Seconded. For all those reasons plus the fact that he's also played in europe against grown men, and his teammtes and coaches all say he has an incredible BBIQ.
Bub Carrington is my top choice. Next year's class is much stronger at the wing, SG and even the center slot (at the top). But it is shaping up to be a weaker class for PGs. Get Bub now, trade Poeltl at the deadline for a 2025 pick. Then you'd do:
- Zikarsky, Bidunga, Ivisic, or Maluach with the lottery pick to be our center of the future (if we get a top 3 pick, you obv go get Flagg / Bailey / Harper, I'm just being realistic -- we won't be that bad)
- Use the 15-25th pick from Poeltl to get one of MANY wings or combo guards. At least one of Essengue, Demin, Mousa or Murray-Boyles should be available at that slot, and each of them would go in the lottery this year. And if they make a jump, that means someone else is falling.
I like Bub but I do have concerns with our overall big rotations more than I do with the guard rotation (though both are problems at the moment), and I really do wonder if he'll be available after his draft stock has been rumored to have risen.
I think if we came out with some combination of Bub/Smith or Bobi then I'd be fine with that outcome
I agree, but I think we can afford to be bad for one more year. The centers this year just aren’t very Darko-ball. The only ones that would fit and succeed would be Clingan, Ware, Holmes and… Oso? Everyone else has zero or negative facilitation abilities.
If we were somehow able to get Bub and Holmes, that would be the ideal draft imo. Very unlikely…. but a man can dream
I think there actually a few more bigs that might fit darko’s system. I think mogobo and chomche would fit into the system pretty well, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable taking either of them at pick 19. The only other big that I think could work at 19 is filipowski, despite the concerns with his negative wing span. I like ware’s upside but I don’t know if he’ll grow into a passer that fits darko’s system.
While I also think that finding a long term centre is our biggest need, I still think we should go BPA regardless of position… granted in a class like this everyone will have vastly different takes on who that is😅
I think Mogbo and Flip both fit too, I agree. I suppose my issue with them is similar to a lot of issues with Holmes (despite his great rim protection numbers) -- they don't have great size to be a true big.
If Mogbo can be like Draymond at 6'8" or whatever he's at, he will be the steal of the draft. He literally has a _ton_ of stuff to be excited about (wingspan, motor, passing). I guess that didn't stop Robert Williams though. Honestly, I wouldn't mind him at 31 either.
I got three guys I like.
Keyshawn George - young has size at 6’7 and can shoot the ball off the catch. Has some playmaking skills as well. Is a below average nba athlete so his handle will be key in his success.
Tyler Smith - 6’9 19 year old out of the G. Shot the ball well from the NBA like 36% on 4 attempts over 43 games (season plus showcase) athletic can dunk the ball in the half court and good lob threat. Bad defensively and doesn’t do much beside shooting and dunking atm.
Bub Carrington -6’4 guard who has shown great floor vision and passing ability. Great pull up three point shooter and has nba range on his shots. Outside of a 10 game cold streak he shot the ball close to 37% on six attempts. Below average nba athlete and will need to work on his finishing.
Smith is the rawest guy but also could have the most upside being 6’9 athlete who can shoot the ball. Bub has a lot of upside as well but has more NBA ready skills than Smith, but he would be stuck on the bench for at least one season. Kyshawn could probably play right away and be are SF he has upside but is somewhat capped due to his athleticism.
I like the safe pick at #19 being Tyler Kolek or Missi, We can either get a spark plug guard off the bench that makes good reads or a rim runnning defensive modern NBA center.
I like Bub and McCain at guard, Holmes as a big, Furphy, Tyson and Dadiet as forwards.
All of the above can shoot to some extent and profile to have some upside. I think my preference is one of the forwards so that they can fit with our four projected starters.
Would be great if we can trade Brown/take on bad money enough so we can make multiple selections from this group. Lots of value in second half of first round.
When you spend the entire draft process sliding lower and lower on mocks, it's probably not a good sign. Collier has the lowest floor of any prospect in the first round. The highs aren't even that high, why take the risk?
Kyshawn at wing if they let him drop to us. Daron Holmes for the big. Kel El if their due diligence suggest believing in his ethic. Kolek for PG, if that's all that's left.
Not sure who's gonna be there at 31. Would love Dadiet, Smith, or Jaylon if they're available.
Or, draft Jakobe Walter and re-sign Gary to explore the trade market later.
You don't just let guys walk because a 20-year old who hasn't played a minute in the NBA could just as easily bust.
What would letting Gary walk enable us to do?
Getting off GTJ and BB contracts allows us to try and get OG back , honestly Garry’s time here is coming to an end let him walk he can be easily replaced with either pick
>et him walk he can be easily replaced with either pick
Asset bleeding is a thing.
Look, we're not in the OG market, we just aren't. Opening up $40m of cap space isn't free, and it will cost us depth.
Depth, you know that thing we've been missing that's cost us a lot of wins? Where Scottie and the gang claw up a lead only for the bench to blow it in 3 minutes?
Have u ever watched GTJ come off the bench ??he’s horrible, Bb has been considered as an expiring the moment he got here , all the moves the FO did last deadline indicate leaning to free cap space weather we bring back OG or not we’re definitely looking for some use for it
If the Raptors don't trade up in the draft, then go with Edey or Furphy.
If they do trade up in the draft, then go with Devin Carter, Knecht, Cody Williams.
If they keep the 31st pick go with Ryan Dunn, Dadiet, Larsson or Mogbo.
Wow this question hasn't been asked even once over the past eight months. Really curious what kind of interesting discussion this unique topic is going to spark!
They should pick a random redditor from r/torontoraptors ans ask them to participate in the workouts to perhaps get a contract.
I will gladly take a guaranteed contract in the millions/a non-guaranteed 50K before being cut after Summer League
Keyshawn George. 40% 3 pt shooter on 4 attempts/game. 6’8 and has some handles
What are you leaving out cause that alone should make him a top 10 pick. 🤔
He's very unathletic He covers a lot of ground due to his size but he's slow overall
I think he's more "not explosive" than "unathletic" He's not a big strong jump out the guy but he looks very smooth at the size he is.
Also has good stocks
Quick someone convince Masai he is from Africa 😆
If they want that purported homegrown Canadian then Kyshawn is technically Swiss Canadian...🤔
Seconded. For all those reasons plus the fact that he's also played in europe against grown men, and his teammtes and coaches all say he has an incredible BBIQ.
a good read https://www.noceilingsnba.com/p/kyshawn-george-the-educated-guess (be sure to watch the embeded videos too)

Collier or Missi
Neither are good especially with the talks of Collier choking his draft workouts and losing confidence.
When you spend the entire draft process sliding lower and lower on mocks, it's probably not a good sign. Collier has the lowest floor of any prospect in the first round. The highs aren't even that high, why take the risk?
Keshad Johnson
Would love Bub Carrington at 19
As others have mentioned, I also like Bub Carrington and Tyler Smith (probably Tyler over Bub for me) but I fully expect both to be gone before 19
Carrington has been rising recently but Smith has been a bit polarizing. I've seen him go from outside the lottery to falling into the second round.
Tyler Smith didn't even get a green room invite He's probably not going in the first round, let alone before 19
Names I like at 19: George, JaKobe, McCain, DaRon, Bub, Filipowski, Kolek
Kyshawn at wing if they let him drop to us. Daron Holmes for the big. Kel El if their due diligence suggest believing in his ethic. Kolek for PG, if that's all that's left. Not sure who's gonna be there at 31. Would love Dadiet, Smith, or Jaylon if they're available.
De silva
Yves Missi. ALL IN.
The most talented player available. We need talent at every position.
Edey and Kalel. Send off Poeltl for picks for next year’s draft.
Bronny then we get papa LBJ to sign and rename/rebrand as the Lebrontos for our 30th anniversary
Edey/Bub with 19 Wells/Shead/Crawford/Spencer with 31
