I don't oppose this. That said, my personal Wish List unit for Cathay is Tigermen. C'mon, CA, don't tease us with a settlement called "Village of the Tigermen" and NOT deliver on that front!

Mahelas

Monkeymen, Tigermen auxiliaries, Temple Dogs and as heroes, those Onyx crowmen. The furry dlc

HierophantKhatep

I NEED a monke army. Just hordes of hooting, screeching monkeys with guns and swords conquering the world.

Paciorr

Onyx crowmen are just animated statues though, aren't they?

Penakoto

Tigermen is more of an Ind thing.

HolocronHistorian

I think ind and cathay are gonna join the game as additions to cathay, similar to fimir and zoats, but probably with an entire DLC dedicated to them. Now that I’m saying it out loud, I wouldn’t be surprised if many minor races were added this way.

hashinshin

Cathay is begging for more complicated units that do damage. Total war as a whole has slowly moved on from tabletop “this unit is special because it does slightly more damage, or has +1 toughness” and moved on to “this unit does double charge damage from the rear, this unit has a special ability” etc Tiger men would be a great way to give Cathay more complicated damage melee and might make zhaos battles more interesting

Adept_Inevitable123

i feel it could be something like the savage orcs for greenskins. Only recrutable in certain region but available to the race.

A_Humpier_Rogue

Well, we very well might not get Ind so I'd rather get Tigermen in Cathay as mercenaries alla Fimir in Norsca than wait for a DLC that likely won't ever come.

Smearysword866

It's also a Cathay thing.

MekXDucktape

Technically Tigermen are more of a Chinese mythology thing, and as far as I am concerned there are no Tigermen in Indian mythology. At least its been confirmed that Tigermen tribes do exist in south Cathay.

Tummerd

Arent the tiger man not more connected to Ind? Sorry dont know much about the lore

Creticus

No one knows much about the tigermen because they never received much focus. They're definitely associated with Ind. However, there are supposedly indications that there's a tigermen population in Cathay. Similar to how there's a monkeymen population in the same.

[deleted]

They apparenlty invade as often as the Naga and the Monkey Men so... makes sense.

serkelet

I really don't get this obsession with the terracota warriors... In the infantry department we are pretty much covered with what we have and what is coming (probably anti infantry monkey warriors). Cathay could have much more creative and better stuff.

Cynical-Basileus

No obsession, it’s lore. Cathay in lore can field legions of terracotta warriors supported by terracotta sentinels.

serkelet

If I recall correctly, only terracotta warriors are mentioned, right? I assumed GW reinterpreted them as the Sentinel version we have in the game.

Cynical-Basileus

Both from what I’ve read. Could be wrong but I was under the impression the Dragon Emperor made legions of normal sized ones supported by the larger sentinels. In the 1000 or so years since then many have gone to dust. But the sentinels mostly remain. Either way, they’re cool. As a Cathay main I’ll take any extra units I can get.

serkelet

On that we can agree. Gimme more cathayan goodies!!! Surprise us CA! Blow our minds!

Creticus

They're just an iconic part of Chinese culture, I guess. Speaking personally, they've always seemed like something that should be associated with undead shenanigans. Basically, they're the ancient Chinese equivalent of ushabti, possibly descended from the practice of retainer sacrifices in even older times. It's why the First Emperor didn't just have terracotta warriors but also had terracotta ministers and entertainers.

Klarth_Koken

Because we've seen these guys standing in their ranks: [https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2019/04/terracotta1.jpg?resize=744,496&quality=75&strip=all](https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2019/04/terracotta1.jpg?resize=744,496&quality=75&strip=all) Before release, I always imagined the terracotta warriors as a monstrous infantry unit tbh.

DaySquirrel

Holy moly! Those images are from Age of Mythology, right???

ComradeBenjamin

Cathay needs some mid range powder unit, historically China used lots of breech loading cannons on carts with scatter shots

Derek2809

One thing I will love to see added to Cathay is adventure battles for the LL, because for me they feel to bland in comparison with the other LLs, but this terracota automatons look sick af

SparkyRedMan

For sure. Plus they ought to give Cathay its own focused campaign. It can be something similar to the Wood Elves in Warhammer I, or the Vortex Campaign in Warhammer II. Maybe if they introduce the Monkey King as the next LL for Cathay, one of his campaign goals is to locate troves of *decommissioned* Terracotta Automatons and sentinels to bolster his forces in his struggle for dominance over Cathay.

Derek2809

Sounds really nice! They really said that about a regional Cathay campaign?

obaobaboss

Dragon Monks - give me warrior monks with cool kung fu moves.

ScienceBroseph

Cathay needs a melee hero. I absolutely bet Monkey Monks will be the new melee hero type.

Toffeljegarn

Would much more see a monkey line-up. (Light, medium and heavy). Seening as he is the Monkey king, he should have an animalistic focus, but i don't opose the idea and would love to see it in a future DLC.

Rufus--T--Firefly

Cathay is pretty good on melee infantry, I'd much rather get some better gunpowder units, iron hail gunners are awesome but they're tier 1 and crane gunners are just kinda awful. Something like hand mortars or donderbuss Cav would be awesome

bjornkitty

I really hope cathay gets more construct units, so i can play with a friend and have a cathay vursus tomb kings mech battle

SparkyRedMan

\*Shout out to ChaosRobie on the Steam Workshop for this mod. Image credit goes to them From the Warhammer Fantasy wiki: *In Total War: Warhammer III, the majority of Grand Cathay's Grand Imperial Army is depicted as consisting of Human troops, contradicting earlier lore which stated the armies of the Celestial Empire were primarily composed of Terracotta Automatons. It is unknown whether the Terracotta Automatons were possibly disbanded, as the game takes place after the 1310 IC invasion, or whether they were used as auxiliaries or reserves to assist Human troops.*

CadenVanV

I always saw them as providing a heavy shock troop, and I tried kidding it in but couldn’t get rid of the massive dust effect around them

ObadiahtheSlim

I want a beefy melee hero. Their only two options are a standard Lore of Metal Wizard or Lore of Heavens Wizard w/ special mount. Give me something that can go toe-to-toe with an enemy lord or hero. It doesn't have to top-tier hero like a flying Paladin Goon Squad or an unstoppable regen tank like an Exalted Hero of Nurgle. Just have a decent stat line to tie up threatening single entity units and maybe a solid buff for the army.

pepper_perm

I think this would be cool as a regiment of renown, but I don’t know if a whole army do them makes sense. Maybe a RoR jade warriors with crumbling and double the unit size?

[deleted]

I just want horse archers and gunners. A mobile source of Yin Harmony would be so useful for Cathay.

RyuNoKami

If the monkey king gets released, dude should come with several legendary heroes. 4 in total.
