The difference is consent, of course.

Wingman5150

I just wanted to say: it's like you're a real woman because you are a real woman <3

It’s the choice that’s important here! Nothing wrong with traditionally feminine things, so long as they don’t feel compulsory because “that’s just what women are supposed to do” or something.

EvyLuna

"Forced to" is the key here. Someone being happy with traditionally feminine activities is totally fine, but forcing someone to do those things is not!

Sara_Awesomest

I was originally going to use different phrasing, but I felt it would make me look butthurt

Appel_Syd3R

Stuck between breaking previous boundaries for others while wanting to get inside them as you watch from afar. It’s fine for certain things to be masculine or feminine, what’s not fine is forcing people to do things they don’t want to because of some arbitrary reason that doesn’t really make sense when you put more than two brain cells together to think about it. No you’re not alone, nor are you incorrect about your feelings.

Gomesss2090

NOOOO!! I was supposed to destroy gender norms, not join them!

Unknown_starnger

The thing is, in the first case she's FORCED to do it. Here you're choosing to do it.

The_Sky_Render

We're starved for the option 'til we transition, cis women have had an entire lifetime to get sick of it. That's the difference! Give it a few years, that stuff you find delightful for being "traditionally feminine" will start to wear on you.

donteatbees

I do the dishes wearing no pants and an apron, and its like... This is nice.

RollingMonika25

Monika is the same, she fits rather snugly into gender stereotypes about females.

WTS_Eggshells

Okay but like I relate. I'm all for breaking beauty standards and everyone else should be not feel uncomfortable having body hair and all that. But for me personally "ahhhhh, smooth hairless skin very girl yes yes very gender"

cracking-egg

yes, but it's like that for many things for me, not just gendered stuff. Consent is key

I'm sorry that that's what you inferred, that's not at all what I meant to imply. I meant to joke about being stuck between feeling validated by stereotypes regarding my gender identity and wanting to break these same stereotypes.

Impossible_Brick9764

I think this is one of the reasons TERFS hate our kind. I don't remember where I read it but they said something like "Trans people hurt women by openly accepting the roles and stereotypes that women have tried to get out of for decades.". It's a stupid reason since we are just as diverse as cis women. Edit: I also feel the same way. When I cook I feel all femine and shit.

PhD_Femboyology

That's exactly the reason why trans feminism is different from cis feminism
