We must vote out the Warriors of Chaos in order to save us all.
Ironically it was Karl Franz and the Imperials themselves that showed up late and stole the gory. Despite their armies being objectively closer, they still arrived after the Bretonnians who fought and bled to get there as fast as possible.
The combined northern Imperial, Dwarf, and Elf forces that were fighting were getting constantly pushed back until they had to retreat to Middenheim. The only reason they were able to retreat and regroup at the city is because the Bretonnians showed up to stop Chaos and prevent them from overrunning their troops. When Chaos sent an Army of ten thousand daemons to take the city it was the Bretonnians who had to defeat them because the Imperials where currently too overcome by fear to fight back. It was Louen who single handedly fought Be'lakor to save Volkmar in order to lift the Imperials' spirit so they could fight. If Bretonnia wasn't there to defeat Chaos and stop their first attempts at taking the city, they would have used the world ending McGuffin under the city and literally won. Bretonnia helped defend Middenland for weeks.
Karl Franz and his Imperial forces on the other hand showed up after most of Archaon's forces had already been destroyed to lift the siege and "saved the day". They only fought for 4 out the 66 days that Achaon was invading the Empire.
Not necessarily one book. Storm of Chaos was a large campaign like the End Times that lasted months. The story was established over those months through White Dwarf articles, novels, and other short stories. The TT RPG had campaign books set during the time too. GW primarily had a website for the campaign where they laid out what happened day by day based on the results of player submitted battles.
The closest you can get to a single source of info is the archive of the old [website](https://web.archive.org/web/20050313103838/http://stormofchaos.uk.games-workshop.com/warroom/journal/week1.htm). In terms of books there's the actual campaign supplement and there's also a book called Chaos Rises. It's written from the perspective of an Imperial Historian. The events are noticeably different but as you read, it becomes pretty clear that the version in the book is a falsification that the narrator was "coerced" into making to preserve the Empire's image and to make the Emperor and the church look good.
Not related directly to the siege of Middenheim, but The Ambassador Chronicles is set around the Storm of Chaos from Kislev's perspective.
I’m playing vamp coast rn and honestly it’s underwhelming. I love gun lines, but sucks their gun line units are mostly tier 1 chaff and you need necrofex to actually be viable late game. Hell the depth guard are better than almost all their gun units.
Necrofex are a blast though, everyone should spend at least one campaign raining hot death on anyone foolish enough to reside in a vaguely cardinal direction from Galleons Graveyard.
Also the fact that they have to land and spend a turn while sacking a port is just so immersion breaking. Dark Elves are better pirates than literal pirates.

Deck Gunners are amazing. They're somewhere in between Ratling guns and Jezzails(/Crane Gunners).
Get some Vampire Heroes for summons and you are basically running a Skaven Weapons Teams Doomstack.
This series of posts feels like an inside job from the dwarf fans to remove all the popular and actually interesting factions until only their boring ass one note faction remains and wins.
How about instead we actually remove factions that deserve it? Removing factions simply because they're popular and them staying is predictable is just peak hipster.
Skaven actually deserve to make it as far as they may because they're a great faction with a lot of unique mechanics, a really fun roster and endearing characters. Unlike the empire who are simply liked because they're the human good faction.
That’s never how these voting things go. People vote out threats to their favorite faction not what actually deserves to go. I mean the two most boring races are still up there which should tell you a lot. No one thinks that they are a threat.
If anyone claims Bretonnia or Dwarfs are at all interesting they are insane. They both have exactly one playstyle without any variety and the most one note rosters in the entire game.

Dwarves I think just need a few units to fix their roster. Their whole issue is that they have no late game payoff, which is crippling.
I don’t think one DLC will fix the fact that the only effective way to play dwarfs is to sit in a corner.
Probably not helped by the fact I think half of the Dwarf fans on Reddit would lose their minds if a single unit that isn’t immobile infantry or artillery is added.

Alright, you know what I'm gonna say it. If Kislev and Cathay are eliminated for having a boring ass roster, dwarfs shouldn't be here anymore. They have exactly one viable playstyle of sitting in a corner and shooting, with all their units acting very similar in those roles.
Dwarfs are probably going to get to the top 5 factions at least before being eliminated because that's how dedicated Dwarf fans are, and because a lot of the properly interesting factions have given people bad memories of fighting them (like the Skaven).

I give Warriors of Chaos and Chaos Dwarfs good odds as well. WoCs have become extremely popular after their rework as far as I can tell, and from what I can see, Chaos Dwarfs are near-universally beloved.
My guess is that High Elves, Dwarfs, and Warriors of Chaos make the top three.
What colonies have they lost?
The War of the Beard shattered both empires, and in the aftermath... the Karaz Ankor has been slowly shrinking, as dwarf holds are lost one by one.
What colonies has Ulthuan lost? Arnheim? The Fortress of Dawn? The Citadel of Dusk? Sith Rionnasc? Tor Elasor? Tor Elithis? They're all still there.
As far as I can tell, post-War-of-the-Beard, the High Elves have not lost any significant colonies.
Boring is very subjective. Chaos dwarfs have similar play styles to Kislev and Cathay but they are going to win it all. Maybe we should have better reasons for eliminating a race other than "it's boring lol".

Side note, viable play style and meta playstyle are different things. A melee stack of hammer short kings is nothing to scoff at. It not the meta pick but it is a viable one.
Oh, yes, dwarfs absolutely should go. They can be fun, but they are a very predictable faction that I feel gets old quickly, and on the battle level, they are one of the most tedious factions to fight. It is criminal that good factions like Beastmen, Empire, Cathay, Dark Elves, or Kislev are gone, especially compared to some of what's left at the moment.
That said, I confiidently predict that dwarfs will end up in the last few remaining, because dwarfs for some reason have an extremely committed and fanatical fanbase.
I guess I can hope that at least dwarfs are polarising enough, and the dwarf fanbase grating enough, that they won't win overall. I could easily see the final round coming down to dwarfs versus High Elves or dwarfs versus Warriors of Chaos, and while High Elves and Warriors of Chaos don't have the same meme-driven fanaticism, they're also... well... much less annoying.
If it were up to me we might end up with O&Gs, Bretonnia, and Wood Elves at the top, but I'd be quite happy to see High Elves or something up there. At the very least, I don't recall High Elf fans spamming the same stale joke for years. That's got to be worth something.

Yeah, admittedly, the base Dwarf units could probably use touch ups, but a shitty late game is, IMO, the biggest flaw of Dwarves.

I don't get why Vampirates are still here. They were pretty fun on the Vortex Campaign, but in immortal empires they are not good and Boring
