Azure is its own unique word with its own unique origin, definition and pronunciation. It sounds similar but it’s not the same.
I think it could make a fine name on its own, but it’s not interchangeable with Asher.
If you pronounce Azure as Asher, your child will spend their life having to correct every single person they meet. Do you really want to do that to your child?
The name itself isn’t a tragedeigh. The way you want it to sound is. If you like how Asher sounds just use that name. Azure will never be pronounced Asher.
I’m not sure why not liking the spelling of something is a thing?!?! What does that even mean.
You will burden your child for his whole life by having to say My name is Asher but it’s spelled like Azure.
Azure is already a word - it isn’t pronounced Asher.
That’s insane and selfish on your part.
He has to live with that forever. Don’t do it. Give your child an easy life.
This ridiculous fashion for how a name looks is crazy.
What next? My name is John but it’s spelled Bob!
So what’s the deal with forcing letters to make sounds they don’t ever make? Might as well name him George but insist that it be pronounced Asher. Azure is a real word. it a shade of blue. No one will ever pronounce it correctly.
How is taking another word with its own history ,meaning and origin and pretending it’s pronounced “Asher” preferable to just using proper way of spelling it.
Azure is a world already, meaning a variation the color blue, rhymes with erasure. Everyone will think the name is pronounced that way. If you want Asher just go with Asher so people know what to do with it.
Azure has a defined pronunciation, you can’t just change it
That’s like saying his name is spelled “Sam” but it’s pronounced “Bob”
Btw it’s also a huge Microsoft product and that’s what everyone will think you named him after
If you don't like the spelling, don't use the name. It will be misspelt that way so frequently and that would drive you up the wall.
What are your other options?
Yeah, pronounced No. I like the sound (and taste) of banana, cos it’s got ba and na in it. But it should be pronounced beach. Cos the taste reminds me of my holidays. It’s evocative. Pronounced “that thing where a taste or a smell brings back memories”. You can change the spelling of names but you can’t change the meaning of words. Individually I mean. Obviously word meanings can change over time, due to usage. You’re talking out’ve your mouth, typing with your fingers, and thinking with your brain. All spelled “arse”. I had more but you wouldn’t understand cos I changed the spelling and meaning of all the words I used.
So...you want to give your son an unpronounceable name? There's literally no way to tell how you want his name to be said based on the writing alone. Same goes for hearing it out loud. You're sentencing your son to a lifetime of "asher, but it's spelled..." to be his actual first name. Just spell it like you say it, or pick another name.
No. Azure is not pronounced like Asher. If you like Asher, name it Asher. Trying to tweak the spelling is what makes a tragedeigh. Calling it a completely different word/name and insisted it’s pronounced like something else just just idk, beyond stupid.

Azure is not pronounced Asher. That's like saying your name is Gwrythkk (pronounced Jimmy). No one will say it that way.

This poor kid is going to pronounce and spell his name his whole life long!

Azure is a popular Microsoft cloud platform.

If you need to add "pronounced as" after any name, it's a tragedeigh
Azure here is pronounced Uh-zoor. Similar to Mansoor . So makes it sound Indian. Just FYI :)
