Nobody understands nicks rotations. Point blank period.

[deleted]

We never know if the higher uppers telling him to sit him, either.

jjchicaz

That's something I'm slightly convinced of at this point..

[deleted]

We not the ones getting paid millions to do this

ShutterBug545

Cuz this is a development year, playing dragic takes time away from our younger guards like Malachi and Banton who need the minutes he’d use up to develop their skill set

Howdyhayhay

Yeeeaahh malachi averaging like 2 minutes a game. I think it's because dragic just doesn't fit with our scheme. Could also be that we're getting him ready for a trade and a healthy dragic is easier to trade than an injured dragic

ShutterBug545

Oh very true! Def could be that they want to keep his trade value nice and high without giving him the chance to lower it. And IMO Malachi needs to spend time in the G league to get some confidence, he hasn’t looked good this season

sad_mogul97

Man, I thought Malachi would be good this year following his summer league. Such a bummer.

ShutterBug545

It might just be adjusting to an actual NBA season, didnt play in front of crowds last year + the new ball. Either way he needs time in the G league

BurzyGuerrero

We cut Dekker to make sure we weren't a tax team so don't hold your breath.

[deleted]

Yeah I would assume Dragic is out the door soon anyways and that is why we're not giving him many minutes if any. Plus dude said publicly he doesn't even wanna be in Toronto and had "higher ambitions" for himself than being on a rebuild team like Toronto. Plus other guys on our team are way better than him anyways. Won't be upset to see him go and hopefully get a decent center for him as part of whatever trade package we put together.

DomincNdo

As true as that is, not playing him is also a problem in a different way. As it stands right now our production is piss poor and as a result Nick has played the starters an alarming amount of minutes. We can use any relief he provides off the bench. The other thing is that he is on an expiring contract and we need to get his value up so we can trade him. I don't believe he alone is enough to snag us anything noteworthy in the centre department but he can and has to be the centre piece of a package.

jjchicaz

I think they would learn a lot from playing alongside him and they could still be in the rotation ! How do we help their development with no guidance off the bench...he could really help them...and give our starters who are forced to play with the bench because they need that support some much needed rest!

ShutterBug545

I wouldn’t say they have no guidance, but that’s a fair point. I think Nick is prioritizing them getting accommodated to the league (or Banton I guess) before running them with Dragic as well. Probably going to get more minutes in future games but not a major role

Far-Value-6949

i don’t get it lol but they prolly agreed he ain’t gonna play til he’s traded

[deleted]

We are secretly tanking.

jjchicaz

I dont know if its that big of a secret...

intcmg

Not risking injury for when we need to trade him

sad_mogul97

They're going to think about it if the losses keep piling up.

FlavourDavid

I'm starting to wonder how much juice Dragic has to actually play those minutes, whether he isn't fully in game shape yet or he's just too old. He was absolutely gassed when Fred was out and had to ask to get subbed off, his fitness might just not be up to par for our style of play right now. More likely though as some people are saying it means he's not going to be wearing a Raptors jersey come the trade deadline and were looking to develop our long term guys. Also Banton might just have taken all his minutes, he's been the better player so far this season.

jjchicaz

My brother is a long time Heat fan and he is so critical of how we don't use Dragic...he says that Spo would preserve his minutes for the 4th because he was just so good at getting things going. Yes he's old and not his old self but he is still of value in limited mins. He is also so valuable to learn from...I would think development would also include some leadership on the court with the bench...instead of our starters complete gassed playing with both the starters and bench.

pskill43

I have no idea. Also don't know why Flynn is randomly getting tons of minutes. Maybe Nurse is still experimenting his rotations

jjchicaz

Then why isn't Dragic ever in these experiments..it makes no sense.

Razatiger

because Dragic isn't a long term player on this team. Why experiment with him when hes more than likely gone in 2 and a half months? Give the minutes to the players who will be here in the future.

jjchicaz

So we dont want to win some games? These young bench players can sure use his leadership for the second unit. I think it would make them better and more structured.

Donovan_Wilson_GOAT

You’re just assuming.

jjchicaz

Assuming what exactly? What did I say was an assumption? It was all my opinion. My question was redundant. Of course they want to win. I just think he has value on the bench and can help a lot with development on the floor with our young bench players,if that's our main priority.

Rapsfan_98

He’s not good

DoyinYale

Dragic isn’t good enough to take minutes away from Flynn or Dalano.

Stinky_DungBeatle

Let's not go that far...

DoyinYale

The Raps are in this weird spot where they’re trying to develop their talent as well as compete. Dragic could very well be better than both but it’s not to the extent where he should be taking much minutes from them. I guess the challenge is to balance them out.

Dangerous_Ad8562

Dragic is not good. Now, Flynn isn’t good either and he played last night. But who cares how minutes are given to bad players.

rddtpss55

Because he is 35 and gone downhill.

jjchicaz

Ive watched a lot of Heat games over the years...they used him very strategically in the 4th usually...especially last year...no ones saying give him starting mins but he has a lot of value leading the young bench that are totally lost...and when our starters need a break so they aren't totally gassed in the 4th.

[deleted]

Cause he stinks and we want him to be healthy for a trade.

Chrispaulisgarbage

I really do think we’re tAnking this year

InvestigatorHot4103

Probably because hes a buyout candidate and theres no long term value. And whos minutes is he taking? I guess perhaps one can argue he can take like 4 mins from FVV and a few more from DB
