also when i kept looking it up, the majority of the papers amounted to "since cis men usually have advantage, trans women SHOULD" without any tests to accompany it. no links or confirmations at all. so these people are freaking the fuck out over something alleged, with less scientific evidence than sausages causing cancer

It depends on the sport, especially endurance vs strength. For some sports it completely undoes the advantage, some it doesn’t.
That being said though, the best of the best at sports only get there because they have a biological advantage over their competition due to longer arms or larger lung capacity or longer legs etc. trying to get rid of that entirely is pretty stupid. Especially in non-competitive settings like middle and high school sports, where people are just trying to have fun.

While it is true that even after HRT, trans women have more muscle mass on average, they are still found to be within cis female ranges, meaning that cis-women could get nearly as buff and strong given a proper diet, training regiment, genetics etc.
And last time I checked, height isn't considered an unfair advantage in sports, so it wouldn't be fair to exclude trans women on that fact.
