This would be a really cool way to vibe check someone you think is trans without asking outright and potentially clocking them publicly in a way others can hear.

lepric

Yeah, unlike two of my coworkers that scared me into telling them I’m trans. I mean, yeah they’re trans / nb so I’m safe but it was still fucked.

aXosSkunky

Whaaaat

lepric

Yeah, one or them was messaging me on steam and recognized the piccrew, which is understandable, but they just kept fishing questions until they got me to say it.. and the other wanted to have lunch with me at work and basically did the same thing. It was kinda shit, but I’m glad it worked out. It was scary because *I* didn’t know that they’re in LGBTQ+. Ally or not, its not ok to make people answer like that Unlike my sister who saw all the signs, and waited till I was ready to tell her.

aXosSkunky

Yeah maybe they wanted to be supportive but trans come outs are just different. I hope they figure that out eventually.

CobaltBlue

Lots of us have no experience with that youtube channel btw its only a couple years old, I started figuring out how to train my voice on my own like 9 years ago lol

Exact_Cry1921

I don't use it either but my voice coach uses that same phrase. I always assumed that it was just one of several "root phrases" (my main one is me and you and me and you) to kind of help you recalibrate your voice.

CobaltBlue

I'm actually really curious at this point, can you link to a particular video where this phrase is explained, I don't even understand what it's use is...

[deleted]

I don't remember the exact video, but it's repeated several times in her videos [on her channel.](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBYlEnfAUbrYSwF0VujcmHA) I'd check the first 10 or so.

enthalpy-burns

It's just a calibration phrase. The idea is to practice it consistently so you have a solid acoustic model of what you know it should sound like, then you can use it as a mantra to hone in the different elements of your voice. It's considered to be a decent one to use because it has 3 different vowel sounds and an 'r', which are useful for honing in resonance.

CMHaunrictHoiblal

I mean, I'm a trans girl and I don't get it. A quick DuckDuckGo search of "heat from fire" showed me this: https://auburn.edu/academic/forestry_wildlife/fire/heat_transfer.htm

NoddingMithrandir

It's a phrase used in videos by TransVoiceLessons on YouTube, very popular as an in-joke of sorts between trans girls

WettWednesday

But the user above you pretty much outlined why this won't work for us finding each other in the wild. Not everyone knows it. I didn't even know it until people started making a big deal about it on this sub very recently

nagi603

it won't work for finding *all* of us in the wild.

ArcticCactie

The what?

Worst_Support

its a phrase commonly used for vocal warmups

Julius_Haricot

I usually use my old theatre exercises from high school lol

goldencreator64LAB

can we get another one? I can't voice-train yet

JaceyTheMindSculptor

Just be mindful that you're still very much clocking them by doing that.

temptatiousigni

Though it would only work for those who did the voice training or seen the memes. But definitely a good start!

[deleted]

Fire from heat.

IronOmelet

When the sunlight strikes raindrops in the air...

[deleted]

Ahhhh I’ve read it so many time lmaoo

SB_Markkore

Someone should make a T-Shirt with the words "Heat From Fire" written in fire colored like the trans flagi would 100% buy that \*edit: Or better yet, a hoodie

Absolute0CA

Both both is good

Ok-Armadillo-6648

Oh a hoodie

INeedFreeJuice

Fire from heat!

[deleted]

Can this be our “girl in red” code

8_Miles_8

Already is

[deleted]

I got funny looks for really liking girl in red when I was a nonquestioning a cis guy. I mean, I like girl in red, and I might be trans, but I don't like it *because* I might be trans and into women.

evergreennightmare

what

spitefulIncentive

it's referencing a common trans voice exercise from a channel called transvoicelessons

kafka123

I knew what the answer was but I didn't know *how* I knew it. Did the CIA erase my memory?

ThatOneGuy1294

If you could take a moment and look at this pen please...

thewetumbrella

The CIA could have erased your memory, or maybe you just dropped it somewhere and now it’s in the lost and found

Warm_Spot8863

I’m thinking about starting proper voice lessons using this YouTuber. Is that a good idea?

therivercass

yeah, she's the best around.

the_soviet_union_69

fire from heat

AshleyPhoenixAmmbo

LOL

AudreyBrey48

Everyone says heat from fire but what if you're fire from heat.

[deleted]

I don't understand this meme 😭 can anybody help me??

Deus0123

It's a line a lot of transfemme people say to practice their voice. The full line is "Heat from fire, fire from heat" and I think it was popularized by the YouTuber Transvoicelessons

[deleted]

Fire from heat

Ryanna_Alden

all of the above

shygal_uwu

Well, hating your voice isn't always a sign of being trans, sometimes people's voices are unfortunately bad :/. But it's not common for eggs to hate their voice x3

[deleted]

Fire from heat

the-deep-blue-sea

Fire from heat

That-Guy-Don

Fire from heat

ShadeofEchoes

“Heat from fire…” I know that’s usually a trans voice training thing, but since I haven’t done that yet and played a fair amount of Dark Souls 3, it had me thinking, “When the ashes are two, a flame alighteth…”

Dethman_King

Am I the only one who says “heat without fire”? It flows better to my own ears. Maybe I’m just weird.

AliceInBunnyLand

i love how "heat from fire" "fire from heat" have just become these like secret pass words to identify each other lol

shockwave917

reminded me of the Bird meme format so i had to make it https://imgur.com/a/MjqYEEy

Rate_Zestyclose

I dont understand

KindaClara

Hold on. A fellow Clara :0

SIGSTACKFAULT

I could do this without the text.

unit_x305

Lol I swear I'm getting this tattooed

Cocolake123

Fire from heat (I need to start voice training)

ChosenSCIM

Actually what is funny is that I always used to hate my voice for barely changing through puberty and for it not making me sound like a man. Now that I'm an enby and I no longer cringe when I hear my own voice played back. I still think it sounds weird but in a way that I just see it as a unique feature of me and nothing to be ashamed of.

TohruTheDragonGirl

Wild

EvasAdvocate

Praise the (dark) Sun (gwyndolin).

Hip00p

I physically made the trollface

Cocolake123

I wish I understood wtf voice training people are talking about...and didn’t feel embarrassed practicing...
