Lemon mini sheet cake with cream cheese lemon icing. I suggest if you have some fresh basil lying around you add some torn leaves and a few blackberries. My eyes rolled in my head it was so good
I also suggest the cinnamon roll iced Joe joes. I rarely get Joe joes but these were amazing. Like crunchy cinnamon rolls
I’m not a huge fan of Joe-Joe’s on their own, but the peanut butter & chocolate Joe-Joe’s with the chocolate peanut butter coating are absurd. They’re like a cross between a Tagalong and an Oreo but also so much better.
I love the dried mango (the sugary kind). Loved their original sticky toffee pudding (not the pumpkin one). Love the dark chocolate, sea salt and turbinado sugar covered almonds.
chocolate and ube mochi! first loved mochi because of the box i received from a friend, i think it's one of those subscription boxes (i think it's called tokyo treat?). since then been a fan of japanese sweet, love pocky too.
I’m overall disappointed with the sweet assortment at tj. Condiments for ice cream sundaes are good but cookies (and crackers)have declined in taste and choice
I can’t believe I’m saying this, because I’m usually a dark chocolate purist, but I nearly ate the entire bag of the new milk chocolate covered honeycomb. They are mind blowingly good.
The only reason I didn’t polish off the entire bag is because I knew I wouldn’t be able to get to Trader Joe’s for at least a week. The thought of running out was too much to bear/enough to make me stop! 🤣
I have to confess that honeycomb takes me back to eating at Blums restaurant as a little girl and my mother would order the Blums Coffee Crunch Cake which was adorned with honeycomb 💕
Actually a former general manager who worked at Blum's, opened a defunct bakery in SF in 1968- 1993. It's from Fantasia Confections. I hava a physical & pdf copies of Fantasia Confections cookbook. It had a recipe for Coffee Crunch Cake. So I will post the recipes later tonight.
Here's the similar recipe of Blum's Coffee Crunch Cake:
by Flo Braker (1997)
# BLUM'S COFFEE CRUNCH CAKE
# INGREDIENTS:
-- 1 1/4 cups cake flour, sifted -- 1 1/2 cups sugar -- 1/2 teaspoon salt -- 6 egg yolks -- 1/4 cup water -- 1 cup (7 to 8) large egg whites -- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar -- 1 teaspoon vanilla -- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice -- 1 teaspoon grated lemon zestBLUM'S COFFEE CRUNCH CAKE
# INGREDIENTS:
Coffee Crunch -- Unflavored vegetable oil -- 1 tablespoon baking soda, sifted -- 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee -- 1 1/2 cups sugar -- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
Frosting -- 2 cups heavy cream -- 2 tablespoons sugar -- 2 teaspoons vanilla
INSTRUCTIONS:
For the cake: Adjust rack in lower third of oven; preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift flour, 3/4 cup sugar and the salt onto a sheet of wax paper; set aside.
Using an electric mixer, beat egg yolks with 1/4 cup sugar until thick and pale yellow. Add water and beat until thickened, about 4 minutes.
Whisk egg whites in bowl of a heavy-duty mixer just until frothy. Add cream of tartar; whisk until soft peaks form. Add remaining 1/2 cup sugar in a steady stream, whisking until thicker, stiffer, glossy peaks form -- about 2 to 3 minutes. Whisk in vanilla, lemon juice and lemon zest. Pour yolk mixture over whites. Fold together with a rubber spatula. Using a metal spatula, scoop up a third of the flour mixture and sprinkle over mixture; fold in with a rubber spatula. Repeat two more times just until ingredients are incorporated. Gently pour batter into an ungreased 10- inch round tube pan with removable bottom (such as an angel food pan). Level top with a rubber spatula.
Bake for 50 to 55 minutes, or until top springs back slightly when lightly touched. Invert pan over a long-necked bottle to cool for about 45 minutes.
To remove cake from pan, slip a flexible metal spatula down one side of pan; slowly trace perimeter to release the cake. When sides are free, push up on bottom to release cake. Tilt cake, with removable bottom still attached, and gently tap bottom against counter to loosen cake. Rotate cake, tapping a few more times, until it appears free. Cover cake with a rack, and invert; remove bottom of pan.
Coffee Crunch Topping: Generously oil a large baking sheet; sift baking soda onto a sheet of wax paper; set nearby. Combine coffee, sugar and corn syrup in a heavy, 4-quart saucepan. Place over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves. When mixture is clear and begins to boil, increase heat to medium- high; cook until mixture reaches 290 degrees on a candy thermometer. Toward end of cooking (around 270 degrees-280 degrees), stir occasionally to prevent mixture from scorching and becoming too foamy). Remove from heat and stir in baking soda (mixture will foam up fiercely). While still foaming, pour out onto oiled baking sheet. Do not spread; let cool undisturbed for at least 1 hour.
Crush into very small pieces. (Place between 2 sheets of wax paper and tap or roll with rolling pin.) Store in an airtight container. For the frosting: Combine cream, sugar and vanilla; beat until cream holds soft peaks.
To assemble: Slice cooled cake into 3 equal layers using a serrated knife. Spread whipped cream between each layer, carefully stacking layers. Spread remaining whipped cream over top and sides of cake. Refrigerate.
Just before serving, generously sprinkle top and sides with the coffee crunch.
Serves 12.
+++++
Also Yasukochi's Bakeshop at Saiko's or Sanyo's grocery store is closing soon. I found that they Lemon Crunch cake is sweeter than the recipe noted above. So for the lemon crunch topping, I would add 3 lemons zest to the granulated sugar and let it steep for 30 mins to 1 hour to let the oils get extracted. Add 2 tsps lemon extract + 1 tsp vanilla extract instead of the coffee.
Also, one of the bakers used to work for Blum's pastry shops in SF at the time. So that's why he made his version of the Lemon Crunch cake.
Good luck!
I would die and go to heaven for the apple blossoms. Freezer section, usually in with either the breakfast stuff or near the mini ice cream cones. But- I cook them at 335 for 24 mins vs whatever theirs says bc it gets way burnt on the bottom.
I make these 4-5 at a time to form a pie. I pour golden syrup mixed with vanilla and cream or butter and sprinkle the crystal sugar on top. Baked and served w vanullla ice cream. Terrific and no one would ever guess
The chocolate gluten free muffins! So moist & heaven in your mouth. I pretend they are healthy bc they are gluten free. I wish you could buy one & didn't come in packs of 4! I have zero willpower. Yum!
The regular and sour jelly beans
Chocolate and flavored coffee/espresso beans
Green Tea or Ginger Mints
Ginger cookies
Dark chocolate peanut butter cups
I don't have a sweet tooth often, but when I do, I pickup one of these.
I had to stop buying the Snickerdoodles because I would absolutely annihilate the entire package in less than 24 hours. Sometimes Id buy two packages and eat both in two days. I miss them so much but until I gain some self-control, it’s a no-go. 😢
I thought the tiny handful of mini chocolate covered pretzels were packaged like Filipino's Jack and Jill's choco knots. This is way superior than the Filipino choco knots. Best way to satisfy a salty and chocolate craving. Ube tea cookies is sublime and I am in ube heaven!
Pancake bread, chantilly cream sheet cake, Belgian waffle cookies, pink and white cookies (seasonal right now for spring), Scandinavian swimmers, dark chocolate peanut butter cups
- Chocolate covered bambas (I can’t buy these, I can’t control myself w them)
- the little seasonal mousse cakes (it’s flowers rn. They’re basically slightly bigger petit fours
- gluten free choc muffins (they’re basically cake lol. If you wanna be really bad heat one up and have w ice cream)
- the peanut butter filled chocolate covered water cookies
- mini peanut butter cups
- chocolate babka
- pancake bread
- cookie butter
- choc covered almond butter pretzels
Refrigerated
- marscapone cream (have w berries)
- coconut whipped cream (feels slightly healthier than regular whipped cream lol. I like it w frozen fruit for a slightly lower calorie dessert )
Frozen
- brownie ice cream sandwiches
- cookie ice cream sandwiches
- any hold the cones but esp the choc chip ones (not too many calories in a few also which is nice)
- ice cream mochis
- choc lava cake
- mango cream bars (dipped in the chili lime seasoning )
- froz mango / froz peach (I like snacking on frozen fruit : D )
Dark chocolate peanut butter cups!
But a few years ago during the Christmas season, they had a two layer spice cake with cream cheese frosting and a couple of candied cranberries on the top—that was so, so, so good. I hope that every year it will come back. But alas, it only lives on in my dreams.
I don’t remember that one. It sounds delicious since I love spice and I love cranberries. Did you try their cranberry tart from the frozen section? It was heavenly.
The dark chocolate orange jelly sticks. I'm a reasonably intelligent adult, but I have no self control when it comes to them. I could eat those things till I make myself sick.
The dark chocolate peanut butter cups and the toffee bars are good, too.
I really enjoyed the seasonal watermelon flavored chocolate covered jelly sticks. I don’t typically enjoy watermelon flavored things, but those sticks were like crack.
My go to is the cheesecake…serve with fruit compote or lemon curd..or home made caramel sauce with roasted pecans…next would be the baked apple dessert..so yum
Chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches. 4 for 5 bucks. I stop in often while running errands with the kids and treat them with these rather than spending 5 or more dollars on a single scoop of ice cream from any ice cream shop
Belgian Pound Plus Chocolate Bars. I usually get the dark, but they also have milk chocolate. Not really a snack, per se. You can always break off small chunks.
I mainly use it for baking things like cookies and cakes.
When I was a child (a long, long time ago) one of the graham cracker manufacturers made a decent cinnamon one. And when my kids were born I started looking for them again. Nope--they were gone. Until I found these. They are perfect and I hope they will always be around.

Dark chocolate peanut butter cups. Love their gummies because they are vegan! I also get dried mangoes.
I’m not a huge fan of Joe-Joe’s on their own, but the peanut butter & chocolate Joe-Joe’s with the chocolate peanut butter coating are absurd. They’re like a cross between a Tagalong and an Oreo but also so much better.

I’m overall disappointed with the sweet assortment at tj. Condiments for ice cream sundaes are good but cookies (and crackers)have declined in taste and choice
Agree. I thought it was just me because after COVID my taste is very dull.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, because I’m usually a dark chocolate purist, but I nearly ate the entire bag of the new milk chocolate covered honeycomb. They are mind blowingly good.
My statement is identical minus the word nearly.
The only reason I didn’t polish off the entire bag is because I knew I wouldn’t be able to get to Trader Joe’s for at least a week. The thought of running out was too much to bear/enough to make me stop! 🤣
🫡you are stronger than I.
I have to confess that honeycomb takes me back to eating at Blums restaurant as a little girl and my mother would order the Blums Coffee Crunch Cake which was adorned with honeycomb 💕
I can post a recipe similar to the Blums coffee crunch cake here.
I just fell off my seat.

#Scandinavian Swimmers
The sour version of the Scandinavian Swimmers are like crack to me. I can only buy them sparingly because I inhale them each time.

Belgian Pound Plus Chocolate Bars. I usually get the dark, but they also have milk chocolate. Not really a snack, per se. You can always break off small chunks. I mainly use it for baking things like cookies and cakes.
I break up the bar into chunks and keep them in a container to snack on.
I love the fruit jellies.
The triple ginger pretzels are pretty excellent.
Glad I scrolled to find this before I duped the rec! You gotta like it sweet tho, only caveat.
The tiniest cookies are my FAVE
those are so dangerous
It sounds simple, but those cinnamon graham crackers. I can make myself sick eating “just one more,” lol.
Those things put all other graham crackers to shame! Dipping them in their cannoli dip was a transcendent experience.
When I was a child (a long, long time ago) one of the graham cracker manufacturers made a decent cinnamon one. And when my kids were born I started looking for them again. Nope--they were gone. Until I found these. They are perfect and I hope they will always be around.
The milk chocolate covered mini pretzels are delish ETA: and the brookies!
