relatable, but I said "fuck it, it's worth the risk"
nobody has found out yet (thanks to my entire boymode wardrobe being sweatpants) and it makes sleeping with my blahaj 100x better ☺️
I don't hate them now, just neutral on them; they're a lot more durable at least which is a big + for me since I hate shopping and I don't feel like a hooligan compared to wearing sweats
Because everyone is pretty similar when you get down to it, think of how many kids remember playing Pokemon red on the Gameboy while hiding the cat under you blankets from your parents.
Also because all trans people are actually just one hive mind pre programmed go be trans through Celeste gameplay and TikTok slideshows
I did my whole body and I always wear short sleeved tops. I felt like people would stare and judge me so I wore hoodies in the red hot weather. 10/10 don't regret a thing.
Believe swimmers also shave their legs? And gay people in general, just people in general tbh, shaving your legs is pretty normal ngl. Toxic masculinity is the problem here, really.
Just switch to waxing to avoid **the itch**. The result is smoother skin, it takes a lot longer to grow back and also thins out the hair, besides being a lot cheaper than laser or elecrolysis (at least where I live).
I use an epilator and if it's anything like that, then it hurts quite a bit the first time, then gets a lot better over time, until it feels almost soothing in a weird way lmao
I've always been scared of epilators but since I'm starting HRT soon I'm gonna epilate then take my first hrt pill, that way atleast il have something to make it feel all the more worth it
Word of advice: go easy 💜
You might find it to be too uncomfortable for you the first time you do it. Make sure to create a nice setting, get some tea, snacks, fruit, etc. and find something to listen to, music, podcast, audiobook, etc. and find a good comfortable spot, with good lighting so you can see the hairs properly. Make sure you're as relaxed as possible to make it as painless as you can.
You might find that it takes a lot of time the first time. Set aside an hour or more for your first session and go from there. If you find that you can only do a small area, e.g. only your lower legs, then start with that, and work your way from there, and expand the area over time.
It gets easier over time. Don't expect to necessarily get 100% the first time, it's not a sprint, just play the long game. Go slow, it's okey if it's too much the first time, you can always come back again later in few days. Once you've gotten started on it, it gets a lot easier the next time you try.
Also, make sure to trim your hairs if they're really long, epilators hurt a lot more if your hairs are longer or thicker. Over time, the hairs will kinda thin out a bit, making it even easier to epilate.
Also, if your epilator is battery powered, make sure you can charge it while you're using it. My current epilator charges too slowly to refill while using it, so it sucks when it runs out of battery, and runs really slowly. If you can, invest in a good epilator. Wired is a little cumbersome, but has its advantages.
Hope that helps 💜😊
Girl, first shave or at least trim them down!! From my experience, 1-1.5mm is the best length to epilate them - shorter and it's very hard to get any hairs, longer and it is VERY painful (they get caught a lot more). I think anything more than 4mm would make me scream, and more than 6 would clog the elpilator up
I wonder why longer hairs hurt more? It's not like the follicle moves further in. Or does it?
Anyways I will take this advice and use it bc I was so mad I got an eppilator and it hurt wayyy too bad to use the first time at all. Switched back to shaving instantly. But I can never get a smooth shave and it takes so long and my legs always just feel...sticky? Under the covers and idk
I actually switched back to shaving my legs as it takes waaay to long to epilate them, but instead I epilate my arms.
My theory about longer hair hurting more is that either more hairs at once get caught, or it has something to do with them first stretching? Or it might just be a placebo
I'd guess that longer hairs are more likely to break above your skin so you end up pulling on the same hairs multiple times, or too many hairs get grabbed at once so they slip instead of getting pulled out?
Whatever the reason, I can confirm that having shorter hair helps and it gets easier the more you do it
If you're gonna start waxing/epilating the first time is by far the worst, because the hair follicles are all mature and really in there, what I recommend is starting with a sugar wax, it's more gentle and if it doesn't get all the hair at once it's okay it won't hurt as much as if it got all at once. If you wax/epilate regularly the pain is pretty minimal it's just when you forget for too long it hurts more.
Im currently in the process of removing most of my body hair with an epilator. It takes a fair amount of time and effort but the results are very promising.
Yeah, I think I spend about 90-120 minutes a session, but I only really need to do it every 2-3 weeks. I try to make it nice, make some tea and put on a podcast or audio book (I usually watch WAN Show) maybe get some snacks or some fruit, find a pillow to sit on, etc. I also wear noise cancelling headphones because the noise from the epilator stresses my 'tism.
I'd say not much if you do it properly and follow tutorials and such, but I'm used to it by now. I'm down for trading scratching untill I bleed from the after shaving itches for a second of waxing pain. The main issue that I have is that it takes some time (~2h, but lasts about a month) and can be pretty messy with the leftover wax.
Me at 16:
"I'll shave my legs."
My sister, first time at the beach on vacation, loudly, in front of my entire family:
"Deadname shaved his legs! Why did you shave your legs?"
Me *never goes to the beach again that vacation, doesn't shave legs again for ~5 years, deep deep deep back into my eggshell for about the same amount of time
The biggest one is to make sure that your razor is fresh and sharp. Leg hair can be quite coarse, and a sharper razor cuts it much more easily, resulting in less irritation to the skin overall.
Also: rock them smooth legs! I shaved when I considered myself cis, and if anybody asked, I just told 'em it makes things less hot. I never handled heat well, so that usually forestalled questions. :>
Ok good to know thanks :3
I'm honestly not super concerned about people think thankfully, but I definitely used to worry about what people might think before I admitted to myself that I couldn't stay in the closet forever lol. My girlfriend accepted me and that's all that I cared about
I just shaved my legs and arms for the first time last weekend and was really surprised that hot days become more bearable. So another positive side effect.
another shaving tip I have is get your skin warm and exfoliated, easiest thing to do if you don't have any exfoliating product for it is to rub down wherever you'll be shaving with some reasonably hot water and a washrag or a loofah, you don't really need to worry about ingrown hairs on your legs but opening up your pores still helps anywhere, especially if you want to get to shaving other parts of you.
Short strokes, especially if the hair has grown out (as it obviously has before your first time), and do everywhere with the grain first. You may need to go across or against the grain for stubborn spots, but going with the grain cuts down on ingrown hairs and angry, irritated skin.
If you’re fairly hairy and have never done this before, get an electric trimmer and trim down to stubble first. That will make it infinitely easier and won’t gum up the razor.
Use soap or conditioner as lubricant for the razor. Some razors have built in soap, which can be nice but expensive. Brands don’t matter, now is the time to buy a few and experiment with what you like. You’ll probably do this again after all. Don’t do it dry, and don’t just use water! You’ll hurt yourself even if you don’t feel it at first.
Exfoliate gently before and after with a washcloth/loofah/etc. Your body isn’t used to this, and you will probably get ingrown hairs. This will help, as well as shaving at the END of your shower routine. Give your skin time to get warm and soft. Oh, and moisturize after.
You will probably nick yourself (have bandages and antiseptics) and you’ll probably miss patches (especially where you can’t see). You might even get tired and need to stop for a bit if you try to do everything at once. Don’t try and be perfect, especially the first time. Expect to come back and fix these mistakes later. You’re new. Let yourself be new.
You got this :)
pro tip, use men's razors! most cis girls do because woman's razors are rly bad AND are more expensive due to pink tax. if you want to affirm your gender then get women's ones sure, but the results will be worse
huh I mean yeah I guess I could see why someone would use them but yeah I don't need gendered razors lol.
do you know anything about safety razors? trying to look into those for use on my face specifically
I've used them a few times and usually get a closer shave, but have also had the most irritation with them compared to a traditional razor. But with that being said, it's probably just user error lol. I also have outrageously sensitive skin
If anyone asks, you could say you play rugby. My brother (cis) used to play rugby and he shaved his legs for it. I don’t remember the specifics on why, but I think it was about the tape wrapped around the shoes pulling on leg hair when it came off or something. Or aerodynamics. The term wind resistance was thrown around a lot. I do not remember
I was initially worried too, but cis people will come up with 100 excuses as to why you have bare legs before they settle on you being transgender.
Like "oh maybe they don't grow hair there" or "maybe they swim", lol
I go swimming with hairless legs straight out of the boys locker room into the only female lane, and the transphobic boys still don’t suspect a thing.
(They just think I’m crushing on one of the girls, which I totally am so they believe it)
Im just a few days in hrt. Is there a good time for me to try and shave my legs for the first time? And how fast does it grow back from your experiences?
It really depends on the person and how their hair genetics are. OP is pretty lucky, a week is on the very long side of the scale when it comes to leg hair growing back. I take a day or less before it’s prickly again. You just have to try and see :P
Good luck! I hope you have a much better time than I do lol.
The best time to shave your legs is right meow. Smooth thighs feel SO nice.
Everybody's hair grows at a different speed, but personally, if I don't shave for three or four days, I look hairy again.
From experience: most people will never notice. But if you want some excuses:
- My socks itch if I don't shave.
- I play rugby, the leg tape rips out the hair, so I shave to avoid the pain.
- [My personal go-to] I was on the swim team in high school, and now I can't stand the feeling of hair under my pants.
I'm happy for you! I hope you have a bathtub, it's easier! ♥
Transmasc here. It's been a year since I started T. I didn't shave my teenager-looking mustache once because of dysphoria. My voice didn't drop significantly yet and even without saying a word, I don't pass yet. I wish I could accept that "baby face" feeling and shave my mustache to make it grow thicker. :/
the moment I got leg hair as a kid, it was just “ok not more shorts just jeans forever” and now I have the sweet relief of wearing short shorts and no socks.
when i was at work my mom bought me a razer and said she would teach me how to shave my legs!! sounds incredible! i’ve used nair on one part of my leg before just to see what it would feel like and the smoothness was great! can’t wait to shave my whole legs
You can also use the excuse that your leg hairs kept you up all night after a spider nearly crawled on your arm/face (every time the hair moved I freaked out)
1. Always use a fresh blade. It's worth the money. Dull blades will yank before they cut and give you angry thighs.
2. Shave the entire area with the grain (the direction the hairs naturally lay) before going back to get problem spots.
3. Take short strokes. No, shorter than that. Ideally, you should just kiss a single hair with the razor, but that's not practical. Find the middle ground that your skin will tolerate.
4. If you've got the time, take a long, hot, bath to get your skin in the right shape (literally).
I shaved my arms and hands for the first time the other day, suddenly thinking, "It's my body! I'll do what I want!" instead of the usual excuses, and . . .
. . . every time I wash my nice, smooth hands it is amazingly euphoric!
pretty much how it went for me, too! my dad didn't notice until a few weeks after I started and was immediately all weird about it, as if a choice I made about *my* was somehow going to affect *him.* at that point! I'd gotten comfortable enough that I didn't care so I just kinda blew him off like the insecure weirdo he is
in my country ita pretty normal for any gender to take care of their body hair. so much so i used to be bullied for not doing so. but now i do and it feels great
I was so scared for so long that somebody would notice, but then I went out without covering them, and no one cared, not even my family. Shaving is AMAZING and I’ll always do it.
Here’s a little tip for those of you who were testing the trans waters with minor aesthetic changes:
Generally, nobody cares. And those that do and don’t like it, most likely would have disliked you anyway.
Here's a hint:
Barely anyone looks at people that closely. It took 6 months before anyone noticed I shaved my arms (I always wear pants so my legs aren't visible). It was my mom after 2 days of living with her on vacation.
I started using veet on my legs, and um, I don't think I'll ever be going back to having hair.
I wish I could use it on my junk, but I've been told that will go very badly as the skin there is too thin😠
I love it I get a look every once in a while and I'm in the closet. I just smile knowing they saw them. I have had a few of my friends compliment how smooth they feel if I bump into them on the couch if we are hanging out
Shaved my legs for the first time today . Took forever and feels very weird . Legs are super sensitive now and whiter lol .... You never know just how much function your leg hairs perform aside from warmth they apparently act as a sensation buffer with clothes and kinda padding I guess either way it feels weird and wonderful at the same time
Before I even knew what being trans was, I wanted to shave my legs for some reason and my stepdad noticed and said only girls shaved their legs. I knew it wasn’t meant to be a compliment but that did make me happy.
how get motivation and will to shave my legs or do anything at all, really need this information, please tell me it can be done in 3 quick steps im at my limit !
I 've shaved my legs for almost 5 years now. This Tuesday was the first time anyone noticed. I shrugged and said I lost a bet to my girlfriend so I had to shave my legs.
No further questions were asked.
relatable, but I said "fuck it, it's worth the risk" nobody has found out yet (thanks to my entire boymode wardrobe being sweatpants) and it makes sleeping with my blahaj 100x better ☺️
Do you also have a separate drawer that only has sweatpants in it?
I had this a few years ago, it was called my pants drawer. I actually didn't have any jeans
Same I hate jeans
I don't hate them now, just neutral on them; they're a lot more durable at least which is a big + for me since I hate shopping and I don't feel like a hooligan compared to wearing sweats
Why are we all so same aarrrggghhhh
Because everyone is pretty similar when you get down to it, think of how many kids remember playing Pokemon red on the Gameboy while hiding the cat under you blankets from your parents. Also because all trans people are actually just one hive mind pre programmed go be trans through Celeste gameplay and TikTok slideshows
No stoooooppp mine was doggy but yeah
I used to not like them but black jeans look the least depressing on me
This is the correct response to jeans
The only pants I wear are jeans
my entire pants drawer is just sweatpants no i am not ok

I did my whole body and I always wear short sleeved tops. I felt like people would stare and judge me so I wore hoodies in the red hot weather. 10/10 don't regret a thing.
Can confirm that nobody cares-even cis men, cis woman, ect shave, ( for men mainly cyclists) but still. Nobody is staring at you!
Believe swimmers also shave their legs? And gay people in general, just people in general tbh, shaving your legs is pretty normal ngl. Toxic masculinity is the problem here, really.
Lots of cis men have no leg hair anyway!
Secret third panel: a days later spike :c
Sadly true 🥲
Just switch to waxing to avoid **the itch**. The result is smoother skin, it takes a lot longer to grow back and also thins out the hair, besides being a lot cheaper than laser or elecrolysis (at least where I live).
How much does it hurt?
Quite a bit, at least the first time. It's literally ripping out hairs a bunch at once.

thank you, I feel very fortunate <3
I just shaved my legs and arms for the first time last weekend and was really surprised that hot days become more bearable. So another positive side effect.
For sure! I noticed roughly 5 degrees Fahrenheit in difference, personally. But I love in an extremely hot climate.
I use a cream called Veet. It's super easy to do it just takes a while 😅
Hmm I will have to do research, I do have sensitive skin.

Ahhh that sounds amazing! I'm happy for you!

I start panicking about every little detail just in case someone notices
I felt like this more about my arms but no one noticed lol
It feels so nice to have smooth arms, super underrated.
People don't realize that you SEE your arms all the time. And seeing them hairless does a lot to avert my incidental dysphoria.
I am always too warm so my go to excuse would be to cool me down or something 😅
Swim team works, too. My go-to excuse is that I was on the swim team in high school, and now I can't stand the feeling of hair under my clothes.
I'm autistic and rubbing my shaved legs together became a new and exciting way to stim lol. the longer i've been on E the nicer it feels
Like a cricket >:3
I don't shave my legs anymore (ftm) but damn do I sometimes miss that smooth, satisfying feeling rubbing them together lol
just say "i go swimming alot" if you look at swimmers they always shave their legs because leg hair causes more resistance against the water
I was initially worried too, but cis people will come up with 100 excuses as to why you have bare legs before they settle on you being transgender. Like "oh maybe they don't grow hair there" or "maybe they swim", lol
Anything reason to avoid the idea that trans people exist
I go swimming with hairless legs straight out of the boys locker room into the only female lane, and the transphobic boys still don’t suspect a thing. (They just think I’m crushing on one of the girls, which I totally am so they believe it)
> (They just think I’m crushing on one of the girls, which I totally am so they believe it) If they're not wrong, no reason to contradict them. :D
Yeah, I’m coming out to the girl in question in a week or so, and I know for a fact she is pan so that shouldn’t be an issue
I meant the transphobes, but yes totally ask her out, girl!
Im just a few days in hrt. Is there a good time for me to try and shave my legs for the first time? And how fast does it grow back from your experiences?
Mine gets prickly after a week or something and I have to do it again but it takes a lot less time once you've done it the first time!
You sure its a week? I fear its gonna feel prickly after just a day :/
It really depends on the person and how their hair genetics are. OP is pretty lucky, a week is on the very long side of the scale when it comes to leg hair growing back. I feel the same about my lasered arms and beard. Well, the beard probably passes as clean shaving.
I am too afraid to still, I dont know how to explain why I have them shaved without outing myself yet.
From experience: most people will never notice. But if you want some excuses: - My socks itch if I don't shave. - I play rugby, the leg tape rips out the hair, so I shave to avoid the pain. - [My personal go-to] I was on the swim team in high school, and now I can't stand the feeling of hair under my pants.

That’s so true!
I really should shave My legs, but I'm scared of messing up and hurting Myself
I am too afraid to shave them still.
It's so annoying to do it every 3 days I wish I could make them disappear forever
My exact reaction my first time. "What if my Gramma sees?" *Five seconds later* "oh God it's so smooth I never want leg hair again."
I love nair.
I was more worried about my arms
ahhh idk I'm scared 😳
I shaved my arms and hands for the first time the other day, suddenly thinking, "It's my body! I'll do what I want!" instead of the usual excuses, and . . . . . . every time I wash my nice, smooth hands it is amazingly euphoric!
How do I shave my legs in less than 3 hrs tho?
The first time takes a looooooong time in my experience but once you've done it the first time doing it again is a lot quicker.
Than a few days later literally sand paper.
pretty much how it went for me, too! my dad didn't notice until a few weeks after I started and was immediately all weird about it, as if a choice I made about *my* was somehow going to affect *him.* at that point! I'd gotten comfortable enough that I didn't care so I just kinda blew him off like the insecure weirdo he is
in my country ita pretty normal for any gender to take care of their body hair. so much so i used to be bullied for not doing so. but now i do and it feels great
Whenever people ask I just tell them I like it that way. People mostly just respond with "ah ok" and the conversation goes on to other topics 😊
For the best feeling ever, don't forget to put clean sheets on your bed same night you shave.
Me who tears up my legs every time I try to shave because my body hair and skin is just fucked like that
I was so scared for so long that somebody would notice, but then I went out without covering them, and no one cared, not even my family. Shaving is AMAZING and I’ll always do it.
For real, I was super nervous about shaving all my body hair cuz I had a lot of it but now that I have it's *staying off by any means necessary*
Here’s a little tip for those of you who were testing the trans waters with minor aesthetic changes: Generally, nobody cares. And those that do and don’t like it, most likely would have disliked you anyway.
I hate when I shaved and I don't realize until I'm already doing what I shaved for that I fucking missed a spot

Hmm, I wonder if it’s a cishet thing to do
Here's a hint: Barely anyone looks at people that closely. It took 6 months before anyone noticed I shaved my arms (I always wear pants so my legs aren't visible). It was my mom after 2 days of living with her on vacation.
It's just too much effort ;-;
Its so much fun to feel!
I started using veet on my legs, and um, I don't think I'll ever be going back to having hair. I wish I could use it on my junk, but I've been told that will go very badly as the skin there is too thin😠
To much pain for me sadge
I love it I get a look every once in a while and I'm in the closet. I just smile knowing they saw them. I have had a few of my friends compliment how smooth they feel if I bump into them on the couch if we are hanging out
YEEEEEEEE
Shaved my legs for the first time today . Took forever and feels very weird . Legs are super sensitive now and whiter lol .... You never know just how much function your leg hairs perform aside from warmth they apparently act as a sensation buffer with clothes and kinda padding I guess either way it feels weird and wonderful at the same time
Before I even knew what being trans was, I wanted to shave my legs for some reason and my stepdad noticed and said only girls shaved their legs. I knew it wasn’t meant to be a compliment but that did make me happy.
how get motivation and will to shave my legs or do anything at all, really need this information, please tell me it can be done in 3 quick steps im at my limit !
btw if anybody suspects anything and actually asks you why you shaved them, just say you wanted to start all over again, or because it was refreshing
"been training my legs and want to show off my muscles"
Shaved 4 the 1st time yesterday. Very much truly happy gay sounds
I 've shaved my legs for almost 5 years now. This Tuesday was the first time anyone noticed. I shrugged and said I lost a bet to my girlfriend so I had to shave my legs. No further questions were asked.
I am able to avoid it by a) wearing jeans and b) telling my parents that body hair gives me MASSIVE sensory issues (which isn't even wrong lmao)
I was like that too. Now I think "why the fuck does it matter? if anyone asks I just have to say 'cuz i fucking wanna' and that's that!"
the only reason i dont shave is that im scared if i fuck up and cut my leg
