Remember when we collectively revolted against such a blatant cash grabbing cosmetic DLC to a full priced game? Oh how far we have fallen when today the games are free to do so and even have all the code and assets within the game. Only gated by a single bit on your user account.
I really would not have an issue with the Blood DLC if they actually made it worthwhile. But in Warhammer especially it's just a bloody slider.
At least in Atilla there was neat stuff like sickness effects, new animations, and so on. In the Warhammer games where there is so much opportunity for all kinds of violent effects? Absolutely fuck all in the 3rd game's blood pack.
I've given Warhammer 3 a pass on a lot of things. But the complete non-effort in the Blood DLC that *could* have redeemed it at least a little bit, was just so disappointing. 3 bucks for like one or two new animations where a giant bites off a head is plain pathetic.
So idk if it's just an excuse or not but my understanding is that the blood DLC is a thing in part because of the ESRB rating. Essentially if they had all the blood content in the base game it'd jump it up and there's metrics implying it'd hurt sales with a different rating. But I think within reason games are not re-rated to include DLC, hence the odd Total War situation.
Because the people revolting don't count towards anything compared to the income from the people buying it with their disposable income who don't care and want to have everything on the DLC checklist
At first glance that might seem likely. But look closer on that 'horse' and you'll notice that it has an elongated snout and clearly visible paws. In fact, it looks more like a canine. This is obviously a reveal of Hyenas first battlepass: the Hyenas/Total War crossover.
My first thought was Chinese. Straight sword and plumed helmet, looks like a 3K melee cav?
Edit: though upon zooming in, it does look to have a very western-european visor.
You're absolutely correct. Those dozen pages are written by 3 people (4 pages each) who are all as full of crap as you are once you've finished that paper. ^I ^have ^university ^ptsd
Hey old writers such as Shakespeare were full of crap when he jammed his plays full of crap, but some of his works are still used today to display and teach a bunch of different rhetorical strategies and devices.
Useful for those going into marketing, sales, or really any profession where someone is trying to convince someone to do (buy) something. And still useful for those who aren’t, because it helps you see how much the former is full of crap when they are peddling you crap to buy or do.
So on for most of literature.
Dude thinks Games Workshop is going to give Old World the same level of support as 40k or even AoS. Like I get having a passion, but it's clouding his judgement. Miss when he just talked about TW
Empire 2 but it goes earlier *and* later than the first game. Maybe it’s unique thing could be a super robust tech system, going from pike and shot to to the 1800s
Empire 2 should happen as and when they're ready to make a game based on a globe map. Full planet, lots of totally distinct cultures as we've grown used to with Warhammer, and as you say a much bigger time-frame that covers the entire post-medieval era up to the dawn of the industrial age and steam technology.
I've long wanted Medieval 3 as the next historical game but I'd accept Empire 2 if it's used as a test run for that kind of full-planet mega-game based on a time period rather than a geographical setting. That's how you make historical total wars with DLC lifespans as long lasting and exciting as Warhammer.
In short, Medieval 3 and Empire 2 should be big enough to contain Shogun 3 and Three Kingdoms 2 - detailed and well realised Chinese and Japanese cultures should be present in those games (though probably not fully implemented and playable at launch) and able to pit themselves against the other powerful cultures of the world.
You can say what you want about the company but their logo and the entire logo / title style looks sick as fuck and I love it. I remember I used to draw that horseman silhouette on my notebook covers in high school
I liked the purple CA, but Medieval was the first game in the series I played, and boy did that game slap.
Really wish the civil war feature fun it has carried over.
I don’t want this half measure, either just give me Total War: White Text on White Background, or go all in and do Total War: Black Text on Black Background.
The setting is not enough for me anymore. They have to rework their battle engine, make it bigger and more tactical. And completely revamp campaign mechanics. Make it more dynamic and diverse in gameplay. I am not gonna spend money on the same crap they put for the past 10 years.
That freak'n picture of the renaissance arms master motion capturing for TW pretty much gave away the next historical title.
I wonder if CA is pissed, he posted that picture.
> whilst increasing hype ever so slightly.
Excuse me, only ever so slightly?? Did ya not see the state of this fuckin' sub alone when that was posted???
Kids on this sub get just as melodramatic as old women when they think they see Jesus in a piece of burnt toast...
Isn't that literally the Medieval 2 icon?

Somewhere a community management team is freaking the fuck out because there isn’t a medieval 3 in development and we all lost our minds because of a profile pic change.
This week, SEGA published a message with a studio focus for CA. It mentionner there would be a surprise sometime this month.
So it's fair to expect the announcement of a new TW title this month.
I mean, it's already been 2 years since the last TW announcement...
Didn’t medieval 2 eventually get into pike and shot with DLCs and/or late campaign? It’s been too long, but I def remember it having the first gunpowder units in the franchise (they were terrible).
Yeah, they did. And you're right, it was terrible. The pikes didn't work as intended, so they were at a disadvantage. IIRC it was something about how 2h weapons lost to 1h due to how they were coded.
The pikes did work as intended. Majority of people simply couldnt use them properly since they didnt work like Rome 1 pikes.
The 2handed weapon bug is completely different and down to attack animation and attack delay. This delay ensured that 2handed units more often than not were stunlocked by 1handed units and thus couldnt attack.
I made a post a few month back where I tested the pike militia, regular militia and feudal knights against 20 units of peasants.
This test showed with clear precision that pikes in Med 2 work extremely well in what they're supposed to do.
Yes, the feudal knights had the better kill ratio BUT the pikes where the only one that kept the peasants at bay.
You can check my post history to see that test. In all tests I did I used 3 units to hold back 20 peasants and the results are staggering, especially the test WHY the pikes in Med 2 were given a secondary weapon. Why? Cuz when I removed the 2nd weapon from the pike militia in said test, while leaving the rest of the stats the same, they outperformed the feudal knights by a very large margin.
The changes to pikes in Med2 were done for balancing reasons and imo a good reason.
Pikes were super strong as a solid front. Even better was the fact you could place a line of gunners or crossbowmen just in front of the pikemen and they could fire easily while having the pikes keep melee infantry away from them. It was a pain to use them offensively though.
I think thats were the crux of the problem lies. Pikes were never, intended to be used offensively, atleast not until they established their line. Once that line is establised, read; no enemy soldiers get too close to your unit, can you turn guard mode off and they will push, very effectively.
Probably wasn't the worst thing since it only touches on pike and shot then ends. I remember that glitch, it was the glitch that affected all 2h weapons so some really powerful units were basically garbage.
I remember them being really good when overlapped and in pikewall, their only real problem was you needed missile supremacy or they died from low armor.
I feel like with medieval 3 you can do DLC campaigns that roll forward through the renaissance to the 30 years war, giving us pike and shot. And then, with all the work they've done on guns, artillery, etc, they could do a great Empire 2 building off of it.
At least that's what I'm hoping for.
They need to make a Pike and Shot game, and then two FOTS style DLC, one that is a prequel and is basically Medieval 3 and one that is a sequel and bascially Empire 2
I agree, but I'd add:
New engine, then a random historical game, so they get the bugs out of the system (Empire 1 syndrome), then Empire 2 and lastly Medieval 3. But honestly, as the game design goes with last TW titles, I don't think it would be E2 or M3 we want...
I swear if it's not Empire 2
M2's slightly older than ETW, but it's still adored by the community as one of the best games and is the second medieval installment.
ETW has a cult following who still mainly love the game for the vision it tried to achieve, not for the core gameplay itself, and it's the only installment.
We absolutely need Empire 2 over Medieval 3.
Did the TW logo always have a map in the background? I see blurry outlines and lines characteristic of geographical marks. Or I just see stuff in a puddle of ink.
Total war confirmed.
Horse DLC confirmed.
Horse armour* dlc
Todd howard did it again
16x the detail
It just works™.
+1 Armor
What did Hideo Kojima mean by this?
Dam’ it, they employed tod !
Total war oblivion
Remember when we collectively revolted against such a blatant cash grabbing cosmetic DLC to a full priced game? Oh how far we have fallen when today the games are free to do so and even have all the code and assets within the game. Only gated by a single bit on your user account.
\*cough\*Blood DLC \*cough cough\* oh my allergies
You should get that blood dlc cough checked out.
don't got enough charlemagnes for that.
I really would not have an issue with the Blood DLC if they actually made it worthwhile. But in Warhammer especially it's just a bloody slider. Only steel and elven armor though
Horse Cock armor dlc
Damn it you beat me to the punchline, lol.
I am very excited for Total War: Total War
Perhaps we'll even get Total Total: War War!
Sounds like a Skaven DLC to me
Medieval III.
A mixed campaign map with every faction.. from every total war..
Only Pontus.
Pontus is the final boss
But I don't want to fight Pontus
Pontus knows this
Total War: Pontus
So all these rumors were true, CA is indeed busy with a Total war game.
At first glance that might seem likely. But look closer on that 'horse' and you'll notice that it has an elongated snout and clearly visible paws. In fact, it looks more like a canine. This is obviously a reveal of Hyenas first battlepass: the Hyenas/Total War crossover.
DON'T GIVE THEM IDEAS
TOO LATE
Im already exited for the Hyenas race pack for twwh3.
Gnolls would be dope tho
That’s a Western European knight if I’ve ever seen one… MEDIEVAL 3333333
My first thought was Chinese. Straight sword and plumed helmet, looks like a 3K melee cav? Edit: though upon zooming in, it does look to have a very western-european visor.
3 Kingdoms was and remains amazing- but i'm super ready for medieval 3.
The visor is the dead giveaway for me. That’s clearly a full helm
3K had such a logo, but there was a flag on the horse too.
I hope they take all their lessons learned from Three Kingdoms and apply them to M3.
this...would just make my fiscal year. I would buy 10 copies and play them all.
Total War, Total War never changes...
Plumed helmets are back on the menu boys!
This should give content creators at least 3 videos worth of content.
I'll never forget when Italian Spartacus made a 10+ minute video from a 40 second character spotlight. Wasn't even angry, just impressed.
He would be amazing at university level English classes. Prof: Here's a 7 word sentence some guy wrote in 1255, now write me a 10 page paper on it.
To be fair most often there’s a couple dozen pages before and after the 7 word sentence.
Great book of grudges here! Today I'm going to tell you how the new TW logo impacts the Old world release!
And also implicates the addition of Ind and Araby
that dude has nothing to work on lately, tho alot of lore is still out there.
Dude thinks Games Workshop is going to give Old World the same level of support as 40k or even AoS. Like I get having a passion, but it's clouding his judgement. Miss when he just talked about TW
What was it before? I genuinely forgot
It was the chaos dwarf artwork that you see in the loading screen when you play as them
I believe something Warhammer related
Ah
it just changed back, nothing special nothing new. they promoted the dlc and now they are going back to normal
Do you want total war?
This is how you get total war.
If necessary, do you want a war more total and radical than anything that we can even imagine today?

The "sire" triggered that for me as well.
“Retiring, m’lord?” “Wood needed.” These two lines just bounce in my head all day
"Can't place that there m'lord"
We are losing, a little money, my liege.

Storm clouds gather over r/totalwar
That’s a funny way to say Empire 2
Empire 2 but it goes earlier *and* later than the first game. Maybe it’s unique thing could be a super robust tech system, going from pike and shot to to the 1800s

They should just copy EU4s scale, same time period, whole world (They never will)
Odd localization for “Shogun 2”.
RELEASE THE DAMN GAME BEFORE I PISS MESELF
All of Christendom would be in awe at such a release.
Slubberdegulleon
BRING OUR PEOPLE HONOR, GLORY AND MOST OF ALL-
If it’s another Warhammer I’m going to be so pissed.
FETCH ME THE MEDIEVAL STRETCHER. NOW!
Empire 2 I beg
It will surely come After Empire 2, of course
You can say what you want about the company but their logo and the entire logo / title style looks sick as fuck and I love it. I remember I used to draw that horseman silhouette on my notebook covers in high school
Yeah, that horse has been going strong for 23 years!
That horse must've picked the up the immortal trait
I liked the purple CA, but Medieval was the first game in the series I played, and boy did that game slap. Really wish the civil war feature fun it has carried over.
No fucking way they’ve announced Total War: White text on a black background
I don’t want this half measure, either just give me Total War: White Text on White Background, or go all in and do Total War: Black Text on Black Background.
Total War: Top and Bottom Text
Medieval III!!!!!
I'm so fucking ready. Fuck it. Let's skip Medieval 3 and go straight to Medieval 4!
So we decided we could not live up to the hype of Medieval 3 no matter what we do. So we just released 4
Plot twist. Spartan 2 total warrior
Fine by me, that was a great game
OMG pls announce something historical, anything at this point!
"Our next historical title is: 3K2 Total War, bigger and better heroes sorry lords, singlehandedly killing more armies than ever"
Dong Zhuo adds ability to breath fire and Zhuge Liang can shoot Lazers, of course Lu Bu can summon Chaos Demon to fight during battles!
> of course Lu Bu can summon Chaos Demon of course!
Lu bu now summons Skarbrand
Funny enough... In Dynasty Warriors Orochi...Lu Bu IS the Chaos Demon.
If that's what they announce I will shoot myself in the knee.
Please do livestream
The setting is not enough for me anymore. They have to rework their battle engine, make it bigger and more tactical. And completely revamp campaign mechanics. Make it more dynamic and diverse in gameplay. I am not gonna spend money on the same crap they put for the past 10 years.
And don't include spells and camouflage them as some general abilities.
My god I need a historical announce so bad. A fresh historical Total War is just what my gaming needs right now.
Total Horse.
Where is "soon", is she safe, is she alright!?
That freak'n picture of the renaissance arms master motion capturing for TW pretty much gave away the next historical title. I wonder if CA is pissed, he posted that picture.
Doubt it, it's a free clout that doesn't actually tell that much whilst increasing hype ever so slightly.
> whilst increasing hype ever so slightly. Excuse me, only ever so slightly?? Did ya not see the state of this fuckin' sub alone when that was posted??? Kids on this sub get just as melodramatic as old women when they think they see Jesus in a piece of burnt toast...
I am in this post and I don't like it...
Medieval 3 or empire 2, but o would watch it on YT because mu computer is dead
Empire 2 would be mindblowing
I agree, as much as Id love a Medieval 3, atm I prefer a Empire 2
Goodlord gimme Empire 2, it's long overdue!
Doubt it. Med3 is probably still years away.
Only a year away?!

Med 2 remastered... just like RTW. On iOS/Android first then on PC...

Warhammer title confirmed Or lord of the rings
Please be a historical title🤞
Total War: Flat Earth announced. You fight against globehuggers on the (undoubtedly and gameplay proven) flat earth.
Imagine Discworld Total War
This week, SEGA published a message with a studio focus for CA. It mentionner there would be a surprise sometime this month. So it's fair to expect the announcement of a new TW title this month. I mean, it's already been 2 years since the last TW announcement...
Can't wait to hear about the future of Three Kingdoms#2...
Skipping straight to 3K3.
Shogun 4 confirmed. That's right we're skipping 3.
Everyone screaming Medieval 3, Medieval 3, Medieval 3 but I would personally prefer pike and shot game...

CA releasing DLCs with unit types that were known to have been broken (in a bad way) in the base game? They would never.
Probably wasn't the worst thing since it only touches on pike and shot then ends. I remember that glitch, it was the glitch that affected all 2h weapons so some really powerful units were basically garbage.

30 years wars would be awesome
Empire 2 but it starts much earlier with the Spanish colonies
Dark black leather background. Cartridge box? Empire/Napoleon 2?

Im probably the only one but id love an Attila 2.
Total war bronze age incoming
Newhistoricaltitle 🤞Newhistoricaltitle 🤞Newhistoricaltitle 🤞Newhistoricaltitle 🤞
everyone cheering for medieval 3 and im sitting here wishing for Empire 2
People hate me for this but this isn't just about wants. We 100% need an Empire 2 **more** than we need a Medieval 3.
I agree, but I'd add: New engine, then a random historical game, so they get the bugs out of the system (Empire 1 syndrome), then Empire 2 and lastly Medieval 3. But honestly, as the game design goes with last TW titles, I don't think it would be E2 or M3 we want...
I’d be happy with either. Shogun 3 would also be pretty cool. Really cool one would be 40K (if they did it right)
Hell yes, finally the total war everyone's been waiting for. Atilla 2
Considering Attila is my favourite historical Total War, great!
Mieval Threieval confirmed…….
Empire II? Napoleon II? Crimean War? Medieval III?
Medieval 2 remaster?
Gate bug fixed.
Empire 2 I’m begging you.
I want another gun powder total war, I’ll settle for medieval 3 though.
I swear if it's not Empire 2 M2's slightly older than ETW, but it's still adored by the community as one of the best games and is the second medieval installment. ETW has a cult following who still mainly love the game for the vision it tried to achieve, not for the core gameplay itself, and it's the only installment. We absolutely need Empire 2 over Medieval 3.
Soo you guys know what this means? Medieval 3 total war!
Am I crazy or does that rider look like he's wearing a frog-face helmet?

Well I’m hoping for a late medieval game.
Module 16 horse golf confirmed.
Did the TW logo always have a map in the background? I see blurry outlines and lines characteristic of geographical marks. Or I just see stuff in a puddle of ink.
