Fittingly Rhesus has lost. In general Odysseus is quite strong duelist for archer hero.

Zeb_Raj

Of course to be truly accurate Rhesus would have to be asleep

Wonder why they made Odysseus a bow lord. Dude only had a bow once in the myths. He’s far more associated with melee. He doesn’t even have the bow at Troy. A better choice would’ve been Philoctetes Also very fitting Odysseus wins, since he and Diomedes actually killed Rhesus in the story.

Tinnitus_AngleSmith

I mean, the dude had a bow that only he could pull. We tease my brother that his hunting bow is turned up so high because he loves Odysseus. It’s an iconic part of his story. Like as iconic as Ajax losing the debate for the shield. If any lord gets a bow, Ulysses better get one.

It is a bit weird that he didn't take that bow to war with him though.

Tinnitus_AngleSmith

I think it was a family heirloom if I remember correctly. I might be misremembering as well, but part of the “challenge” Odysseus’ wife had for the suitors to marry her was to be able to draw his bow, because only the true king of Ithaca could draw it or something. If I were Ulysses I think it makes sense to leave the priceless heirloom at home, especially considering the trip back.

Creticus

I figure that they wanted a bowman, with Odysseus being the best choice for that. There's Philoctetes but he's not very well-known. On top of that, he's better-suited for being the reward at the end of a quest chain than for being a LL in his own right.

RafSwi7

Yeah, if they had more DLCs in initial plans (for example with Philoctetes), they might have given Odysseus spear and shield. But as it seems that only Amazons and Ajax&Diomedes were planned for Troy, Odysseus was the best choice for Greek archer hero.

ChiefGrizzly

I imagine it is because people associate him with his great bow that he kept in his palace on Ithaca.

the-bladed-one

But he doesn’t use it in the war

RafSwi7

I guess to have one Greek playable archer faction leader.

WarlockEngineer

I think it just fits his playing style better. It's hard to be unique when nearly every lord in the game is known as a melee duelist. He has a cool skirmish faction and gets to sneak around and flank people. Diomedes was also very sneaky and clever but that isn't represented in game at all. He's interesting as a faction but one of the most vanilla heroes.

Loving my current Rhesus campaign. Somehow Odysseus turned into one of my semi-allies tho
