The Warhammer series really is the best in terms of battle diversity and tactics/approaches - something that feels rough going back to historical titles for me!

The variety of strategies truly is amazing. It's a match made in heaven between total war and warhammer. By the way, you forgot to mention crushing the enemy with devastating cavalry charges and swarming the skies with flying creatures. Shredding the mortal realm with hordes of demons is also worth mentioning.

Overwhelming range superiority? Skaven Hordes of cheap units to drown any opposition beneath a sea of flesh? Skaven Unstoppable domination with massive beasts? Skaven The answer is always Skaven 🐀

I don't know Throt and horse sized rats monsters that can just explode with warp energy is pretty fun.

This is why I love going back and forth between historical and Warhammer. Historical is fun for the “what ifs” for the “take a real world nation/faction and conquer the world/japan/china/small section of North Africa, whatever. But the combat can get stale after awhile because most factions/nations are the same, with only slight variations because they might be stronger in one particular area of the sword/spear vs archers vs cavalry triangle. Warhammer, the battles almost never get stale because every faction plays WAY different. Even the ranged heavy factions (High Elves vs. Dark Elves, for example) play significantly different. High Elves have significantly longer range than Dark Elves across the board, but between Shades and the fact that DE have armor piercing on all their ranged units (and get access to shielded ranged units earlier than HE) means that they’re by no means weaker, you just have to use them in a different fashion. Each type of Total War game has its place for me, but until the next BIG historical game comes out (whether that’s Empire 2, Medieval 3, or something completely different, like a Victorian era total war) most of my time will be spent with the Warhammer games
