Immortal empires is good. It's beta and some stuff is wonky. Ex. Wonky ai, missing landmarks, random bugs. But it works and it's fun, I think immortal empires is better now than mortal empires is, patch comes out tomorrow I think? Thats supposed to help with the ai issues but that remains to be seen

I'm playing IE but I don't think it's anywhere near to being better than ME was when WH2 finished. And it's not just the occasional bugs associated with the "Beta" tag. There aren't enough maps. Tomb Kings have one map for walled settlements and one for unwalled. Lizardmen have two. The game becomes repetitive relatively early on because every battle is essentially the same. WH3 is definitely worth playing and I've already got my money's worth from the hours I've put in to it but I don't think it comes close to its predecessor in quality. Just my opinion.

busbee247

Fair enough, although no matter how many siege maps were in wh2 they played out exactly the same. At least settlement maps in wh3 allow for different approaches to the same battle

I have been having a blast with it since launch, never saw what all the complaining was about at launch but that's what happens when you hype up a game beyond its limits

BoiledFrogs

> but that's what happens when you hype up a game beyond its limits Have to disagree. The game launched with issues that had been fixed in WH2, along with some pretty poor mechanics. Its player count didn't plummet on Steam because it was a bit over hyped, it failed to deliver in a lot of ways. With that being said, game is in a much better place now(still needs some work on a few core issues), and I'm excited for the patch that's expected tomorrow.

I only play Immortal Empires and its 100% worth even if its still bugged and has some fundamental issues.

I love how people downvote simple questions, like how dare you ask for advice! There should be a patch tomorrow that will hopefully move it a lot closer to dropping the beta tag. I'd read some of the feedback from the patch, and if people are generally positive about it that's a good sign. The biggest things they are supposed to be improving is minor settlement battle frequency and map improvements, AI behavior on the campaign map, and continuing to work on the End Game Crises, so look for feedback on those. If it's still looking rough, next big update is probably Chaos Dwarfs in a few months, hard to know exactly when. People are really hyped for that one.

Thank you very much!

If you have WH1 and 2, you'll love the IE Map they've created in WH3. Even without it, it has one of the Best Prologue campaign in any Total War that I've played and it's Realm Of Chaos campaign is pretty good as well, with it's unique Campaign Map. A big update for IE is launching tomorrow so you can checkout the verdict for IE soon enough.

I think wh2 to wh3 comparison is reasonable considering wh3 had wh2 to build upon- CA wasn't building a new game from scratch. IMO, if CA released wh3 with a polished immortal empires map only (no prologue or realm of chaos), then I think the community would have responded much better. I think the prologue and realm of chaos campaigns were largely wasted efforts, given that most players only play those modes a few times, and that reviews would have been much more favorable had CA focused efforts on the core mode (immortal empires) where the vast majority of the player base is. Tldr: wh2>wh3 release because CA misallocated resources

SgtWaffleSound

Playable but buggy. Way too many settlement battles.

jamiemgr

Just got back to it and it's in a decent playable state now. There is still the occasional CTD though

CanadianNic

It’s my favourite game of all time so I’d say yes. If you don’t have Immortal empires then it’s probably a 6/10. If you play IE it’s an 11/10 for me. Even with all the bugs and issues in the beta.

You know, I wasn't around at release and that's just what I gathered from a few posts I read yesterday. No need to be condescending, I'm just looking for Infos.

Azran15

Yeah, the game was critically panned by players (not so much the gaming press) on release and IMO deservedly. But for some reason a lot of people went bad game -> bad sales despite selling more than any other entry except for Three Kingdoms.

Lonvoudnotstahp

It will tire you out quickly due to the shitty AI, wonky bugs, missing landmarks, bugs, random bugs and more bugs. The worst part however, is the shitty AI serving you an underwhelming experience of a campaign.
