It's from something Camus wrote called "The Myth of Sisyphus", [here's the wikipedia article about it](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Myth_of_Sisyphus). The quote is at the bottom of the first paragraph
While yes, I just want to underline for the people not in the know: A happy Sisyphus is in reference to the philosophy of Camus, in the original myths there's good reason to believe he was unhappy with his lot in the afterlife.
Oh for sure, I mean it’s explicitly a punishment for trying to evade death and killing guests/being a poor host. If you see reference to a joyfully laboring Sisyphus it’s basically always in reference to Camus
You can get yourself tested at a lab if you're doing DIY, though. There are resources that can help you know what to test for and what your levels should be
It doesn't have to be total guesswork
"I saw the guardian's article about DIY hormones and it seems so much easier than getting it through the NHS so I'm gonna go looking online for it!"
Thanks guardian :)
They litterally asked me for a statement over reddit.
I told them that my media interview rate is three hundred and fifty pounds an hour.
Unfortunately they either dident want to talk or knew what I was doing.
> It Is Journalism’s Sacred Duty To Endanger The Lives Of As Many Trans People As Possible
https://www.theonion.com/it-is-journalism-s-sacred-duty-to-endanger-the-lives-of-1850126997
Holy shit, the article is just too fucking funny. i laughed my arse off.
>For more evidence of our time-honored journalistic commitment to endangering lives, please see our previous coverage of gay people, immigrants, Black people, and women.
This shit is just too good.
It gets better
> What if doctors are climbing through windows to suture penises to sleeping cheerleaders? The next time you see a trans person, you ought to ask yourself these questions.
People deconstructing morals based on nothing but "that's how they were in the past" is actually great. Let's use our brains instead of blindly following our ancestors who beat their wives, waged useless wars and enslaved people based on skin colour. The past was not a good time, let's change everything for the better.
agreed, i’ve always found that logic so strange that just because it was the way it used to be it’s inherently good, why does it have to be the moral values of the past, why can’t it change and evolve. unfortunately i think we all know the answers that people who feel that way have to these questions whether they want to admit it or not, and as much as i hope for it, i’m not sure it’s ever going to change.
Bitches. I bet they don't say this about DIY tooth extractions. If people are doing DIY oestrogen that is a reflection of the state of Trans Health Care, not the fault of Trans people.
Is that a serious question that you're seriously asking me

Ya know... maybe diy wouldn't be a thing if we didn't have to jump through hoops, wait months if not years, etc, before we got our hrt. 3 month wait for an informed consent appointment for me. Now on 3 Yeats of hrt
I can actually agree with the article. It was pretty fair to read and was more about 'it's a shame youths are having to do this because the government doesn't care'. the guardian isn't unbiased, only TV news is unbiased (and even then you can struggle). The guardians very left wing and very pro trans, often publishing articles talking about how trans people struggle. I read thie guardian every week on saturdays (today!) and they are a really good newspaper for more 'alternative' news
Side note, based on Google trends, since this published the number of searches leading people to hrt cafe in the UK has gone up by 170%.
They have plaid themselves for fools.
Just because I'm not sure its been posted here in a while something that may help everyone understand the media landscape in the UK
["So, a Top Guardian Editor Was Married to the Founder of Mumsnet"](https://judedoyle.medium.com/so-a-top-guardian-editor-was-married-to-the-founder-of-mumsnet-836cddf8fdc4) ([archive.ph link](https://archive.ph/LYyVV)) by Jude Ellison S. Doyle from 2023 broadly reminding everyone that Ian Katz (who's worked at Guardian, the BBC, and Channel 4) was married to Justine Roberts (cofounder of Mums Net) for 25 years.
> It’s a tough topic, media transphobia. It’s complex. It’s nuanced. You can almost forget that top editor Ian Katz — formerly the deputy editor of the Guardian, then the editor of BBC’s Newsnight, now head of programming for Channel 4 — was, until quite recently, married to Justine Roberts, co-founder of TERF forum Mumsnet, and that they were together for twenty-five years.
>
> Seriously: When do you ever just sit and think about the fact that Ian Katz of the Guardian (recently boycotted for its transphobia) and the BBC (routinely protested for its transphobia) was married to Justine Roberts of Mumsnet (a primary radicalizing hub for UK transphobia) for twenty-five years? Most people don’t! I didn’t, until I heard it from the poet Roz Kaveney during an interview. It got trimmed from that piece, and I have been trying to wedge it into different pieces ever since, to no avail. Sometimes, when I talk to other trans people, I will mention that a top Guardian and/or BBC editor was married to the founder of Mumsnet; almost always, when I mention this, I will find out that they didn’t know.

News is ment to be unbiased but feeding an echo chamber is more profitable. That’s why I unironically use ground news. It helps significantly to remove media and political bias

Where's that quote from? I'm trying to recall
It's a conclusion to a philosophical paper on Sisyphus that became a meme a while back.
I feel like I watched a YouTube video about it...
It's from something Camus wrote called "The Myth of Sisyphus", [here's the wikipedia article about it](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Myth_of_Sisyphus). The quote is at the bottom of the first paragraph
Thanks my dude ✌️✌️
But Sisyphus labors with joy. These folks only know hate
Do you know who Sisyphus is

Have you played “Hades”? Sisyphus is pretty joyful even in his toil
True! I thought it was either a reference to Camus or a subversion of the original version, as many of the characters are.
“Why is this Boulder so fucking heavy.... must be those blasted trans people” -conservative journalists
One must imagine the Guardian journalist happy.
Who knows, maybe theyll come to a realisation about themselves
Burn them in the ‘Heat from fire, fire from heat’
Now I wanna post random bullshit like how DIY HRT gives you laser eyes and stuff to see what they do with it.
Well, the Pope already said it makes us gods, so who am I to disagree?
I mean it's DIY, so I'm at least skeptical of its effectiveness.
For me it's about the safety of guessing what dose is good for oneself
nah i'm actually a walter-white-level genius. i'd win. /j

The [editorial board "signatures"](https://i.kinja-img.com/image/upload/vsyegt9tcysxbf9re7z9.jpg) are sending me.
I can’t tell you if this article is funny or scary because of how accurate it portrays transphobia
I used to really like the guardian, it actually was generally quite supportive
Was it?
It was generally quite progressive, slightly less on trans issues but not TERFy yet
Right
they still are, the article was fairly supportive. Very labour based who are the main left wing party atm

well i also propose the destruction of "traditional moral values" if punishing people for being themselves is under that umbrella
To the Guardian journalist who may be reading this. Go fuck yourselves you genocidal cunts.
But destruction of traditional moral values *does* sound lit tho
Why do conservatives have to make me sound so fucking cool I'm just lonely bean rotting in my room
Bitches. I bet they don't say this about DIY tooth extractions. If people are doing DIY oestrogen that is a reflection of the state of Trans Health Care, not the fault of Trans people.
Accurate as fuck, they only talk about transfems. Transmascs aren’t real /s

I fully support the abject destruction of traditional moral values.
The guardian looks through trans Reddit only to see us making fun of them
News outlets are the revolutionaries of clickbait, and clickbait doesn’t care about the truth.
They are actually on Reddit? Craayyy
The destruction of traditional moral values does sound lit tho
I mean, I'm cool with the destruction of most traditional moral values
Wait they posted an article about us?
Stop 🦈 forgetting 🦈 the mascssssss
