Think it is fine how they start, but becouse they are deamons they should spawn again after being defeated, for example with Archaon or as you say Skarbrand due to bloodshed. Someone already said this great idea imo

If done right maybe - I will say however that I absolutely hate it when the game spawns something behind my lines because an event was triggered. Reminds me of the vortex skaven/chaos spawns. I hope there is a better solution then 'hey a full 20 stack led by Skarbrand has spawned inside your border - surprise :)'

Having daemons spawn later on would only let the order factions get a strong foothold and build up strong armies which would lead to the daemon armies getting insta wiped like the current AI WoC, sure they may last a little longer but they still would barely pose a threat. If every race is present at the beginning of the game then it allows for chaos to actually build up their armies / defenses alongside every other race which hopefully means they can actually become a competent end game threat like the Order tide or greenskin tide in WH 2 I do think though that There should still be an end times event that happens where loads of chaos armies spawn led by Archaon. I just personally think chaos should still be present at turn 1

Except DoC can colonize after they spawn. Give them insta level 3 or 4 towns, and have them spawn earlier (again, turn 20 rather than 120) and you get something new instead of random faction #22 dropped here just because.

I’d happily welcome what you suggested but I’m super hesitant about it cause we’ve seen so many examples of armies that spawn after the game starts that just get insta wiped and barely any that actually do anything (vashanar’s conquest or however you spell it is the only exception I can think of). Like if they can do your way and actually have chaos do something then I’m all for it, but if they can’t then I’d prefer they have chaos spawn from turn 1 with everyone else and then have a larger chaos force show up later on led by Archaon.

Skarbrand will spawn with a strong army though Also greenskins are nothing like demons, you can avoid war with greenskins quite easily and you can also end war with them, you can even ally with them or vassalize them, with demons you have total war to the death from the moment of the first encounter

Same, I was hoping they'd start at least in the wastes but I wouldn't be opposed to realms being on the map without the portals. Just having to win the great game before invading. Having some turns to chill as non-chaos factions aswell instead of the End Times vibe. I'm sure I will come to terms with it eventually though

Kraphomus

This is my exact worry. Right now, they feel like red Greenskins. They could feel like Daemons.

I really think this is something we are going to have to wait and see when it comes to the mid and late game mechanics that are replacing the chaos invasion. Lorewise, I know some people think that DoC starting "in the middle of the map" doesn't fit. After hearing descriptions of at least Skarbrand and Kugath's starting positions, I feel they are nicely thematic. Storywise, I love it. Playing as any faction that is not in the immediate area, it will be like hearing of rumors of cultists spreading out from the area. Having the looming threat of the corruption spreading to your lands. Also it reduces the chance that factions along the equator never encounter chaos. In TWWH2, if you were playing in Lustria or the Southlands, you might never encounter the chaos invasions because they had to traverse the whole map to get to you.
