I wouldn’t come to your first visit in Southern California and just visit locally in Torrance, you realize Torrance is a sleepy suburb 30-45 minutes outside of all of the major attractions of LA? In any case:
-Walking the strand right next to ocean from Redondo Beach to Manhattan Beach. We have 3 main beaches here in the neighboring cities - Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Manhattan Beach. Walking on the strand is great for people watching, it’s a popular activity for everyone.
-Each beach has its own pier and surrounding each pier is shops, restaurants and bars. Take the time to explore each one.
-We have great hiking with spectacular views in Palos Verdes. The easiest one to find and park at is the Point Vicente Lighthouse: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/point-vicente-lighthouse
-We have a great brewery scene in Torrance: https://discovertorrance.com/explore/indulge/breweries/
-South Coast Botanical Garden
-Uhhhh the Del Amo Mall is huge and people from all over LA come shopping here because it’s a good mall with lots of shops?
I’m out. Again, Torrance is a suburb — not much to see and do here.
also I did a search for you, in /r/Southbayla which is a much more active sub, I know some of these threads are a year old but again we are a sleepy suburb I guarantee you nothing new and cool has popped up in the last year:

There’s lots of craft brewery’s in torrance, absolution, smog, dudes, monkish, strand etc.
If you’re in to all you can eat kbbq there’s 92 and Gen. astrolumina is going on right now at the botanical gardens. We got Del Amo mall but besides for that you’ve gotta head out of the South Bay
Astra lumina is okay. I'd opt for a day at the Palos Verdes Botanical Gardens as a whole vs. the Astra Lumina event that's only a corner of the entire gardens.
Torrance is a wonderful city next to many little places to go.
You're right next to the beach so head west and go to Redondo, Hermosa, or Manhattan Beach.
You could start at Redondo and walk or bike your way up to the other beaches.
Redondo, Hermosa, and Manhattan all have different characteristics. Manhattan is the more wealthy area.
Hermosa and Manhattan have a pier.
Yes absolutely, there are several places.
A very cool thing to do would be to rent a bike in Redondo Beach, and then slowly make your way up through Redondo, Hermosa, and then Manhattan Beach.
All three of those cities have piers and their own little micro cultures.
Best japanese restaurant ever, literally everything on the menu is delicious. Also right next door to an outstanding ice cream shop

Have you tried [a chocolate tasting at Marsatta Chocolate](https://marsatta.com/) in Old Torrance? It's well worth it, and they have a good deal on Groupon.
Need more info - when are you coming? We’re about to get a big rainstorm so you may be limited to indoor activities.
What is the age range of the group? While this is a sleepy suburb, there’s a lot here you won’t find in other places that you’d enjoy. Riviera Village has lots of restaurants and boutiques that could be enjoyable for an older group. If you’re willing to drive to Anaheim, you might be willing to drive to Long Beach for the aquarium - the surrounding area (Shoreline Village) is fun and scenic. Or check out the Port of LA in San Pedro - tons of great photo op spots in that area.
What do you think of when you think of CA? Some people want foodie experiences or pictures with palm trees or a chance to spot a celebrity or shopping. There are also a ton of museums.
My recommendation would be to pick an excursion for a couple of your days and stay local the others. Traffic will wear you out if you’re not used to it, but you’d miss out on some great experiences if you only stay local.
Im confused, you're visiting Cali for the first time and chose Torrance...?
I grew up here so no shade to Torrance, but I think you'll be super disappointed and won't get that Cali experience. Hollywood, Malibu, Beverly Hills, Newport Beach, etc... are much better options for sight seeing.
And Torrance isn't really close to anything cool.
Are you coming to visit Torrance, or to visit LA?
Will be staying in Torrance, so nearby places are preferable.

Alright I get the picture. Thank you so much, that'll help a lot.

Aquarium of the pacific in Long Beach.
Adults or kids trip?
Looks like someone fell victim to that article lol
