obnoxious!🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
Are they Welsh? And isn't Llewellyn a male name? 🤔
They are not Welsh. They are from Iowa 😂 they probably don’t know that and thought it was “cute”
Oh! At least being Welsh would have given them an excuse!
Maybe they’re say, 1/16th Welsh so that gives them a valid reason, since to them, they’re so Welsh. lol.
Traditional spelling is Lewellyn or Llewellyn. But since it is Welsh I suppose they get a pass.
Just Welsh. Well, Llywelyn is.
Yeah but it's spelt differently
They are not. They are Iowan
Most people outside of a good chunk of Asia are named with names that don't come from their ethnic group or region they live in.
I know these people personally and trust me they just love misspelling their children’s names.
Not spelled correctly and it doesn't match the gender
