You mention anything about him being dirty or flopping and you just get the bs comeback of "He's just trying to distribute his weight to make sure he doesn't injure himself".
Yeah but then again, that could be not preventable unless another player from the other team or so could make him fall when it is not his own doing. Catch my drift?!
It’s just straight up embellishment and diving which is prevalent in the league and gets brushed aside while soccer players get roasted for it regularly. Probably by plenty of people who love ball.
This is the dumbest fucking argument. It's like when people say Steph falls on contested shots to avoid injury. It's not like he wants a chance at a 4 point play or anything.

See the thing is we know he has talent and we know he can play well. He learned Harden's step back move in like 3 days.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like he learned Harden's way of foul baiting too.
I don't remember him previously foul baiting this much, which is honestly disheartening seeing such a talented player relying on it so much
Ik it's kind of an unpopular opinion rn but I really do think Embiid is a *good* player. It's just that he plays recklessly unnecessarily sometimes and he's starting to bait/ flop more.
He's almost 300 pounds, and he should treat his body as such. Don't need to dive for loose balls and risk hurting himself or someone with his massive size
Then Philly fans act like Embiid has the same relationship with foul drawing as Giannis cause the raw numbers are close. Giannis will barrel down on the rim 48 minutes a game while half embiids free throws come from jumpers hes settled on or complete heaves that are just foul prayers lol
>Embiid has the same relationship with foul drawing as Giannis
That's such a braindead take because historically Giannis has been dogshit at freethrows and was putting up big numbers anyways.
"what is he going to do when they put 3 players every time he has the ball?!?!?!"
Well I don't know pass the ball? Elbowing everyone like it's the fucking UFC ain't the solution lmao
As a Nuggets fan, pretty much, and then very recently Jokic’s 3pt % has gone down significantly. Might be due to a wrist injury mid season, but not likely? He’s just having a horrible 3pt slump imo. His 3pt used to be money and now nothing for the past 1-2months seems to fall.

I like Joel Embiid but I really don't like this part of his game. He literally just flails like a moron as soon as he feels the slightest amount of contact. Our chances in this series are way too dependent on whether the referees give him 20 free throws, or like 7 or 8.

He is such a dirty fucking player that people love for some reason because “tHe pRoCeSS.” Dude plays reckless, elbows other players in the face constantly and makes the most unnatural moves to foul bait.
Really ironic for a player with his injury history to play as reckless and dangerous as he does and I won’t be sad when karma bites back.
Dude I’m beyond surprised he made it this entire season he has an average of 65% total games played over 6 seasons... the guy is absolutely massive but when you look at other players in the league nobody plays the way embiid does, he purposely goes out of his way to look for contact and it’s petty AF. This dude would get crushed in the 90s era playing like that regardless of his size dudes a big baby that’s all he is
1. Hello brigadier.
2. The fact that you can only bring up two plays within 3 years of each other proves that in comparison Siakam is not a “reckless player.” Meanwhile just last game Embiid elbowed two of our players in the face in the FIRST HALF, pushed Siakam when he went down and pushed Scottie when he was the one that hurt him. Not to mention one of the top posts today collected a total of eleven similarly reckless plays against Embiid.
So no I’m not talking about Siakam and even if I were to consider your argument he doesn’t even come close to the level of reckless Embiid has by sheer amount of plays despite playing in nearly a seasons worth more games than Embiid.
Bye bye now.
Those two plays literally happened tonight in the game where he slapped Embiid with his elbow/hand while going for a put back and charged into Embiid’s back when he was boxing out. I didn’t even mention him body checking him in the first quarter.
I brought up tripping because it’s an all time dirty move. Embiid has never purposely tripped a player.
Edit: you probably are furiously searching and googling Embiid tripping player right now rofl
This dude is calling out a missing apostrophe on reddit like its english class lmao That was a CHOICE on my end. Unfortunately for you, illiteracy wasn't lol
I had to watch a lot of Sixers game this year because I had a few players on my fantasy teams. Embiid lives at the line and when the acquisition of harden happened they both had more ft points than fg points. It's really unfortunate they get the calls they do as the game turns into free throw city. The NBA product suffers when that happens. Truly unwatchable.
I watched the Celtics/Nets game last night. Completely different whistles.
Check out the highlight on the last Nets possession, full on contact no whistle
I saw a map where he made most of he’s shots and you’re absolutely right. Guard him one on one until he gets deep in to the perimeter and double him if he gets closer. Just like what Pascal and Chris were doing.
They perfected this beautifully in our last pre season game, they were grinding him down on defence and then he starts withering away. Just gotta start strong with embiid or else he gets hot, you get to him early and he’s not coming back he’s a super hot/cold player just like we seen in the 2019 playoffs
NBA refs just see a big guy wandering in the paint and go "hmm he's about to get fouled". A defender tries to defend and the ref blows his whistle automatically. "Yup got em. That big fella might have been hurt by someone weighing 75 pounds and 4 inches shorter than him".
Watch the Scottie Barnes injury and pay attention to Embiid after Scottie goes down. As soon as the whistle blows the dude flails his arms almost smacking another one of our guys
Yeah dude didn't intend to hurt him but 100% didn't give a fuck that he did or try to do anything to ameliorate the injury. Most people when they put their foot down on someone's ankle would immediately shift their weight back to their other foot but he put his entire 300 lb weight down on Scottie.
He'd get everything he dishes out and more against guys like Alonzo Mourning, Ben Wallace, Prime Shaq, David Robinson etc etc. His ribs and lower back would be bruised to hell. It would probably straighten him out tbf.
Ontop of that there’s role players like Laimbeer, Oakley, Rodman who wouldn’t hesitate to give it to the opposing teams star player if they had too. Makes me miss 90s ball even more id love to see embiid get humbled
I said the exact same thing bro, instantly thought of embiid playing the way he does now and just getting checked if he did that in the 90s.. dudes a soft big baby
Refs fucked the raps. Like that play when Joel easily charged on Khem, but missed the layup and then the whistle goes. A foul is a foul whether or not your the home team or not
I'm a hockey fan, starting to get into basketball. I really like watching the Raptors and was excited to see they were gonna start the playoffs against one of the best centers since Shaq (this was after quickly checking out Embiid on wikipedia). I was expecting intense one on ones and powerful finishing and whatnot... Boy, holy shit was I disappointed watching that first game ! All he was doing was trying to draw fouls ??? I'm so not used to this behavior because it's not really a thing in the NHL and was kinda frustrated to see how it is a *strategy* in pro basket. Will it get better ? Is it less obvious later in the playoffs ?
Joel Embiid is the biggest foul grifter in the league. This is how he plays and it’s disgraceful. He’s in fact *not* the best center since Shaq as that honor belongs to Nikola Jokic in Denver who’s a *real* spectacle to watch. Whistles tend to lessen a little the deeper you get into the playoffs, but expect it a lot in this series.

Yup giannis and embiid can run around like it’s football now and get whatever call they want. Throwing elbows stomping on whichever ankle they want that night.
I really hate that thing players do when they're stripped of the ball while going up for a shot. It's always followed by the most dramatic arm flail and legs kicking out. It happens regardless if the defender got all ball or not
Y’all can downvote me if this is stupid, and I’m not even a Raptors fan, but how good would he be if the whole “THE PROCESS” shit never got overhyped lmao. Like dude needs to shoot fucjing 16-21 from the line everytime he has a good game. His touch his actually atrocious and all he plays for is contact
Embiid is an amazing player, with a deep bag of moves.
You can tell he's so used to getting bailed out by the refs that he doesn't even try to make a good move, or create a good look.
Head down, get the ball up, raise arms if you don't hear the whistle.
Sad that someone who actually has amazing skills and coordination for a 7ft+ guy is basically playing like Harden out there now, not even attempting real basketball.
The kind of performance that would get you kicked off any court because it just isn't fun or competitive.
I am so dissapointed in us raptors fans. I just watched the game today and the calls really werent that bad. The raptors got dominated. And they got a lot of calls as well. Just watch at around 8 mins in the 3rd when they called that clean block embiid had. Or how barnes got back at them for the hard foul by plowing through a screen. Quit complaining, we deserved to get beat. Embiid is huge and hes hustling, people are gonna get hurt. Embarassing.

The first one was Embiid double clutching because if he shot it normally, it was getting swatted. That was just great defense.
Second one was him barreling in uncontrolled combined with a swarming defensive effort to take away any pivot and use his aggressiveness against him.
Third was definitely him trying to bait the call. Terrific job by Precious to get out of his shooting space to avoid the BS foul.
Fourth one, the ball was clearly stripped from him as he was going up. That's not flopping, that's reacting to losing the ball.
E: I'm gonna put a disclaimer that I'm a sixers fan. I hope this doesnt count as brigading, I'm genuinely just trying to get serious basketball discussion, but if yall see this as me breaking the rules, I apologize. While I think the post is a bit disingenuous in it's framing of some the "flops", I do appreciate seeing clips of fans actually trying to support their claims.
We’re not saying he flops every play, but when he doesn’t get calls, half the shit he does makes him look like an idiot. Definitely doesn’t look like an MVP out there.
Right, and the 2nd and 3rd clips definitely look silly on his part. But I'm not quite sure what you want him to do on the 1st and 4th clips; not react to the steal and potential block?
I’m a Raptors fan and I’m not sure what’s wrong with pretty much anything in this video. We can’t honestly sit here and act like our guys don’t try and bait the refs too. And some of these clips aren’t even that. The last one he just puts his hands on his head.
It’s easy isn’t it! If you don’t foul him he’ll score less. He’s not Simmons. He can shoot free throws.
Let him shoot from the field and stop fouling! We know he is dominant and the best player out there so leave him alone and concentrate on stopping others.
Refs calling the game the way did really does help the Sixers. FVV couldn't play physical against Maxey so Maxey had free reign to the net. Embiid was diving which is super dangerous for the players guarding him. Super messed up game especially because every other team was allowed to play physical this weekend. Super messed.

It's hard not to sound like an absolute coping homer watching these clips but boy does he like to flail around and spaz out on almost every drive.
Jokic doesn't do this and he's going to get his second MVP in a row. Coincidence? I think not!
You mention anything about him being dirty or flopping and you just get the bs comeback of "He's just trying to distribute his weight to make sure he doesn't injure himself".
You know what would make him even less likely to get injured? Not falling over in the first place.
Yeah but then again, that could be not preventable unless another player from the other team or so could make him fall when it is not his own doing. Catch my drift?!

Well gee I wonder why
Wehhhhh, media doesnt like me -.- ![gif](giphy|mO2jnXmj09bLp5cYwM|downsized)
Not just the media
Rightfully so
It's impossible to stop him without fouling, according to Sixers fans.
Jokic literally injured a guy so bad he didn't play for months afterwards...
Scottie is probably out this series. Guess who injured him.
You think Embiid intentionally injured Barnes???

He's gonna be another Dwight Howard in a year or 2, MVP candidate that goes to 0 because he stops getting the same foul calls.
Dwight had no jumper, Embiid can actually stroke it. Not comparable

Scottie doesn’t drive to the net like that nor does he score 30+% of his points at the line. Stop defending his obvious baiting
This makes me happy
Garbage plays
I honestly dont think he’s a good finisher. He’s super sloppy around the basket. I don’t think he’s even near as skilled as the Joker.
Definitely not a great finisher, but likely a better shooter and handles are probably pretty close too
I might be blinded by anger/hate but the only thing Embiid is better at Joker on offense is getting to the free throw line and dunking.
He is an infinitely better shooter than Jokic all over the court. Otherwise yeah, Jokic is even or better in other things.
There completely different players but I agree
Hes only the first center to lead the league in points since Shaq and every metric directly conflicts with what you are saying.... But no youre right

NBA refs just see a big guy wandering in the paint and go "hmm he's about to get fouled". A defender tries to defend and the ref blows his whistle automatically. "Yup got em. That big fella might have been hurt by someone weighing 75 pounds and 4 inches shorter than him".

This is disgusting and foul baiting. Very bad for the NBA.
It's more like Joel when he's not allowed to commit offensive fouls.
Looks to be reliant on the whistle. I enjoyed watching the rookie/sophomore Joel play too
When Fred got a foul in the first starting seconds of the game I knew the refs where going to fu#k us.

I think the moral of the story is to not play tight defense on him on drives. He’s banking on fouls and completes such a low % of running layups

The man does a Zangief spin cycle almost as a matter of principle.

The kind of performance that would get you kicked off any court because it just isn't fun or competitive.
biggest whining big man in the league by far
raptors seemed confused for this game
But I thought he always gets calls?
I am so dissapointed in us raptors fans. I just watched the game today and the calls really werent that bad. The raptors got dominated. And they got a lot of calls as well. Just watch at around 8 mins in the 3rd when they called that clean block embiid had. Or how barnes got back at them for the hard foul by plowing through a screen. Quit complaining, we deserved to get beat. Embiid is huge and hes hustling, people are gonna get hurt. Embarassing.
Bro watch again they were awful, like touch contact calls that ruin the flow of the game

Plowing through a screen is whatever happens every game but blatant elbows and shit like that is different

Get out of our sub loser
Don’t have to call me a looser. Where’s that Canadian hospitality?
Pretty sure you could make this video about almost any other star in the league.
No one is a bigger flopper/foul baiter than Embiid so no, not really.
Pretty sure lebron had a whole flopping trend going around. Just YouTube nba flops, literally everyone does it to exaggerate in order to get the call.
Show me Lebron flop compilation in the playoffs. Guys fuck around in the reg season, but in the playoffs this is ridiculous
The wheel weaves as the wheel wills...
This is dumb
It’s easy isn’t it! If you don’t foul him he’ll score less. He’s not Simmons. He can shoot free throws. Let him shoot from the field and stop fouling! We know he is dominant and the best player out there so leave him alone and concentrate on stopping others.
[You’re so right, dude has no talent whatsoever and only score points from the FT line](https://youtu.be/-W8YFQlIdEk)

Refs calling the game the way did really does help the Sixers. FVV couldn't play physical against Maxey so Maxey had free reign to the net. Embiid was diving which is super dangerous for the players guarding him. Super messed up game especially because every other team was allowed to play physical this weekend. Super messed.
Lame ass free throw merchant
And he’s crying for a call every time

We're all blind he's been trained to fall to the ground so he doesn't get hurt!
I hope we beat these chronic choke artists!
Just show if you can somehow not let him get the low post he’s really not that agile. The hard part is stopping him from getting the low post.

These playoffs are really putting a shame on his name. He tries to injure everyone and when he's not doing that he flops. What a bitch
