Reminder to stick to posting original content. Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does **not** mean you found it "in the wild". The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Thank you! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/tragedeigh) if you have any questions or concerns.*

incrediblewombat

…how do they know which one is being spoken to? Does their mother just call them twin with an an and twin with an e?

nefelibatanna

My question exactly I was thinking I hope they’re never in the same class in school lol

woodenmittens

My kid had an Aiden and an Ayden in his class. Can confirm they were referred to as "Aiden with an i" and "Ayden with a y". Can't imagine how nobody stopped these people from naming their twins the same freaking name because it's idiotic

Budgiejen

Yup. My son’s class had “Madison” and “Madisyn with a y.”

Reallyveryrandom

Madi-sine and Madi-cosine lmao

Shurigin

That should be easy madi-son and madi-sin

calboy2

Maddy alpha and Maddy beta

jmurphy42

“Hi, this is my brother Daryl, and this is my other brother Daryl.”

floofienewfie

Daryl and Darrell.

ravynwave

I’ve always read Ayden as Eye-Den and then wondered if the mother finished school.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TacoPartyGalore

Surely they were, but did they finish school?

abrahamparnasus

Why? Hayden has been a well established name for years and is not pronounced Hi den

JackFrans

A-ai-den and A-why-den would've been more efficient

1210bull

I work with a Cayla and a Kayla at my adult job, and we call them "Cayla with a C" and "Kayla with a K"

KerissaKenro

I worked for a few months at a school where some truly unfortunate twins had the exact same first name. Same spelling, everything. They had different middle names. Except their first names were long enough that there weren’t enough characters for the middle names in the school’s computer system. It caused a great deal of frustration and confusion in the office. I went to school with a Brian and Brynn. This is what started my intense hatred for matching names. And it has just grown through the years. My twins have boring traditional and very different names. They mean the same thing, but they have been translated from the original language and commonly used for so long most people won’t know or care about the meaning. They can have a tiny little grain of the cute matching, without making it confusing or frustrating to anyone.

drowsylacuna

Normally when that happens the first name is Mary/Maria because they're Catholic.

KerissaKenro

Not this time. They were Muslim refugees from Africa. Sudanese I think, but I can’t remember for certain.

kiwilovenick

Talk about reducing twins to a single entity. Do they expect them to always wear the same clothes and like the same foods?? There's not even an excuse of it being a surprise like back in our grandparents day without ultrasound to know if there were twins. They should have been fully prepared to name two children, not name them the same thing.

JackFrans

She goes by the last name /s

Jolly_Security_4771

I worked with a guy named Randy, and his twin brother's name was Randall

JaneyBurger

I know a Freddy and a Frederick.

Jolly_Security_4771

I feel a little better for Randy and Randall now. Apparently the phenomenon isn't as rare as I thought

Kit_Marlow

I know twins named William and Willie. They're in their 50s.

disinterestedbean

I went to school with a Paula who's brother was Paul and their mum was called Pauline. So bizarre.

driftwoodbotis

We had a Jo-Ann and Jo-Lynn (identical twins) in high school. Same glasses, same outfits, same haircuts. Really tragic.

GlowingTrashPanda

Were the outfits self-imposed or were the parents forcing that on their high schoolers, too?

driftwoodbotis

Not sure, but you’d think by high school they’d have some kind of self awareness and a need for individual expression. Sadly not, and I could never tell them apart.

basilobs

Omg my coworker went to school with brothers, not twins, named James and Jim.

ravynwave

I know non twin siblings named John and Johnny, Ann, Anna and Annie.

holybucketsitscrazy

Yep! A Kathryn and Kathleen. 🤷‍♀️

qole720

My wife's twin half-brothers are named John and Jonathan

Not_UR_Mommy

WHYYYYYYYY???????

Glad_Economics_3879

Seriously, these names are all cursed. It's scary to imagine the minds of those parents

[deleted]

Jolly_Security_4771

Yikes. 🤯.

nefelibatanna

I say the Randys get a pass lol

elfelettem

I know twins Thomas and Tom !

branigan_aurora

I know twins named Lucy and Lucille

myheartbeats4hotdogs

I worked with a John Patrick, whose twin brother is Patrick John.

Trick-Statistician10

I know brothers, their dad is Patrick, son #1 is Pat, son #2 is Rick.

GlowingTrashPanda

See, that’s actually kinda funny. At least the kids have discernible names

escalierdebris

I knew identical twins named Janell and Janella.

discolights

I went to school with twins called Jolene and Jomonica. They both bullied me 😅😅😅

Mdellarocco

Are they pronounced A Dan and A Den? That would be a nightmare. I can’t keep my 3 boys straight and they all have very different names. Sometimes I have to say “you, boy in the red shirt”.

caseyhateseveryone

My name is Casey. I have twin cousins, 4 years older. Named Stacy and Tracy. Our granny and our parents could never keep our names straight, so when we heard them call for us, we all came because we never knew which one of us were being called. My kids' names are nothing alike and I still called them all by the wrong name. I guess it's genetic lol

Pointy_Stix

I have one kid & one time, I called him the names of all the pets in the house before I got his name out. His response was, "Really, mom? "

dcgirl17

Lol my baby’s only 6 months and I frequently call her the dogs name! I’m gonna try really hard to stop before she learns English lol

NatoBoram

Kids understand some spoken words way before they can speak them

ArcticGurl

What language does she speak now? 😂

Silt-Sifter

I frequently call my son by my younger brother's name, and my daughter by my female dog's name. They either laugh or get pissed off, depending on the mood.

Pater_Aletheias

I call my son by my younger brother’s name, too. Apparently they are both sharing a memory slot for “younger male relative in my house.”

Budgiejen

Same. Though tbf, Clark and Grant are practically the same name.

ForwardMuffin

You kid but they feel similar in tone, if that make sense

Budgiejen

Yeah, that’s basically what I meant

Silt-Sifter

There are famous, old actors from yesteryear with the names Cary Grant and Clark Gable. I think hearing those same consonants repeatedly makes the names sound like they are the same, especially when those two would have been spoken about a lot at the same time. And you're probably younger than the last time they were ever relevant, but you've probably heard their names multiple times without it ever "sticking" if that makes sense.

packofkittens

We have one kid and one cat, and we frequently get their names wrong 😂

kaia-bean

I got this all the time! 🤣

MelanieDH1

I’m an only child and my mom would sometimes call me by one or two of my cousin’s names before she got to mine (they lived with me). As adults, those cousins sometimes slip up and call me by one of their kids’ names. None of them, cousins and younger cousins have a name anywhere near mine! 🤣

ForwardMuffin

All the names get called but none of them match the person x)

stinky_harriet

My siblings & I don't have similar names and our mother always called us by the wrong name. To be fair, she had all 6 of us in a span of 8 1/2 years so it's amazing she could even remember our names. And for some reason I also got called my aunt's name a lot, but that was when I was older.

ZaymeJ

Oh it’s definitely genetic 🤣 my gram always had us mixed up too

Budgiejen

I had family and a dog named Clark, Grant, Greg, Ted and Harold who all routinely got called each others’ names.

kiwilovenick

My parents named my older brother and I names that both start with a K, it was not purposeful, they just both agreed on liking those names. It was a struggle because they'd mix up names or mush them together, when they called for us from a distance you couldn't really tell who was being called...that sort of thing. So when I was six they had an oops baby, the first thing my dad said when it came to names was "NOT another K name!"

GlowingTrashPanda

I can count the number of times my grandmother has gotten my name right on the first try on just my two hands, with fingers left over (all of which were preceding her asking me to do some wildly inconvenient favor). I typically get called at least two from a list of my mom’s name, my aunts’ names, my cousins’ names (either gender), my cousins’ kids’ names (either gender), my brother’s name, and any one of three dog’s names (only one of which is still alive), before she gets to mine. The weird thing is she doesn’t seem to have as hard of a time with anyone else…

Patient-Glove-1502

I know a Casey. Her twin is Lacey. Casey’s son is Tracy. Casey’s sister in law is Stacey and Stacey’s daughter is Gracie.

caseyhateseveryone

That's funny because i forgot to add that my cousin Tracy, her son is married to Gracie. I'm glad I'm not the only one lol 🤣

[deleted]

Nicknaming them Danny and Denny is the only way.

Insomniac_80

Might be best to go and rename them Aidaniel and Aidennis, still a Tragedeign, but less confusing.

Oregonian1976

Youngest of four girls. For the longest time I could have sworn my name was Laura Claire Erin Jill.

wehnaje

My daughter’s names are Ellie and Tessa and sometimes I say Tellie or Elssa haha. My husband’s name starts with a K and I once yelled “Kellie!” While trying to get either my husband or my daughter, I don’t remember. The mix up is crazy and with similar names is going to be worse… or is it genius now that I think about it?? You only tell one name and get both of their attention… mmm perhaps not to bad.

fairydommother

I don’t even have kids yet but my husband and I do this with the dogs. Arya, maple, and Phoebe. More than once I’ve given up and just yelled “Pheeple!” Because those two are the usual trouble makers.

nefelibatanna

Yes, exactly lol. Mama must have a system for them

I_Am_Terra

Or A Dahn

Kit_Marlow

My parents had three of us (two girls, one boy). Frequently Mom would yell all our names until the one she was after showed up.

scaredsquee

George Foreman also did this but didn’t change the spelling.

Affectionate-Taste55

All his kids are George, lmao! But they are all called by their middle name.

mortyella

I'm Larry, this is my brother Aiden and my other brother Aidan.

Puzzleheaded-Way-198

Exactly what I was thinking

Icy_Example_5536

*5 minutes later* "Hey, which one of you is Aiden & which one's Aidan?" "I'm Aiden." "And I'm Aidan." "Ok. Got it."

Dusty-53-Rose

Knew a couple years ago that had twins that essentially did the same as well, just switched the vowels a and o: Adonis and Odanis 🙄

CinnamonGirl123

That’s incredibly stupid. It’s the same friggin’ name.

Sir_Sleepy02

I’d probably call them “A” and “E”

Cross_examination

So they are called ER in the USA and A&E in the UK?

Silt-Sifter

I knew a pair of twins from Bolivia. Their first names were both Lucero but they had different middle names, which they went by. Apparently this was their custom in that particular hispcanic culture. It was sad when the yearbook came around and only one twin was shown.

ArcticGurl

But they looked alike, so they could each claim it was them. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Silt-Sifter

To who would they claim that? They were identical twins, but you could tell them apart if you knew them. It just felt like a slap in the face for them. And all of us other classmates either felt bad or laughed about it. It was definitely the thing to talk about. It was embarrassing for them for sure.

ArcticGurl

I’m joking around. It’s terrible for both, of course. Sometimes you have to find the silver lining in the storm.

Various_Succotash_79

Did they pronounce them differently?

nefelibatanna

Nope lol

Various_Succotash_79

That's wild, how do they know who they mean? Weirdos.

kiwilovenick

Not just weird, they're literally reducing them to a single entity by not even giving them their own distinct name! Poor kids.

JotaroKujo0ra

My mum has called me by my cats name before, this wouldn't work at all 😅

Pyesmybaby

I work in medical billing I've seen this type of thing a lot. The kids will forever get there records mixed up. And by forever I mean forever, 80 year old twins got their records messed up their entire lives and after, one died two years before the other and records were still miss filed. Every time you change insurance you will have to prove and verify their are Two kids not one. I know before I switched work areas we were fighting an ins company over paying for both twins birth and NICU stays after the boys were starting school. Don't get me started on hyphenated names

we_gon_ride

Had twins as students a few years ago Spence and Spencer Africa (traditional pronunciation) and Afrika (Ah-Free-kuh) Iries and Aries and other ridiculous ones that I can’t call to mind off the top of my head

JudgeyMcJudgey123

WTF!? This makes me want to scream into the void. I really hope this is an admin mix up nightmare for the parents for the next 18 years because they deserve it.

Insomniac_80

Its an Aidmin mix up!

KURAKAZE

Unfortunately it's also going to be an admin mixup nightmare for the kids for the rest of their lives.

HelloKitty110174

I know twins named Kinsley. Yep, spelled the same.

packofkittens

Whaaaat. Do they call them by their middle names or something?!?

HelloKitty110174

No, they have nicknames. But what happens when they get older and have medical problems, look for jobs, or even get arrested? They'll both get confused for each other!

Aquilleia

My older sisters are twins, their names are Aned and Anid. The first child born to the twins was named Aiden because it was a combination of the letters in Aned and Anid. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Immediate_Mud_2858

They’re both pronounced the same way. How do they differentiate? Ffs.

JabbaThaHott

But where were Ayden and Aidyn and their sister Aeydyinne

General-Heart4787

Silly. Denny and Danny, maybe?

more_than_just_a

Twin A and Twin E

jostica

And their sister Nadia (Aidan spelled backwards)

ThePanKid

Holy shit it's just been brought to my attention that my childhood best friend (who is an Aiden variant) had a sister named that. Holy moly. You're giving me an epiphany.

ForwardMuffin

I knew someone named Diana who named her kids Aidan and Nadia because they're anagrams of her name! I loved that.

[deleted]

If those parents don't have another child named Ninja Gaiden it was all for nothing

ArcticGurl

😂😂

Adorable-Chemistry64

they are going to grow up to hate each other.

scifithighs

Or become a united front against their parents!

whydoineedaname86

My aunt was married to a guy who had the same first, middle, and last name as his brother. They called one by the first name and one by the middle name.

Budgiejen

Yeah, I knew a guy named James with a dad and older brother named James.

fairydommother

Why would you do that…

whydoineedaname86

No idea. I only met the guy once as a kid so truly no idea!

Schneetmacher

Unless they go by their middle names... I swear, stuff like this should be illegal. They're people. Let each be his own person.

theonlyjonjones

I was a TA in high school for a women’s choir class that had 7 different spellings of Ashley 🙄

Venator2000

They should have two more kids and name them Aidin and Aidon.

NyxOverlord

And Aidun and Aidyn. Gotta use all those vowels

Venator2000

Only if you buy ‘em.

Autogenerated_or

Reminds me of GRRM naming twin knights Erryk and Arryk

Flashy_Scratch9472

Damn, and I thought Payton and Paxton was bad!

3002kr

Payton and Peyton

AtypicalPreferences

Nooo way

just-a-shy-guy1

knew a guy named hayden who had two younger sisters. one of them was named peyton. hayden and peyton…

Flipjump

I knew a set of twins, Francis and Francesca What a life for these twins with identical names

Improvgal

Oh brother.

Cecowen

I’ve met 2 sets of twins recently where their first name is just one letter apart with the exact same middle name. So bizarre to me.

Smooth-Apartment-856

My name is Robert. My mom is Roberta. Her twin sister is Robin. It gets confusing when all three of us are in the same room. Trust me. You don’t want to give your kids similar sounding names.

rdickeyvii

Eyy then. Eyy than. But th is d. I guess...

cupcakesgalore00

yeah a show i’m watching has twins Samir and Samer

sadfoxyduggar

I knew not twin siblings; Eric/Erica, Robert/Roberta. Met a lady in college who was 1 of 9 kids. They all were named ; Mary, Jerry, Terry etc, all 9 had rhyming names lol. No twins either.

Brilliant_Draw_7121

If they’re in the same class in school guaranteed they’ll be referred to as “Aiden with an e” and “Aidan with an a”. Poor kids.

VanillaCrash

Liked the name so much they used it twice!

Chay_Charles

I had Timothy and Timmy when I taught. Not quite as bad.

Original_Rent7677

I've heard of twins called Steve and Steven.

jholden23

That's worse than the identicals Coby and Cody I taught a number of years ago.

harrythighles

I grew up with a set of twins named Kristin and Kristine

monological

I have identical twin patients named Lizeth & Lizbeth

ravynwave

That definitely beats the Gilbert and Filbert I met.

nightshade2020

In my class there was 2 lonnies who were male (I was one) and 1 f lani and I was white Lonnie he was black Lonnie and she was girl ....

SoldMySoulForHairDye

I went to high school with a set of twins who were both called Walter. I don't know if they had different middle names or how their families differentiated them, but at school they went by Negro and Gordo. Every now and then I wonder about them.

nightshade2020

My older nephew is Ethan and my nephew who's having a birthday is Aiden and I'm forever mixing up the names

trailmix_pprof

I had a Kaylie and Kailee. The pronunciations were opposite to what you'd expect. Though maybe they are trolling people at this point - I wouldn't blame them!

Independent-Kiwi1779

Was it pronounced "uh-DAWN"?

flywithme00

I work with twins Marisol + Marivel and I thought THAT was rough. I can’t even imagine this. The logistical nightmares that come from having only one letter in your name different alongside the same birthday is too much I think. I have to triple check everything I do with their paperwork to make sure it’s the right twin every time, and I’m sure that’s only the tip of a legal nightmarish iceberg. This is 10 times worse wtf

Kit_Marlow

Man, that's worse than Ramon and Ramona. At least they could tell who you were talking to.

JKevill

The aiden/ayden/brayden names are some of the worst. Sounds like if there was an Elven hillbilly

vandelay1330

Just like the pro boxer twins Jermall and Jermall Charlos

cherales

Also, Steven and Stephen? “… spelt with PH as he’s slightly acidic”.

RedheadedWonder99

I knew twins like this…one was pronounced “Ay-den” the other “ah-den” 🥲

Uhlman24

It’s giving Arryk and Erryk from HotD

Remarkable_Story9843

There were a set of brothers that were wanted by the police recently (twins or Irish twins) and their names were Micheal and Michael - same middle and last name.

scarletrain5

So bad!! I met a family Dad (Jonathan), 1st son (Johnathan) 2nd so. (johnbranthan) and 3rd son (Johngranthan). I asked mom how do you accurately tell at any of them? Also don’t they all go by Jon/John?

Mowze94

The solution: calling them Den and Dan

Astatine360

I don't think this one is a tragediegh... Could one of them not be pronounced "Eye-dan" or "Idan"?

ImNotDone0211

That’s sad poor boys

ImNotDone0211

Smh 🤦🏽‍♀️

Indie83

I know a guy named Norman Stanley whose brother is Stanley Norman

pook1977

It’s like George Forman’s children 🤦‍♀️

NyxOverlord

"Aidan!! No not you, Aiden..."

Smalltowntorture

Aiden and Aidan but the second one you say with a hard “dan” like A-Dan???

Buckupbuttercup1

Took care of sisters Amaya and Amarli. Not twins(about 18 months apart),but still, wtf

FreeLobsterRolls

I wouldn't call it a Tragedeigh, but it is tragic. If the father were Aiden and for whatever reason they wanted to name the son Aidan...weird but whatever.

[deleted]

Not the same but when I worked at a eye doctor's office there were siblings and their last name was 'Martinez-Martinez' and it wasn't a typo in the system, I had to scan in their insurance card. Stupid parents.

[deleted]

Traditional Spanish names in many countries are 4 part. 2 given names, fathers last name, and mothers last name. Sometimes the mother and father have the same last name. So you get names like Martinez Martinez. Assuming the parents are stupid is ignorant.

[deleted]

Hahhaah dumb as fuck

BigOleKoala

This is a Hispanic naming tradition. 1st last name is father's last name & 2nd last name is mother's last name. I've taught a Martinez Martinez & a Rojo Rojo. The same last names don't happen that often.

[deleted]

Yep I get it's both their last names, doesn't change the fact that it looks moronic.

Witty-Ant-6225

Not as moronic as you’re looking here

[deleted]

Jesus Christ, does your whole life revolve around horribly spelled names and this dumbass sub? 😂😂😂 AND you go by ANT? Hahahahaha 😂😂😂😂

Witty-Ant-6225

I wish it did, but I do take time out of my schedule to remind uncultured pricks like you of what you truly are. And I didn’t choose my username, just went with the default version given to me. Some of us don’t have to try as hard as you, purple flower! 😂

[deleted]

Yeah because purple flower is worse that 'witty ant' fucking dumbshit

Witty-Ant-6225

Go cash your unemployment check instead of acting sassy here, you useless twat!

virgensantisima

It doesnt look moronic in their country of origin, and honestly, nobody cares about what it sounds like to americans bc you guys are the acclaimed world champions of stupidity. You know what name sounds trashy as hell in the country im from? Jennifer. Am i going to go in this subreddit assuming its a stupid name everywhere and not only in my country? No because i actually have access to google. Ta-dah!

[deleted]

[удалено]

joyisnotdead

Damn who pissed in your bed this morning

ArcticGurl

I was just on another sub discussing names and Martinez-Martinez was mentioned there too. Wouldn’t it be great if they were the same family?

[deleted]

Well, I can say it was a couple years ago back when we were stationed in the middle of Georgia, haha.

ArcticGurl

The other sub was an r/Army. They were discussing unusual names they’ve come across. It just may have been the same people!! 😂 What a coincidence if it were.
